The Cabana is a riverside Bar that happens to serve great food. I have friends who drive from all over Ohio just to go there, Apparently The food and atmosphere must be pretty good, as the place is always packed . Those of you who pan it apparently dont understand,...there are some things people need to remember to enjoy this establishment. It is a Bar ! ( with Great Food ),.. Not a restaurant with Good drinks... As a Bar it attracts adults, of all kinds, From Bikers to Bankers..people come to drink and eat. It is great to see so many different types of people enjoying themselves together Some people smoke,( But in every case Ive encountered , The smokers, (There arent that many)...will move or stop.) Some people bring their kids, and I commend The Cabana for offering some kids fare. I guess somebody brought a Dog..( not a service Dog,...Just a dog)..I love dogs and they fit great at a sidewalk coffee shop,...But.. This is a Bar! The bad thing which (we think is a good thing)... about this Bar is ...the food is fantastic, The owner spends much more to get the best quality avaiiable in items he offers. The portions are great and the servers have always been courteous, even when they have to deal with some constant complainer types. I read about some who complain about service for a party of 40 ( and even more ) Cmon,.. 40 or more ?? that would be tough for a caterer to do, Let alone a Bar that serves food. What brought you to choose to eat at the Cabana in the first place? Enough already, We have been going there for a couple decades and really enjoy seeing the success the Cabana on the River has achieved. We see they are now expanding and adding some more entertainment. Congratulations Cabana,.. We wish you the best,...and we love your bar, and its great food.

Friends took us here for dinner and drinks. First the good. Really, really good food. This place serves large portions of tasty food on polystyrene plates in an open air environment right next to the Ohio River. The drink prices are great too with a good selection of beer on tap or bottled. The staff are very friendly and want to make sure you have a good meal and great time with them. We did enjoy our time and the food was good. Now the bad. Being open air, smoking is permitted. Being a non smoker I found the wafts of cigarette and cigar smoke annoying and distasteful. The law is the law, so there was nothing I could do about that. The smokers spoiled a good day out, so I can only give the place 3 stars because of that. A pity, because it would have ranked higher.

If you have a large group, this is not the place to go. You will wait longer than you would have expected. 2 hours!! They refuses to give you an approximate time you can expect to be seated. Not to be completely negative the food was good and very young waitresses seem to be doing they best but stretched a little thin. So the little things like extra napkins or a different dressing we got up and got then ourself. There was always a line at the cash register to tally the bills. That holds up the waitress even more. This place might be OK if you have 4 or 6 in your party. The restroom need some fixing up. The prices are little high but, your on the river and you will pay for that atmosphere. Everything is served in throw away containers and plastic utensils.

This place has found a way around Ohios non-smoking laws because it is outside though under cover. They do NOT offer a non-smoking area nor offer to move you when smokers are nearby. Two men smoking cigars were at the next table. The place reeked and my wife got sick from the smoke. Wait staff insisted there was nothing they could do. Would also not allow me to switch out rice for a vegetabe (even though I was willing to pay). Too bad--the setting is great and the food is good. Our group of eight people will NOT be returning. Mentioned to a friend that we werent returning without telling the story, and the first thing he asked was "was it the smoke?" He had a similar experience and wont go back either. An email to the establishment went unanswered.

When Cabana is hopping there are no where near enough waitresses to cover the tables. We had group of 30, waited 2 hours at bar to get seated to eat, still not enough tables grabbed for us.??Then as food orders came out mixed up & plain wrong they argued wiith customers - in their face - that they were wrong. Very embarrassing customer service and they lost 1/2 the dinner business who would have stayed spent plenty for partying after dinner. Not thinking out of the box to accommodate a group, refusing to allow us to pull any tables or even extra chairs together - even out on the open grass. Nice ambiance, rude management and wait staff. Not a big group activity. Ill never go again and my husband and his cousins, classmates grew up down there!

I am the activity director for a 300 home retirement community. I have been taking our seniors there for over 15 years. I took them there today to enjoy the scenery, but not so much the food, and we were treated very badly from the moment we walked in. We were told in no uncertain terms that we were not welcome. Even though all of our seniors pay full price, like everyone else, we were told the tables on the lanai "were for paying customers!" REALLY??? My seniors are somehow not paying customers? The rudeness of the staff was not only extended to us, but also to other senior citizens who were there at the same time. My only guess is the owners and management has changed recently, and anyone over 60 is no longer welcome.

We had a party for around 80 people or more there on Saturday. Some of the party stayed later to have drinks and talk and some came later. The staff got rude and told them they were tying up the two tables that were left out of the eight or more we had, and they had told them they had been there too long. Not a great way to get return business. We like the place but we were there to have a good time, not to make sure the staff got every dine they could squeeze out of everyone. We spent a lot of money. The food was fine but some of the rude staff need to go south. I doubt if we will have another big party there so if they dont need the business fine. There are other places to go.

The pros: The food has improved over the years. If you can get a table outside, there is a nice view of the river. They text you when your table is ready. Many tropical drinks to sip on while you wait. Cons: Its extremely loud under the awning where most of the tables are located. On a Tuesday night, we waited 45 mins for an inside table. They only have plastic utensils. The prices are all over the place. I ordered 3 fish tacos and they cost $17!! Absolutely ridiculous. My friend had filet mignon for $15 and had to use a plastic knife to. The steak should not have cost less than 3 fish tacos. They were the most expensive tacos Ive ever eaten and definitely not the best.
