We had been here couple weeks back for a weekend. I love traditional Indian food having grown up in India for like 25 yrs. Only nice thing about this place was that their lunch was a bit out of the ordinary for the Indian community in this area in the sense that they had the thaali style rather than the buffet (all-you-can-eat style). But I am sorry to share the many more things I did not like about this place. First of all, the food wasnt good. It was too creamy, and too salty. Secondly, we did not get a good impression of the person who seemed to be running this place or atleast who was in charge that day. The person was non indian and seemed rude to the indian looking waiters. For me, this says quite a bit about the values at a work place, especially when I see that there is some disrespect right in front of my eyes. It makes me wonder if the workers are being exploited and mistreated.

We love this place. Its getting more popular (at least in the evening) so expect a bit of a wait for the freshly cooked, wonderful food. The wait is worth it. Bollywood movies with English subtitles are playing (silently) on the overhead screen so you can converse with your dinner partner and still enjoy the show. The menu is listed according to type of dish (meat, vegetarian, fish, etc.) so its especially easy for vegans and vegetarians like us to go straight to the good stuff, which is extensive. You can choose the level of spiciness, hence the individual preparation that makes the wait worthwhile. The only problem is choosing among the wide variety of delicious dishes .

Consistently, and over years, this place serves up delicious, no nonsense Indian food. A pleasant and unexpected outcome of prepurchasing/paying for the food, served in an elegant silver-colored platter, is that you enjoy the luxury of sitting at a lovely table with plenty of water (my favorite drink, and you dont have to ask for it!). You eat in peace!!! The restaurant is family-owned and involved daily. And it shows.

A bland taste of Portland. Im from NYC and have spent some time in both South India (Mysore) and Goa. The lack of authentic Indian in Portland is a source of sadness. Thus far, the only passable location Ive found is Swagat, not authentic either, but better than this. The place is clean and well-organized and the woman working the day I visited was friendly, but, seriously, this is warmed-up, frozen dinner level.

Desi person here. We were visiting Portland and so we tried this place out tonight after looking at the Google reviews. This place has 4.5/5 stars because white people dont know real Indian food from whatever it is this place fed us. Remember folks, it was also white people who elected Donald Trump.

If you order from the menu during the evening hours, the dishes are heavenly. Im not a big fan of the lunch buffet (too spicy for my tastes) although the prices are reasonable and the portions are enormous! The garlic naan dipped in the creamy curry sauce is delicious.

Great food. Its spendy, so do it right after part day, but its delicious. I had the Masala curry with Lamb. They have a ton of options to make these delicious curries, and be ready to take notes if you ask because the $10 lunch special is well worth the money!

Its pretty good. I wanted Indian food, found this place and it fit the bill. Lunch is a bit pricey at $9, but there is enough food to fill you up. I think the flavor and spicing lacks depth, but Ive been spoiled by the Indian fare on the west side.

So good! Deceptively large portions made for great leftovers at the hotel. Wonderful staff too. Also had better decor than whats in the pics. Mustve been updated since then. I will definitively be coming back when were back in town.

I love this restaurant. Ive been going to his food cart downtown on SW 4th for over 4 years now and have never had a bad experience. I recently discovered the restaurant and have found the food here to be just as, if not more delicious.

we came to eat lunch, the place was empty but the service was super unfriendly, even hostile! we ordered two wraps - chicken and lamb that were huge with tons of rice and with no veggies - so heavy.... I wont be back...

Good lunch special... But would have enjoyed a bit more selection, but totally understand the necessity for a minimal lunch offering. Nice location, clean inside. Really want to visit for dinner to try more items.

I eat here a couple times a month and always am satisfied. Normally enough food for two meals making the price extremely reasonable. Desserts are always yummy and switched up so you dont ever get bored.

Great place, went for lunch, they happily let us taste all the different dishes before deciding, portions were fantastic, with bottomless rice and naan too. I left stuffed with another meal left over.

A new favorite for me in Portland. The lamb curry was nothing less than amazing. Candice was as friendly as could be and even invited me to finish watching the movie once Id finished eating.

Been eating here for years. First at their food carts, now at their restaurant. One of the best (good food/good prices/accessible) Indian chains in Portland.
