Location: Small place and is right next to Cajun so just look for the big Cajun sign! This is a great place for some home comfort southern cooking. I came here for the chicken and waffles, avocados, and happy hour beer. The chicken and waffles is exactly how I imagined good southern cooking to be. Crispy, battered chicken dunked in spicy oil and served on top of a fluffy waffle with syrup. Ever after the syrup is poured, the crispy battered seems to hold its crunch and the meal is enjoyed thoroughly with every bite. This meal, overall, was very enjoyable. The fried avocados on the other hand, I had wished no salt was used since my palate is satisfied by the salt in the ranch. But besides it being seasoned with coarse salt, the fried avocados were delectable with their house sauce, which encompasses the spices of southern cooking and ranch. Happy hour is the best time to come for the $1 off beers and expect no indoor seating. Most, if not all, seating is placed outdoors but theres no need to fret during winter seasons since there are outdoor heaters and the heat of the food will warm both the body and the soul. The chef and/or owner seems to the run the place by himself and shows a great passion for his cuisines. Very sociable and excellent customer service, I only wish that he had a bigger restaurant and more staff for more people to get a taste of this hole in the wall restaurant.

If you are looking for that spacious location to grab a bite to eat this is not the spot for you, think food cart in a strip mall. With that being said, amazing customer service from the cashier and the house Cackalack sauce is crazy on point. I would say we found our new chicken place. If you are a first timer I would highly suggest you have the cashier walk you thru the process as the level in spicy goes up quick. I had the chicken tenders (trust me they are so not the freeway fast food tenders you might be thinking of). The tenders were cooked thoroughly and didnt have huge amount of breading. The only issue that stopped me from giving this spot five stars is the fact the "owner" interrupted our ordering to talk to cashier about a discount available and never gave us the opportunity to partake of this discount. Sad Face :(

Ive always had great experiences here, but I just walked up tonight, and one of the women helping me kept handling all my food with her bare hands, after handling other things in the kitchen, including her phone and customers money, while not washing her hands in between. She put her whole hand all over my waffle, and then when she forgot my bacon, she just grabbed it with her fingers to toss in the container. Also, they were out of bags, so I had to carry my hot container home. Look, I have kids, so Im not super squeamish about germs, which is why I didnt make a stink about it while there, but it was very unprofessional/not hygienic, and it will make me think twice about going there again until that issue is fixed.

This was probably the worst and most overpriced chicken sandwich that Ive ever had. I really had high hopes and had heard so many good things. The piece of chicken was so greasy that it was not even crispy. I thought there was supposed to be some sort of spicy sauce on it, but there was none. Maybe my order got really screwed up or something? In the picture I took, it looks crispy, but its not... Its so soggy. No flavor to the breading or chicken. I really wanted to like this, but it just wasnt good. Im not paying those prices again just to see if it can get better.

This place is awesome - its near enough to a weekly visit for me. They do "Carolina style" fried chicken that you can get as spicy as you want, or not spicy at all. They do tenders and sandwiches, and have some of the best Cajun fries Ive had. They have a few beers and wines on tap, and a fridge case with bottled soda, and some of the friendliest people working behind the counter in the area. I can easily recommend this place.

Cackalacks is awesome. If you like chicken and you like a meal that will completely fill you up, go here. Their chicken is great. If your not a huge fan of spice, go with the naked sandwich. Theres still a little bit of spice. If you like to sweat a little, get regular. Their fries are great as well with the seasoning.

The chicken is fantastic. I ordered the three-piece hot chicken in the "hot" sauce (your choices are naked, regular, hot, and XXX). I really liked the spice on the "hot" flavor and would actually go for "XXX" the next time I come. Also, they make their own pickles and really want them to sell the pickles by themselves.

Awesome fried chicken, super friendly owner/staff, highly recommend the chicken & waffles! Just a tip, they need better signage out front as its hard to find if youve never been there before, and the bacon that comes w/ the chicken and waffles could be improved/fresher.

Ordered online at 7pm, they closed at 8. Not even a minute after submitting my order I get a call that theyre closing early. Now I have to wait 2 days for my refund of $50.00 and go find something else to eat at 7pm. Thanks cackalacks.

Well-cooked chicken, great fries, good sauces, nice beer selection. Seasoning is disappointing -- not flavorful. Too much cayenne -- pepper was bitter. Found myself peeling off the breading to get at the delicious chicken underneath.

I love this place truly, I live in Texas and every year i find a way to Portland specifically to get some Cackalacks Hot chicken shack. The Jalapy is my favorite of all the sandwhiches, will definitely be back soon.

Food is SERIOUSLY GOOD. A little spicy if youre unprepared, but once you get over that, each bite is packed with flavor. Menu isnt really descriptive, but the staff are more than happy to explain if you ask.

I admit Im a latecomer to the chicken and waffles game, but Ive had been to several places around town now and keep coming back here. If youre into some delicious spicy chicken, this is your place.

Ive always loved this place. It has great food and is very consistent in the taste of the food. The Blazer chicken sandwich and Cajun fries are really good.

Great food, kind of overpriced but you get a large peice of chicken. Everything is made to order so it takes a while for the food to come out.

Chicken was juicy and delicious. Price was fair. Service was sloooooow. 20+ minutes for a sandwich and 5 strips. I think they were overrun.

Staff is amazing, food is absolutely fantastic every time. Reminds me of fried chicken in ATL which is the best nationwide!

Had the chicken strips. Big and tasty. A little too spicy for me, but if you like it that way, you wont be disappointed.
