Bombs is an institution of it own. Over the years it had it ups and downs. Currently Bombs food is sliding into mediocre. Consistently this place is great for drinks. Food is more haphazard. Food tends to be spiced too hot or too bland. The red, green, or combined "Christmas" sauce are still good. Simple things like rice and black beans USED to be great -- now the black beans are bland and devoid of flavor. I swear the current "spanish rice" came from the same box that my college cafeteria used (and was served cold). The fries are still spicy and goes well with libations. The burger meat was great but anything w/ diablo sauce is too hot for kids (even if there is bacon on it). Dinner was rescued by a decent dessert of chocolate pate (rum or whiskey infused) with berry reduction and vanilla ice cream -- had to keep the kids and myself from licking the plate. The environment was fine for sitting up front. It was not too loud, did not have to compete with music to have a conversation. Temperature was fine for warm summer evening, neither too hot or too cold.

Very disappointed with this place. To be fair, they were very busy but that should have been anticipated on a Saturday night. Enough so that they should have had the foresight to schedule more than one server. You seat yourself so we took a table right after the last customers left. They cleared the table, but no one offered to wipe up after them. Even after I requested for them to bring something for me to wipe the table with, nothing was done about it. We ordered right when we sat down, and it took over 40 minutes to receive two simple meals. For about 15 minutes of that wait, we could see our food just sitting there under their heater with no one bothering to bring it over until we asked the waiter what was taking so long. We had to cancel an order for a side because the waiter forgot to put it in. I had high hopes for this place - heard a lot of good things about it. All I can say about the food (a burrito and beef taquitos) was that it definitely was not worth the wait. Youd be far better off going to the Chipotle down the street.

I was really disappointed by Bombs Away. The menu sounded great, and its certainly a hot spot around campus, but the food is just not very good. If you want "rice and beans" expect burnt rice and LITERALLY PLAIN, flavorless, unseasoned, unembellished black beans. I couldnt believe the beans didnt even have salt and pepper on them. It was like they were steamed out of a can and put on a plate?? The "corn salsa" is just corn and onions. It is very bland, and to be honest I felt a little cheated that there wasnt more to the salsa. The food obviously cuts a lot of corners in quality and flavor and composition. They dont use any sort of authentic white cheese on the Mexican food, but rather choose to use some "bagged shredded cheddar" stuff-- a frequent problem I find in Corvallis. The red enchilada sauce was just plain not good, making the dish inedible. If you care more about price and speed over flavor and quality, this place might be for you-- but if you want a cheap, good quality taqueria-style eatery, seek elsewhere.

This was my first time visiting Bombs Away. My family was there to see some friends perform live music from 8:45 to 10 pm. The "seasoned fried potatoes" I ordered tasted soggy and bland. They reminded me of cheap reheated fries from the freezer section of the grocery store. The drinks were good and we enjoyed the live music. Our good time was cut short by an inexperienced waitress asking us to leave because my son was underage. This was at 9:39 pm. I reassured my son she was wrong because I had called ahead and told he was allowed until 10, but it made him uncomfortable and we left early because of this. The amount of smoke coming in through the front door also contributed to our decision to leave early, as there was a large group of smokers blocking the doorway.

I love the atmosphere of the bar area in the back. Im giving this a 2 star rating because of my last experience here. I was meeting up with some friends for a dinner get together. It took about 25 minutes to place our orders. A couple minutes after ordering, a bouncer went through the entire establishment taking cover fees for the comedy performance. My party had no intention of staying as long as we had and we felt obligated to stay because of our order timing.

Pretty cool spot if youre looking catch some live music. I had my fair share of drinks, danced, and had a great time with people I dont quite remember. I also ordered the food, and its not bad. I think I had the nachos with some sort of sampler. Nothing to write home about, but it should satisfy your hunger while having a few cocktails or beers. This is a place I would come to specifically for the talent they are showcasing. Cheers.

Pretty much the best overall place to get to know in town; it does not discriminate. Killer food and almost the only place to actually see amazing live and largely local music. I should take a star off for how difficult it is to get a drink when its busy... But thats pretty much a plague for this whole town.

This place has great food. I dont know what they put in their corn salsa but it makes things taste amazing. Their wet burritos are awesome, too. Also, the bar in the back is awesome. Margaritas, Long Islands and Wells during the week. On top of that they have music on Friday and Saturday nights.

The service here is not good. I never know if there is going to be table service or if we need to order at the bar. Sometimes it switches halfway through our visit. But if you can put up with that, the queso is great, the bomber taco is bomb, and the beer list rarely disappoints.

Five stars for the monthly open mic. Get there early and sign up or sit through drunks making it up as they go. The sound is decent here, as it is a small room. If I still drank I would hang out in the back bar which is a cool quiet brick-featured room inductive to libations.

For a filling dish of decent food and a good beer will cost you around $12-$16. Amazing staff, fun very relaxed atmosphere. The ubiquitous corn chips and guacamole are must. Also try the mac and cheese (penne and parmesan actually, fantastic) and the burrito platter.

Great cocktails and margaritas. Their specialty cocktails are delicious - pricier than places down the street, but worth it. Fridays are beer specials, and theres usually something for everyone. Food is also good, but a little spendy for what you get.

Chicken and rice burrito smothered in "gumbo" was awful. Tastes like a mega food distributor (Cisco) wrote the recipe. Processed, no shrimp or heat in the gumbo, etc. sorry guys, gotta do more than pour taco seasoning on shredded chicken.

This is an awesomely quaint little place with amazing food. Would prefer to NOT have corn on my nachos though, but everything else was awesome. Went to see my cousin Jenna Summer Smith sing last night and she was amazing too !!!

Fantastic beer! Best wings in town, and they now have a Wednesday special on them aforementioned wings, even though they arent good as the regular ones that come with those awesome onions. You gotta do the Yunlao-Diablo sauce!
