The food was overpriced and sub-par. The chili was too think, had no flavor/bland. Sort of like something you would get in a cafeteria. The "Philly" cheese steak had marinade on it, which tasted ok...however most places ask you if you want that on your cheese steaks and the person who took our order did not, and was completely rude to us. I was looking for drink prices on the menu because I had never been in the place and found the guy was standing there pointing repeatedly at the cups (which were sitting on an incredibly dirty shelf by the register) sarcastically and without speaking. There was signs everywhere with their "food-nazi" rules posted. (ie: watch your kids, dont touch the hot sauce bottles that are for purchase (You break it you buy it- even though people want to see the ingredients and description of the items or they probably wont buy the item. The decor was horrendous and dirty/falling apart for the price of the food. And the portion sizes were smaller than expected. For an $8.00 cheese steak I expected it to be a 14 inch one, not a 10 inch (maybe it was more originally but it looked like the ends were chopped off and possibly used for another menu item). Maybe the food was good at one point and the prices were better, Im not sure. But from my visit today I would not go back unless I paid a little more than 1/2 what we did ($18.00 for 1 "large" cheese steak we shared, 2 small chilis and 2 small drinks- we would have purchased one to share but one of their signs stated we were not allowed to share drinks because of the free refills! Sad, but true.) Good things: The cheese steak DID taste good. Would have preferred no sauce, but luckily it wasnt too sweet like most marinara sauces at local places. The roll was great (aside from the fact they chopped off the ends). There are coupons available however we did not have access to them because even though we had a smart phone with us their site specifically stated they do NOT accept a coupon on a phone- another one of their rules. Bad things: The prices, the chili, the decor, the signs with rules posted in bad taste everywhere (with bad spelling), their web site- which also is in bad taste with bad spelling (and pointed out the cost of alligator being over $6 a pound, which is odd because the alligator with fries costs $10.00...someone must have complained about price for them to post that on their site), the service, and the cleanliness of the restaurant, also NOT kid friendly.

Dining experiences can be memorable. This visit will be remembered...like a bad dream. The cafe is a counter serve sandwich shop with a menu limited to sandwiches, simple sides, a deli case, and poorly presented cookies on the counter. After placing an order, I noticed that the kitchen was filthy. Had I noticed the sanitation earlier, I would have left. Orders were delivered to the wrong table twice while I sat reading the newspaper. The newspaper was read front to back and the sandwich had not arrived. I waited 15 minutes and finally asked for a refund - thats a first! The manager, and probably the owner, was visibly frustrated and profusely apologized. He found my sandwich and gave it to me gratis. After leaving, I gave the sandwich a try. The waste can is enjoying all but one bite.

They got my order wrong and werent very generous about fixing that, despite causing me to run over my break time on lunch. I ordered online to speed up the process but they still managed to thwart my attempt at speed. My coworker ordered a sandwich off the bun because shes gluten sensitive and the amount of food they gave her for the same price was comically weak. When I got my alligator po-boy it was outstanding and the hush puppies were better yet. -2 stars for pretty mediocre service efforts and being inconsiderate about people with dietary restrictions who may be trying to make things simple on the staff by just removing the bun. Ill go here again hoping they get it right next time.

The food was overall good. I had an alligator po-boy and some sweet potato tots. The tots were tossed in cinnamon sugar which was a very unpleasant surprise, I expected savory and got something super sweet instead. The alligator tasted good and was well cooked, but for the price there should have been more on the sandwich, which was 95% lettuce with two half slices of tomato and a few little pieces of fried gator. My companions sandwich, the chicken cheese steak, was equally as skimpy on the meat. The hushpuppys he had were delicious. So overall good tasting food, but a bad balance between portion and cost.

Have been going here fairly regularly for 5+ years. The food is quality. Unfortunately they regularly come across as very indifferent as to whether you dine there or not. Grim faces abound. I kept going because the food was decent and it was close to home. I went with a friend recentely and tried to use a coupon that said ("one coupon per visit per customer") and the owner gave us a hard time about it because we ordered on one check. We walked out and as a small business owner myself I will not continue to support a business that consistenly shows a lack of interest in customer service.

Ive eaten here numerous times, both seated and carryout. You can get jambalaya, gumbo, 5-alarm chili, various sides, etc., but the bulk of the menu is sandwiches. And I have had only good sandwiches here. I can get a cheesesteak anywhere, so I order the muffaletta or BBQ pork or something like that. The sandwiches and other dishes here manage to distinguish this place from the other 500 sandwich shops in town, and the food is good enough that I dont pay attention to the bland decor. I just go back to reading the complementary newspaper and enjoy my meal...

I was unimpressed It was just "ok". Kind of a confusing and overwritten menu. I wish they would have indicated that they put red sauce on the Cheese Steak. Also no one understands what kind of cheese "gooey cheese" is. Yea they use that term on the menu and i had to ask. Almost any cheese is gooey when you melt it. They told me its melted velveta. Ok, then just say so on the menu.

I go here quite often. They have very good sandwiches (I like there toasted subs and their cheese steaks). They also have Poboys (with seafood) and other Cajun/New Orleans favorites. Their Jambalaya is good and I really like their Red Beans and Rice. The staff is friendly and the service is good. One of these days I will work up the nerve to order the deep fried alligator.

ordered their alligator po boy and onion straws yesterday, through carryout courier. even being delivered the onions and alligator were still crispy and warm and the sauces were on point! it was so good that im going head back out for lunch today for some gumbo, to give that a try. I dont even care that its snowing its worth it.

Amazing sandwiches. The blackened chicken sandwich with Creole sauce is incredible. Great place for lunch or dinner!
