My daughter and I now refer to this place as ‘The Frat House that never graduated’. My daughter goes to Akron and last summer she kept talking about how great this place was so this year when we brought her to school in the fall I decided to try it out with her. The long line was promising to me because I thought no one would wait in line on a hot day like it was for something that wasn’t worth it. I was due for incredible disappointment. Once in the Deli it took less than three minutes for the entire staff to be staring at my daughters’ chest and butt. It was a hot day and yes she is a very attractive girl……but that doesn’t mean that they can stare at her drooling. One of the men actually knocked another worker out of the way to take my daughters order and stared at her chest the entire time. He was older. The younger ones were more subtle, but I used to teach high school students and I know when boys are using coded words to describe a woman/point her out to his friends. I flat out heard one of them mutter “I want that so bad” while making another customer a sandwich. I checked and yes, he was wearing a wedding ring. I was not impressed. The week of Thanksgiving I went to pick up my daughter and decided to try it again, this time at night. I admit it was a complete change of atmosphere. The staff were not even trying to hide anything and were just openly talking/joking about sex, making the jerking off motion (again, I taught high school, I know what that is guys) and the music was some form of rap loaded with swearing. Again, not what I would expect from a place claiming to be a ‘family’ business. I tried one more time at the end of the school year while helping my daughter move out. This time we decided to test the theory—she wore baggy, messy clothes and no makeup while I wore the lower shirt and smaller shorts. Sure enough, the only words spoken to my daughter were ‘hello’ and ‘what can I get for you’, whereas I was asked questions by every one of the men working there while my daughter watched two of the workers stare at my legs with their mouths open holding the sandwich press down. In short, the food is average at best, and if you are a frat boy looking for a place to eat with a sexist environment where you can objectify women along with the staff, then you are going to love this place. Anyone else, especially women with any self respect, I advise go elsewhere.

I had been meaning to eat here for a few months before I actually did, but once I finally got a chance to go in for a meal, Ive returned at least once a week since. This is real deli food. Messy, greasey, terrible for your health, but amazingly delicious. The menu is pretty diverse, offering both traditional deli fare with some unique local creations mixed in. The side dishes-usual deli stuff like soup and potato salad, are all really good as well. My personal favorite is the Rachel (pastrami reuban), but everything that Ive eaten there has been great so there arent any bad choices from what Ive experienced. The atmosphere is exactly what a deli should be: simple and utilitarian. This place isnt fancy, but just a nice place to stop in for lunch, which is what I look for in a deli. The service is exceptional. This is a family owned business, and everyone that works here is friendly, helpful, polite, and welcoming. Theyre very good at recognizing repeat customers and making you feel at home. All around great place, and one of my favorite places to get an excellent lunch.

I work in downtown Akron and wanted a new place to go yesterday. It was a bit of a walk from my place of work, but well worth it. Not knowing what to expect, I was a little confused when we walked up and the place was so full the line was out the door, but I now understand why! The place has a great atmosphere, awesome energy, and enthusiastic employees which counts for a lot. They have a great selection (all of their meals have witty names, which makes it all the more fun), fairly priced, and the move quickly so that long line was hardly a wait. The place is decorated with kitschy sport and cartoon memorabilia and the music being played was upbeat. My grilled cheese was great, made on fresh baked bread, well garnished and the soup was excellent, too. My coworker said his turkey/ham sandwich was great as well. Will definitely be frequenting here in the summer as the weather gets nicer!

Just plain frickin awesome! I had expectations for good, and I got great! The staff was incredibly friendly, jovial, and offered their best advice for what a first time visitor might enjoy. I ended up with the "Chad" and couldnt have been happier. I cant say its the best pastrami or corned beef Ive ever had because Im not well-versed with the cured meats in the area. What I will say is that these sandwiches are ample, filled full of meats, and are surprisingly filling. Even more, the combination of pastrami, corned beef, Swiss cheese, and spicy mustard on rye bread was spot on! The way the flavors all came together reminds me of why I prefer the simple, local deli over the blandness of Jimmy Johns or Subway.

I called ahead an order and picked it up. The guy behind the counter was better than everyone hes ever met and couldnt be bothered smiling. I saw him make my reuben. He weighed the meat then threw it in the microwave. After that disappointment, he finished and gave it to the guy at the register who was actually nice. The sandwich itself was tough like it was cooked in the microwave it probably had a good texture at some point, but now it was fit for a dog. This sandwich and a side was $11. It was almost as good as a McDonalds meal, but more expensive. I was looking for a good NY style deli, but this isnt it. It you want an overpriced microwaved dinner served with attitude, this is your place.

Came here for lunch and almost came back again for dinner. So good! Loved the family vibe, the owner was so friendly. The soda we wanted needed the syrup changed, he made sure to bring us it once it was changed out. All of the Akron memorabilia was great to see...way to support the local community. The sandwiches were just perfect. Stacked high...I dont know how they are making any money! I could only eat half. The meat was tender, the cole slaw was creamy, and the mustard had a nice spice kick to it. I had the matzo ball soup and it was so flavorful and satisfying, especially since I had a cold.

Absolutely wonderful. Visitng from NJ and saw it listed as towns favorite. Checked it out with a close friend and couldnt have been more delighted. Service was excellent, staff was friendly as can be. And most importantly the food was AMAZING. Such a great eating experience. Took a business card as a souvenir.

Had a meeting in Akron and someone suggested we try Den Stewarts. Started with some Blue Point oysters. They were fresh and served ice cold. Had the bone in rib eye. Excellent and perfectly cooked. After a couple of bottles of wine, I forgot what I had for dessert, but Im sure it was great.
