Great breakfast! Dropped in right at opening on a Sunday morning at 9am, greeted with a smile and grabbed a seat at the bar. Less than a minute later had a fresh cup of coffee and was looking thru the menu trying to decide. Chose the traditional, couple eggs, bacon, hash browns, and a couple pancakes, seemed like just a few minutes and there it was, coffee was being topped off and asked if there was anything else I needed. I pretty much devoured, ok inhaled it. When you have a piping hot breakfast presented in minutes of ordering what else is there to do?! Although I tend to stay close to traditional with breakfast I saw some interesting items that looked good too, the guy next to me was chowing down on some huevos rancheros smelled delicious! I could tell there were a large number of locals that made this a Sunday ritual and with good reason. Both the staff and the customers would call each other by their first names and chit chat about the weeks happenings. I really dug the style of the place, setup somewhat like 50s diner with a touch of today, its got that small hometown diner feel thats very welcoming, when you walk in you know youre going to enjoy what ever you decide to order. If I had been in town longer I would have been back to try the biscuits and redeye gravy as that looked as good as it smelled!

Boil the dog till it is grey. Put it in a soggy white bun. Throw a slight smattering of “chili” on the dog and bun. If you don’t have that around cook up some ground beef and put a dash of ketchup in it and call it chili. Let the onions sit out and bathe them in water to remove the pungent onion taste. After placing the onions forget to put the mustard on as is necessitated by the term Coney. Phillip you are a disgrace to the world of Coney dogs. You botched the Coney dogs. Worst Coney I have had. A grey dog with horrid chili and tasteless onions. Whoever is giving Phillip’s five and four star ratings should scrape their taste buds out with a hot soldering iron while mountain biking. You clearly have not sampled a good Coney; let alone a hotdog that is cooked properly. To find the best Coney you need to travel to Detroit: Lafayette Coney Island 118 W Lafayette. Be sure to check the address because only one is the original.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Its tiny but has the best breakfast in Columbus especially considering the price. Philco nails the classic diner vibe but somehow enhances it by adding modern design touches. Youll get the full experience by sitting up at the bar where you can joke around with your bartender/server and witness all of the action. The menu has all the classic breakfast dishes with a focus on Mexican dishes. The breakfast tacos with chorizo are the best executed tacos Ive ever had. If youve got late night cravings, they serve breakfast all day and youll be able to score some rotating brews as well. I honestly hope people dont find out about this place because right now its the perfect breakfast dive.

A friend introduced this spot when we were meeting up. Their menu selection is simple but great! Been here 3 times and only once did they have a small wait, but were quick to attend us. I absolutely recommend their Chorizo Chili Soup. One of my favorite things to get when I come here and when I bring a friend who is trying Philco for the first time they always love it. Its a bit snug in the inside but the interior itself has a unique atmosphere. If youre not a fan of Short North parking, like myself, that is the only downside I could find about this location. Otherwise the location itself is great and I would highly recommend it.

I would disregard the one-star tear-jerker about the lack of AC. It was broken that one day (I was actually there that day, too, and wonder if that was the same dude who rudely yelled across the bar about it being too hot but still not leaving) and they fixed it very quickly the next day. Air conditioners are machines that break sometimes, especially after working like crazy during weeks upon weeks of intense heat and humidity. Get the egg tacos and Brussels sprouts--they are absolutely incredible and perfectly prepared. The Gin and Jam drink is tasty and refreshing on a hot day. The staff is super friendly and helpful.

We are consistently at Philco 1-2 times each month. The servers are always friendly and know the menu. They give helpful feedback, also with cocktails (which are very good... their blood mary is ridiculous). If there is a wait to be seated, it moves quickly. The food is a modern twist on classic comfort food. Were vegetarian, but still have options at any time of day. I especially appreciate the atmosphere. They seem to have put thought into the layout and lighting (No blinding bright spots like other restaurants). Very comfortable experience always, and we love Philco!

I love Philco, great appetizers, nice rotation of craft beers, decent bar. This used to be a cony joint for years, when the original owner retired the new owners bought the recipe for the cony dog sauce, so make sure you try the mini cony dog appetizer. The breakfast biscuit (served all day) and the sweet chili meatloaf are show stoppers. Seating can be dicey as its mostly very large booths they like to reserve for groups, but sitting at the counter is a good time. Nice staff, great food, reasonable prices for the Short.

This place has potential to be nice but I had a horrible experience here. The building seems to have NO AC...and it was 120 degrees in there, it seemed. It honestly ruined my experience. I was uncomfortable, the employees seemed MISERABLE, the service definitely seemed to be suffering from the heat because our waiter came by rarely because he needed to take so many water breaks. I felt horrible for them, but this seriously ruined my experience. Fix the AC! I would come back and update review.

Ive been several times. The food is well executed and accessible. The bloodies are good on a Sunday morning. And the service has been chill and accommodating. I love the ambiance and decor. Its casual yet chic. Comfortable, yet modern. Also, its a small place, but Ive never had an issue with seating. The only draw back is their very limited selection of spirits. For my part, its a complete non-issue as they stock my brand. Overall, chill place to talk and have a drink.

In my year and a half of living in Columbus, I have yet to experience anything nearly as phenomenal as the food I had here tonight. I tried the pot roast and corn bread and can easily say it was the best meal that Ive had in years! Definitely a nice, quiet & cozy gem of the city and a must-try (especially for a dinner date; you will not be disappointed - we loved it)!

If you are thinking about coming here, just do it already! The food is great and the service is stellar. Food prices are unbeatable for the short north. My go to is the cornbread and Phillips Jr. burger. The only drawback is that if you are in a bigger party than 2 you are likely going to have a wait on the weekends.

I have been going to coney island ever since I can remember. My Grandmother worked there years ago. Its my childrens favorite place to eat at. The owner is the sweetiest man, and the staff is always friendly and delightful. I recomend everyone try this place at least once, but Im sure youll keep going back!
