Pretentious, rude, and irrational treatment of a customer paying $15 for a pizza. I will not be a repeat customer and shouldve left with / or without a refund. I just moved to this side of town and was stoked because pizza is my favorite, and the first two times I went it was a pleasant experience. I called in to order carry out as I was in a bit of a rush and I knew the pizza would be cooked within 90 seconds (thats what I was told last time). I was asked how long it would take to drive there - 10 minutes tops. Then told that they wouldnt fire the pizza until Ive arrived, as it only takes 5 minutes to cook. I said "its ok, you can fire the order because Ill be there in 10." Whats the big deal? It wasnt going to be eaten right away anyways because I was going to work. I was told its against their policy to do so because they want their pizza to be "fresh". I was confused and said "ummm....ok" but stupidly agreed to pick it up. When I showed up, the grown women who appeared to be in her 30s or 40s repeatedly shouted my name to the kitchen and announced that I was here. It was obnoxious and insane. The other dine in guests looked perplexed. Clearly I was being mocked by this woman/child working the cash register. I shrugged it off and put money in the tip jar and waited while feeling really uncomfortable. Then some guy presented me my pizza with the lid open and said "This is your pizza. See your pizza? Its a really good pizza." WTF??? I said "I know. Ive had it before. Its delicious." Then I had to remind them that I had also ordered a coke which they forgot. It was handed to me by a cook who wouldnt even look me in the eye. This time, the pizza was a little under-cooked and lacked the wood fired char all around with mushy toppings. Lack-luster compared to my other 2 experiences. If they were trying to prove something to me by getting the pizza done in 5 minutes then they missed the mark. Instead of telling people their version about their "policy" on carry out, they should just admit that the pizza dies within minutes and gets cold if you dont eat it right away - which I didnt even care about at the time because I intended to warm it up later. Maybe a customer service policy should be put into place instead, because this place is a joke with no tradition to back up the air of superiority and ridiculous attitude towards paying customers.

So. Citizen Pie. What can I really say about this place? Its a very small and cozy little pizza joint. You can see the staff making pizzas all the way through the process and can even see inside the oven to watch your pie bubble up as it makes its way to your table. Theres less than 30 chairs in the place, so dont expect a big place when you show up :) It takes about 90 seconds to bake, but a few minutes to assemble -- overall a very quick experience if theres not much of a line. The crust is the perfect thin and crispy chewy textured kind of thing that you expect from a wood fired oven. The toppings seem fresh and are very tasty. I got a Margherita and watched as the guy making it pulled basil leaves off a bundle of fresh basil, Lisa got the Spanish pie with Manchego and Chorizo and it was also brilliant. At around 11-12" apiece, theyre a little big for a personal pizza (unless you believe in yourself) and a little small to be shared. Id say get one each and either show up hungry or plan to save a slice or 2 for breakfast. This morning I had a piece from the pepperoni pie I took home cold for breakfast and that was pretty great too :) 5 stars, a bunch of thumbs up, and a hearty recommendation to try it out yourself.

Granted, we showed up about a half hour before the posted closing time, but we asked the cook if he was still serving. He smiled and said yes. We sat down and looked at the menu. The only other staff person (perhaps a server, perhaps a cleaning lady) started scrubbing the floor and glared at us. After several attempts to get her attention we decided it was time to leave. We spent about 20 minutes there (way too long) and we left when there was still about 15 minutes left on the clock before closing.

Possibly the Best pizza place in the Midwest. Everything from ingredients, incl dough, to finished pie and service comes from The Book of Ideals. Well worth the trek to get there, and Im not even going to mention the mural that alone makes the trip worthwhile. Citizens Pie is far, far beyond pizza.

Food is good. Its really up there on the good pizza scale. And as most good pizza places they dont deliver... what sucks is when you order carry out and then drive there after they say ready in ten minutes, you get there 15 min later and they havent started making it yet.

it was a great big hassle for a very expensive little pizza. maybe if the place is not at all busy it might have been a better experience. After the wait and hassle it was under cooked. For the money there are plenty of better options in the neighborhood. I wont go back

Citizen Pie never disappoints. Last night my pizza came out a little burnt, but not inedible, and before I could say anything, they brought out an entirely new pizza for me in a box to go. Customer service was great and the pizza was delicious!

Back for my second night in a row. I have not had pizza this good since my wife and I were in Italy. The crust is the perfect combo of thin crisp crunch and doughy chew. All the toppings are fresh. A small gem that is worth hunting down.

Delicious pies! Of course it takes a couple of Lithuanian guys to figure out how to do Italian pizza the right way. Only thing the place needs is a few Velvet Tango Room cocktails from Paulius Nasvytas and our own Neimanas brewed Krupnikas.

Friendly staff. No wait staff "cafeteria" style eatery. Ordered the Cacio pepe and Little Italy and found them both bland and under seasoned. Initially checked out this place due its online buzz.. Needless to say, I wont be going back.

Great wood fired pizza. Excellent customer service. Employees were friendly and had good suggestions about where to find vinyl records. Will definitely be back with friends before a show at the Beachland Ballroom.

Pizza was pretty great and its definitely not your typical pizza. It was a little soft in the middle, maybe it needed a couple more minutes in the oven, but still good and Ill be coming back here again.

vitrus and his team have created a neapolitan pie with a light , perfectly charred crust and toppings that are carefully sourced and paired in such a way that each pie is unique and well balanced.
