No service, for your phone or from your waitress. I had been wanting to take my boyfriend here for a while, because I always had great experiences here. However times have changed. Once seated we told our waitress we needed just a few minutes to look over the menu which is standard for anyone who goes out to eat, unless you are a regular. She returned approximately 20 minutes later to take our order. We thought perhaps this was because of people eating outside, but we couldnt see what it was like because we were seated in front of he restaurant. Once our order was taken we waited and waited. After about 25 minutes we saw our waitress leave with her purse in hand, for what we were later told was her "break". Meanwhile the hostess was giving me nasty looks because I kept looking at her thinking maybe she would flag someone to see if we needed anything. After 30 minutes another waiter came and asked how everything was, and we told him that we were still waiting for our food and that it had been quite some time. Finally after about a total of 35 minutes since ordering the cook brought out our food which was room temperature. My order was inaccurate, and our food was cold but since we were so hungry we ate it anyways. Nobody followed up to ask how anything was, or if we needed refills on our drinks. After we were done eating we waited about 20 more minutes for someone to bring us a check until my boyfriend got up and asked for a manager. They claimed that nobody knew our waitress was leaving, and their solution to our terrible experience was to give us 20% off the check. I paid, and kindly let them know I would not be returning, and how disappointed I was. They didnt seem to care. Take your money elsewhere.

The restaurant was very clean and bright. We ate outside on the patio. There was a nice view of the lake. The food was bland and neither dish come out correctly. One person ordered fajitas Texans but the order came out incomplete. When the rest of the order did came out, the waitress said, "Sorry it took so long, it was sent to the wrong table." I was in shock that she said such a thing. How do we know if the other diner didnt touch the food? The other person ordered the lunch Burrito Cali which was supposed to be served with beans and rice. The burrito came out but there were no beans and rice. $2.49 for a soda seems a bit excessive. I also asked for my receipt back and Im glad I did. After doing the math, it appears as though they are overcharging customers for the tax. My sub-total was $23.47 with the CORRECT tax, my total should have been $25.00 with our tax being 6.50%. I was charged $25.05 which means I was charged a tax of 6.75%. Granted, 5 cents might not seem like a lot, but multiply that by each and every check and it adds up. It is unlikely that I will visit this restaurant again.

We noticed the banner saying under new management so we decided to give this place a try. The good: The service from the waitress was excellent. She was on the ball and we did not have to ask for anything. The bad: 1. The place smelled like an old musty house and it was so dark inside we could not read the menus. 2. It took 45 minutes to get our food after placing order with us being the only customers in the establishment. 3. The orders did not come out correct. 4. The fajitas, rice, beans, and tortillas all came out on the same plate. No sizzling skillet. 5. The quality of the food was not worthy of the price. The portions were a lot smaller than a typical Mexican restaurant and tasted like it came out of a can. 6. The restroom smelled like a basement and had no toilet paper; we had to use paper towels.

There is no Papasito in this place. I am fairly certain a Mexicano doesnt work in the kitchen Nor is there anything Mexican about the food. Ortega prepackaged tortillas is not authentic mexican. Nor is ground beef in a fajita or chimichaunga but what else could you expect when your food embarrasses your staff. No identity, no clue, no talent and cooks goal is to deliver memorable dishes from heartburn not serviceable food. As a Senoran this place is best described as an embarrassment to all of Mexico because a microwave, discount premade tortillas and not a concept of the flavors of textures of Mexico is an embarrassment to the culture. Hopefully self indulgent Papasito realizes his incompetence and closes soon.

Cant possibly see how other people have complaints, maybe it was a busy time. Anyways for my gf and I we stopped in and the building and location is perfect and we sat on the back patio. Service was excellent, the waiter we had was very attentive and even the manager at the time walked around making sure everything was good. The food, a little on the pricey side for a Mexican joint but location and how nice the place is I figured meh. The food was excellent! Giant portions and the first place to actually have good rice in my mind, they have specials on margaritas and draft beer on Wednesday and margarita was damn good. Honestly 4.5/5 only because the place is a little pricey.

Changed the name to Castillo Real. Doesnt matter what the name is it is the worst. We went there for the beautiful view. Beef burrito had old ground meat in it. It stunk as I brought the fork up to my mouth. The bees were so bad that we had to eat inside. Then an employee was doing something in the sink (washing dishes??) and the whole area was overcome with dirty sour water smell. We ordered frozen margaritas. They suggested regular because the machine wasnt freezing yet. There was hardly any tequilla in the pitcher then charged us $20 for it. Never will go back again. Needs to be on the show Restaurant Impossible for major updates on decor and food. CANCEL

I took my family here AFTER reading the reviews and still wanted to give this place a try as we love Mexican food. The only thing this place has going for it is the historic structure and lake view! The food was cold, minimal, simply HORRIBLE! The server was filthy, her clothes didnt fit, just completely wrong for the position! (However, thumbs up for having a tax paying job! Seriously!) There were tapped numbers, labeling each table, on the walls, recess lighting over the lighting in the restroom, and NO MEXICAN EMPLOYEES! I would not recommend this restaurant for any of our out of state visitors!!!

First off, I do have to say I love this place as far as location, patio, and the view of the lake goes. Perfect spot to hang out in the evening with friends. However, I hate this place for its service or lack thereof. The amount of time you have to wait for a table, a menu, a drink, your food, drink refill, your bill, etc. is absolutely ridiculous. Ive witnessed the staff socializing and gossiping more than actually taking care of its customers. The food is equal to that of any other local low budget Mexican restaurant only double the price. Save your time and money and go somewhere else.

Sat with an empty glass while the server came to my table twice. Ordered a side of sour cream for my meal and was never brought out. When he finally realized he forgot it, my meal was half way gone. This was my second visit, first was similar, and I wont return for a third. Its a shame because I enjoy the patio and view. We spoke to another guest who must be a regular and he said something to another server. She came out and apologized and offered a complimentary margarita, which was nice. Too bad she wasnt our server from the start.
