I want to like this place for breakfast but cant. Best thing going for it is that Its easy to get a table. After that, good luck. Waiting for stuff and coffee refills are problems. Id reccomment looking at the menu online and ordering food and coffee right when you see the waitress for the first time...this will likely keep your experience at 1- 1.25 hours..... TIP- if you cant find a waitress for a coffee refill... just take your cups to the kitchen and fill em up yourself. If you got kids , word of warning ... this place serves booze and sometimes some patrons are dropping F bombs while on their 4th Bloody Mary. When it takes 45plus minutes to get a simple order of Biscuits and Gravey it can make the natives restless ... thus the booze. Food-wise if you hate your food piping hot, youve come to the right place. No lawsuits here for things too hot. Also, nothing spectacular taste-wise either. Its eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes as main ingredients ... I often wonder if when you order, they run to McDonalds and get the food and bring it back as the reason for it taking so long. The biscuits are good ... order those for an original item. I really want to like this place because there is lots of potential ... of just had too many recent sub par experiences over the last 18 months for breakfast to really give this anything but 1 star for now.

Not ever been the best for their food, but after THREE times within the last month of going and getting HORRIBLE service, GREASY food and TINY portions for the money, we are done. This after 6 years of going, and most the time it was OK. NOT great, but OK..... NO more! Doesnt matter its the only "nicer (and I type that lightly!)" restaurant in town .... NO MORE! And tonights Valentines dinner was no exception. So incredibly disappointed. Oh, and I asked about something and got the brush off, and then the manager came with our food after a VERY long wait and place not even full, and he would not comment. The atmosphere is about all it has going for it any more. Last Friday hubby and I went for dinner, and we sat for about 10 minutes being ignored, so finally got up and walked out of the restaurant part, went into the bar area and ordered food. Ordered steak and it was so tough that I could barely SAW it apart with the steak knife! Broccoli was old and nasty, and the potato was, well, a potato. Tonights (Feb. 14th. and they werent even really busy!) tho? Well, greasy meat, small iceberg lettuce salad, greasy chicken, greasy onions, TINY portions for the money, and NOT GOOD FOOD!!!

I have eaten in the restaurant and in the bar. I also ate some of their delicious, fresh baked goods from the Bakery across the way. Family owned and run establishment with a great history. I was served lunch my the owners son, and he was on top of his work. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich, with fries, and it was exactly what I expected. Nothing gourmet, or original, but delicious and filling nonetheless. The bar was quiet and darker, but a nice escape from the midday sun. Bartender was friendly, and I enjoyed a beer and some Keno while eating my BLT. Once again, its a BLT, so it wasnt a food masterpiece, but it was done right, and very well portioned for a man of my intense appetite. Satisfied again. I had a few cookies that had a perfect chewy texture, as well as a fresh baked Apple pie. The crust was nothing short of extraordinary, and I could tell it was baked with love. :-) The staff in the bakery were sweet and welcoming, and the environment was perfect for the traveling, souvenir gathering crowd! Overall, this historical Gem off Sandy Blvd is a must visit. Stop by for great Diner food, friendly staff, and fresh baked treats! You wont regret it!

I was sending a team of people from my company to a conference in Salem and wanted to have local fresh loaves of bread be give-aways for a marketing experiment. I called in the order, was extra careful to make certain I was only going to get FRESH bread, nothing frozen, with stickers on the bags that showed the loaves were from a cool local bakery. They requested to call the baker to verify that FRESH loaves could be provided and then they called me back confirming that everything was setup to go. I showed up this morning and what they gave me was thawing frozen bread with no labels or stickers on the bags. They gave me a marginal discount for the mistake, but when I called later this morning to speak with the person who took my order, I didnt get a real impressive response. I would not say they are not setup for filling orders for 30 loaves of artisan bread unless you want frozen.

Shame on you Tollgate youre now following suit your muffins are now the size of regular cupcakes that used to be the size of Costco with a decent amount of frosting on them. the carrot cake ones that we bought yesterday had a tiny little dollop of frosting in the center. who wants to eat a muffin with barely any frosting on it especially carrot cake! I used to get the hot roast beef and it was amazing the brown gravy used to be to die for with the pot roast and now its this thin lunch meat stuff and the gravy well we wont say what the gravy tasted like. I was really bummed out that this establishment is cutting corners and the quality is not there like it used to be.

The waitress staff are upity too be honest it was un welcoming. When we asked for a booth we received an "eye roll". We waited 15 minutes to get a drink order taken. We ordered our food and waited for 30 min just to get served. Then when it was finally served the food tasted like a Marie Callander boxed meal from Fred Meyer. I have had deli food more fresh then that. The tater tots were overdone, sent them back, just to have the same thing come back only what seemed to be microwaved. There are far better values and quality food in Sandy. The bakery however is great. The woman are always smiling and happy to see you. If you must eat at Toll Gate eat in the bakery.

I was in Tollgate Restaurant this evening with my two grandchildren to order food to go. One order was a childrens order of fish and chips with a side of fruit. When we got home and opened the box, there were two pieces of fish with no chips (fries). When I called to let them know, they said the fish and chips dont automatically come with chips, that the chips are a side dish! I spoke with the manager and he refused to add the chips to our fish and chips, even though I paid full price for a childs meal. We will not be patronizing this restaurant again. Sad. This is a small community and service like this could hurt this establishment.

I went there once and paid with a credit card. I forgot to fill out the lines for tip and total because I gave the tip in cash and I just signed at the bottom and left. A few days later I notice I got overcharged $6 so I tried to dispute it with my bank. A month later they sent me a copy of the receipt and I see that someone had put $6 in the tip line which was NOT in my handwriting. I realize that this was partly my fault but for someone to do something like that is just unethical. The food wasnt even that great and I got overcharged. Needless to say, Im never going back.
