Friend took me out for lunch a few weekends ago. I dont usually get out this way. He leaves near Big Walnut High School. Mudflats is in Galena at the top edge of the Hoover Reservoir. I like Galena, it has a teensy weensy little town square area. Mudflats is one of the restaurants here. The food is good, I mean its your typical bar and grill TJI Fridays/Max & Ermas type of restaurant. So hamburgers, fish & chips, different kinds of salads. I got a burger and fries, and they were good. Our server was friendly. Apparently they have live music, but we went in the afternoon so I cant really comment on that. The big reason why I like this restaurant is its proximity to the Hoover mudflats boardwalk trail. About a 2-5 minute walk away is this little parking lot, at the end is the boardwalk. The boardwalk is awesome, its maybe half a mile long and juts out into Hoover. Its just fantastic. You can see all kinds of birds, at the end of the boardwalk you can look out at the water and there are these poles jutting out where these massive nests are located. Im not sure if these are bald eagle nests or what, but theyre pretty big. So Mudflats restaurant gets extra kudos from me, for being close to the Hoover mudflats.

Very bad experience from start to finish at this establishment. We arrived at 7:15pm on a Tuesday with a party of 8, 3 of which were small children and apparently could not be seated together. This was odd because it was not busy. Service was poor from the beginning, had to go to bar twice to get soda refills, but was holding out hope for the food. The kids were finally served at 8:30, an hour after we were seated. They all got the same thing, pasta and meatballs. It gets worse. The adults food didnt show up until 9pm, an hour and a half after we were seated. We ordered a salad, a hamburger, a queadilla, and wings. This doesnt take 1.5 hours anywhere in the world. A waitress apologized saying they were working on a new menu, odd because nothing we ordered was a new item. She told us twice the manager would be over to talk to us but that never happened and instead discounted the order 15 percent. There was only 2 other partys in the restaurant so the poor experience was not due to a large crowd. The food was average bar food and I give the salad a C. Overall, however, it was the worst dining experience Ive had in years. I will not go back and neither should you.

We were actually planning on going some place else for dinner but decided to eat here a couple Fridays ago. I like the environment- it remind me of back home. The staff was very friendly and attentive. However, the food was just OK. We started with the cajun battered shrimp. When they came out it looked like something i could make in my own kitchen and there was no cajun season..just heavy batter on shrimp. My wife didnt eat any but i did because i was hungry and didnt feel like complaining (until now). Our sandwiches were better than the app not so good that i would have a craving to come back. The booze was very good. Not sure if I will return anytime for the remainder of this year.

Went on a Friday night, early evening. Band was warming up, then playing during our dinner. VERY LOUD place. I cant emphasize enough how loud this place was. Food was okay to bad. The Reuben was fine, the fish and chips were fine, the belly buster (I think it was called) had horrible, unidentifiable meat in it. I think it was beef, but it looked like semi-cooked bacon, it was so stringy and fatty. Service was poor. Waited a long time for food and then waitresses seemed to disappear once the music started. Might be okay for a lunch, but never again on a Friday or Saturday night.

Since our first visit to Mudflats weve taken a real fancy to it. Their cajun-esque menu has us stumped on what to order each time we visit and consistently planning our next trip so we can try more. Great beer selection and a lovely patio along with solid blues and rock cover bands makes this place a great reason to call a babysitter. Only complaints, great sauces but puny wings (I still order a fiver of them every time, though) and... well, I think thats my only complaint. Well done Mudflats!

We went there to eat dinner. The live music was beyond obnoxiously loud, couldnt hear the server. So we finished our drinks and left to go somewhere else. So if you want to have a screaming match with a band to try ordering something and have to point at a menu like a caveman. Maybe create a new found hearing problem? Then this is the place for you. Yes you could go eat outside and share your meal with the local insect population but I dont recommend that either.

Fiancee and I decided to ride out and check out this place since it had mostly good reviews. Overall, it was pretty good. Food was pretty good, but the service was a little lacking. We had to wait about 10 minutes to get our drinks after ordering them and at one point I got frustrated and walked up to the server to ask for something because I got tired of waiting for her to come check on us. My attempts to flag her down failed.

Love the atmosphere of this small town restaurant. You get the feel that staff knows most of the customers coming in. Great live music on the weekends. Walkway on the Hoover Reservoir is within walking distance and makes for a nice post-dinner walk. Servers seem very good at their job. -1 star for teen girl hostess not seating us quickly because she was texting on her phone and bluefredo steak entree was lacking in quality

I ordered a simple hamburger with tomato and onion medium well w/ chips,$10.99. When served it was burnt around the edges had 2 little tiny rings of onions and a small slice of tomato with the core in it and with chips that where over cooked.I had to ask for a slice of onion for my burger. To pricey for a burger in the first place and and to serve it this way wasnt very appealing to me .

Service was absolutely abysimal. Waited 10 minutes to place drink orders, another 10 to actual get drinks. ~30 minutes to place food order and another 30 to get food. And it was almost impossible to get someone to actually refill/replace drinks. After the initial order our waitress never visited our table again despite her going to other tables.

Server/Bartender was great never went low on drinks. However, highly disappointed in the prime rib. Absolutely disgusting and I would never force that on anyone. Potatoes were good, but barely any in the bowl, fries were basic and the Cole slaw was shrug worthy. Overall I would never go here again. Way over priced for disappointment
