The Woodman is full of local flavor: decked out in timber harvest decor youd expect to see locals in plaid smelling of pine and oil. Yes, and wearing tie-dye underneath. Theres a strong mix of both in the area. Which may help understand why they have 2 menus- old American standards which the Woodsman has a long history of (for the old timers) and a fantastic Thai menu. If you get a glimpse in the kitchen, the cook I believe is Thai. New items come with the seasons- my favs- mango curry and pumpkin curry. Now, the American food is good, not fantastic. Theres no experimenting here- the old timers would pitch a fit. If you were hoping for a nice thick rare steak- no. That they dont do. Itll be a medium and the cook wont understand (I tried). All meal are large, which means you are getting a fair deal for your money. Expect to take home extras! And you should save room- the deserts are mainly Thai. Even a non-asian food eater will enjoy the Black Rice Pudding. Share it. Its large. As far as I know, its the only Thai in 50 miles or so. And its worth the drive. To get equal quality youd have to go 100 miles or so to Portland.

Nope. I ordered tom kha gai (coconut chicken soup, my favorite) and Drunken noodles. It cost $24.00 and was terrible. The noodles overcooked. TAsted strongly of bamboo shoots and little else. The Soup was too strong and needed coconut milk. There was a chili oil slick all across the soups top layer. Heavy handed seasoning- lemongrass and galangal root (ginger) pieces in the soup were both large (correct) and chopped fine ( incorrect)- these are aromatic additions that are supposed to flavor the broth/sauce and they are too strong and woody to eat as part of the dish, but sliced so small, very hard to not eat. I was greatly disappointed.

Im not sure what happened today, but we went for lunch today and service was awful. We seated ourselves (as instructed), sat for 5 minutes before we got up and asked for menus. We got them, and sat for another 5 minutes after deciding, and the server still didnt come over, but stood at the counter writing notes. I asked her to come take our order, and she said shed be right there. 5 minutes later *again* she hadnt come over yet. We just got up and left at that point. The people that say down before us hasnt gotten any service either. Dont go hungry on a Sunday, I guess.

When I first walked in the server yelled very loudly "This side is for 21 and over ONLY" Im 26 years old and came in with my mother, immediately I was embarrased and for no apparent reason, very rough start. When we finally opened the menus we noticed how expensive the food was, its about $20 per head. We both ordered pastas and when we got our food, they were large portions but the food was nothing more than average. For the both of us the final bill was $50 for 2 orders of pasta & 2 beers. The interior was small & uncomfortable. You could hear everyones conversations.

For Corvallis area food, it really does not get much better than this. None of the Thai places in Corvallis even come close. The food is excellent and portions are so generous that I (admittedly a woman who eats less than some people) can get 1-2 meals out of the leftovers. I love the coconut ice cream as well-- it is homemade, with real pieces of coconut. Even better, you can take your friends who arent into Thai as the American food is apparently quite good. To get this quality of food at such a great value, its definitely worth the trip to Philomath.

Probably the most interesting Thai food youll find outside of Portland. Note to reader: this is not traditional Thai so dont order like it. If you come here and get pad Thai, your wasting your time. Woodsman has some very interesting dishes that you just wont find any where else. Think of the woodsman as Thai cooking, but with the ingredients you would fid in oregon. I would highly recommend their apple curry, or any of the mushroom dishes. Definately philomaths best kept secret. Also, burgers the size of a dinner plate.

This is my favorite Thai place that I have ever tried. The portions are (Trump voice) HUGE! I can order a curry dish and it lasts me two and half meals. I love the Masaman curry and the green curry. Their fried tofu with plum sauce make a perfect appetizer. Staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is cozy. I dont care that the Thai food here isnt 100% authentic, it tastes good and I leave full plus I have leftovers. The restaurant itself isnt upscale, but the food served here is top notch.

After passing by this place many times we finally worked up the courage to give it a try. The Thai food was amazing! They offer a variety of unique dishes for the culinary adventurer as well as common favorites. The Thai desserts are a delightful experience! I have to confess I have never tried their American fare the Thai food just smells so good when you walk in. The atmosphere is comfortable, the place is clean, and the service is prompt. I highly recommend giving it a try.

Two years ago this place was great. Went tonight and the food and service was just awful. The Pad Thai tasted like they had used a shitload of terryaki sauce instead of Pad Thai sauce. I only finished a quarter of it because it was like gnawing on a chunk of salt. It took the waitresses 10 minutes to take our order, and the kitchen 35 minutes to get our order out, so I declined to have them re-make it and left most of it.

Service was great and family friendly. My wife and I ordered the fish and chips. This was some of the best fish and chips Ive ever had. The fish was lightly battered, was served hot and crispy. The potatoes were freshly cut and seasoned. Prices were very reasonable the wait time was excellent. Oh and props to Stephanie, she worked so hard having to waitress all the tables during a busy afternoon. Thank you.

Went with a couple friends for lunch the other day and just sat down to eat my THIRD serving of leftovers. The portions were huge and the food was wonderful - rivaled Portland quality. We had Palam, Shrimp and Green Beans and Pineapple Friend Rice. If we hadnt been so stuffed we would have gone for dessert, too. Dont know what the other food is like, but the Thai is awesome - so was the service!

The food was hot, fresh and delicious. The waitress was very friendly and parking was good. We both had pad thai - one chicken and one beef. Our postickers were also great. $11ish for a lunch priced entree but $12+ for the dinner pricings. Each dish of the pad Thai was enough food for one person to eat 3 meals! You definitely get your moneys worth. Will eat again for sure!
