Good fried chicken. The process is either call ahead or show up, walk to the counter, place your order and then be seated, or stand around and wait if it is to go (or in my case, for the call ahead too). The fried chicken was good. We opted for chicken tender box/dinner and some chicken wings. The buffalo sauce was good. But, they must not make wings often we were told to pick up the order in 10 to 15 minutes, and were still waiting specifically for the wings to cook long after we had arrived. Bit they were cooked well - were glad they werent undercooked. The bbq sauce for the tenders tasted like someone added too much liquid smoke to it. The fries werent bad either. The "cole slaw" was pre-prepared or purchased more than likely out of a large plastic container and served with an ice cream scoop. Alas, we knew we were here for the chicken as it is in the name of the place. The décor.. It is very purple. The staff was really nice. Im not sure I was the staffs "baby" though, and I felt bad listening to one of their staff stating she had so many more hours to go before she was done with work. Im also not sure that an off joke about everyone giving her their credit cards so that she can go out to the club later was in good taste either. But, you could tell they were in good spirit. The crowd here seemed older, but we could tell they frequent often as the staff knew a couple of guests by name. Thats always good sign seeing repeat guests. Overall, it was ok. If you are local to the area and do not want to drive to Stanley for Bojangles or KFC in Belmont for fried chicken, then stop in.

I thought for a place called Chicken King the chicken would be top notch but that wasnt the case. I had a so so grilled chicken sandwich that was pretty dry. My children had chicken strips and fish and they devoured both. My daughter said the fish was "delicious". The best part of the experience was by far the staff. They were so friendly and welcoming. They knew everyone who came through the door and if they didnt know you they sure acted like they do. Everyone was sweetie and darlin. Based on the meal I had alone, I would write this place off as a one and done visit but because of the great staff, I may just give it another try.

I have been meaning to write a review. Came to this location about 45 minutes before closing, so I understand employees were ready to go. One man seemed very impatient as he kept looking at the clock. I placed an order of fried chicken salad, as a huge special request of no bacon. I got home and nearly puked when I seen the bacon. Called the next day and complained and the girl pretended to care with an attitude and told me to bring my salad back. I think thats so unsanitary and everything else under the sun, especially after telling her that I lived 45 minutes out. NEVER AGAIN, you can tell who this is ran by.

This place is NO longer one of the best kept secrets of our quaint little town. Apparently, word has spread about how AWESOME this place is... the food is great, the staff is great, and the selection of food is like going to Grandmas house for Sunday dinner! Like, home-made fried okra! Or, home-made, *BAKED* mac-n-cheese! They even have REAL Perch on the menu! NOTE: Be prepared to wait... Not only is this place hoppin busy, but they also do not drop your order in the deep friers until you place your order. So, you might want to grab yourself a menu and call ahead!

Anna and her crew are the BEST! The food and atmosphere are addictive! I have to go there at least 3 times a week to get my "wings"fix!!! The food is always on point no matter what I order( and yes I do order things other than wings) . Their fish and vegtables are always fresh and never over done or over seasoned. Mount Hollys lil hole in the wall is the bomb digitty!!! Chicken King you ROCK!!!!

Ive eaten there many times. Consistently great food and great service. No matter how busy it gets. From their specials (chicken tips/chicken and dumplings/ pork chops/etc. and varies) and assorted vegetables which are pretty close to tasting home made to the fried fish which is as good as some fish camps. Its about all good...

Good solid chicken place! The ladies that work here are super nice. They have waaaaaay more than just chicken. They have lots of great sides too. I had chicken fingers with mashed potatoes and gravy with broccoli cheese casserole. Home made honey mustard sauce is awesome. Good sweet tea. Im coming back for sure.

Best comfort food near my moms house. Salt N pepper Catfish yum, pork chops yum. Im pretty sure all the menu items are just as tasty. The staff is personable and is able to name its regulars. Call ahead to place a pick up order because around dinnertime is a full house.

I love coming to this restaurant the staff are so friendly and its a family environment. The restaurant is very very clean which is a big plus. The food is always fresh and never greasy. They have really good specials as well.
