Dear Fox and Hound Raleigh, On the evening of Saturday April 10th I came to your restaurant for the first time in hopes of having dinner. It was around 9:30ish, and I was meeting a friend there to watch the UFC after finding out that it was not going to be shown at the location where we normally watch it. In fact, the hostess at that place had recommended that we try you all. I know that Saturday nights are very busy, and since I’ve never worked in the restaurant business, I’m sure that there are many factors that I am not taking into consideration here, so this is purely from a once potential patrons point of view. Upon entering, it was clear that your hostess did not want to be there. She seemed overwhelmed and perhaps she was very sick or something because she looked nauseous, but more about her later. After pointing us in the direction of the side room, we were told that we’d have to pay to be seated in that particular area. Fair enough, I’m willing to spend $5 (in addition to my tab which usually runs around $25 dollars in these situations) for an opportunity to watch the pay-per-view event (although at least two of your competitors do not charge). As we were paying, it was clear to us that there was no more seating available. The party of 5 in front of us had just paid, and were kind of left in no man’s land, wondering around trying to see if they could make their own arrangements, only to be told by those who were seated (as we would soon be told as well), that pretty much any available seat (I’m not even talking about tables here) was “taken”. Obvious as it may have seemed to us, it did not deter the guy who was charging admission, for despite his reassurances (vague as they were, so shame on us I guess) that there would be tables or seats available, it was clear that he was determined to get as many peoples $5 before 10pm without consideration for their wellbeing. In all fairness to him (and you all), we were reimbursed after quickly realizing that we’d been duped. Yes, I know that efforts were being taken to accommodate the standing room only crowd, but frankly, a row of fold out chairs in the back of an already crowded room was just not going to do it for me. I think at that point, most people would have left, but it was close to 10, and we figured that we’d try to move to the restaurant to get something to eat. We approached the hostess again who with tremendous disinterest told us that we’d have to fend for ourselves. Again, fair enough, that’s the policy, and there is nothing we can do about it at that point, so we left. Overall, the greatest effort made by your employees in my opinion was in the selling of a $5 wrist band and not in the accommodation of a potential customer, and trust me, I’m not high maintenance, and I’ll settle for pretty much anything in terms of service. My only suggestion is that in the future (for similar events), perhaps try and be more open with potential customers and if it looks like they are not going to have a seat after paying for one, maybe at least say (or train your hostess too) that you’ll try and work something out.

Hits the high points very nicely Summary: Nice atmosphere, very good selection, very good food, reasonable prices given the prime location, and good service. . The Food: Wife and I split two sandwiches, one being the Cuban, the other being the black forest turkey sandwich for which we subbed ciabatta in place of the pretzel roll, both with the parmesan crusted fries. We both gave the turkey sandwich an easy 4.5, feeling if we’d only had ‘em grill or press the bread it would have been a perfect 5.0, the Cuban gets a 3.5 to 4.0, and the fries a 4.5, ie all very, very tasty and highly recommended. The beer came in a frosty cold mug, too! . Sports Bar Atmosphere: Yes, it’s a sports bar, and comes with all the trimmings of such, especially on football day. Man, we were there during prime Sunday NFL time for lunch and that place was rockin’, very noisy throughout the restaurant. We didn’t mind one bit for, while we’re only mildly into football, we totally love hearing the loud oo’s and oh-no’s from enthusiastic fans. I’d imagine it’s more subdued during off times, but just know what you might be getting into is all. I really thought it was cool how they asked if there was a particular game we wanted to see, for with all the tv’s and various games going on throughout, it wouldn’t be hard to find the one we were wanting. . Wasn’t perfect but they made it right: It wasn’t a perfect visit, but they made or were willing to make the blemishes right so all ended well. Got miffed when after upwards of 10 minutes just sitting there no server had even said “boo” to us, so got the hostess to give us a different section. Manager hooked me up with a beer for the trouble. Was over it by then anyway so that was fine. Cuban came with pickles on it instead of on the side, and server offered to replace the sandwich though we didn’t want to wait so passed on the offer and I just toughed it out. But we did send the stone-cold fries back for fresh ones. So, could it have been better? Yup. But, I try really hard to give good reviews and will definitely be back given how good the food was, only I’ll be looking for some of these things when I do, hopefully will learn that it was all just coincidence.

Alright so, i went in and the first thing I saw was this poor young lady going back and forth just busy. She was obviously a hostess but seeing as she was busy I did not want to bother her. I turned to the red haired hostess and she was deep in conversation with 2 other girls who worked there. I raised a hand to get her attention and she simply put a hand to me and directed me back to the poor busy short haired young lady. She greeted me kindly and dropped what she was doing which was great. She took me and my husband to a table, gave us menus and had a small conversation with us and made us laugh. I watched her go back to the front and continue her job while the other 3 young ladies chit chatted with each other. it was very unfair. Our waitress was kind but seemed distracted and did not treat our table with very much care. The food took about 30 minutes to come and the atmosphere was very loud and obnoxious. We had a woman stop at our table to ask if everything was well and we told her for the most part. I assume she was the manager however not even 10 minutes later that same woman was chit chatting with the 3 young ladies up front. It seems as if this place does not care what customers think of their employees and it seems very unmanaged. I will not be going back. If you like sports and drinks then yes go there by all means however if youre looking for a delicious not costly burger FAST and with kind care go to 5 guys across the way.
