As reliant as I am on on card payment instead of cash, Yum Yum is one of only two places that I would give a perfect score. I think that says a lot in itself. Today was a particularly great experience, but Ill just give the TL;DR first. Delicious, inexpensive hot dogs and ice cream, efficient and friendly service, all conveniently located near the heart of UNCG campus. Ive experienced that CONSISTENTLY, even today on their second day of reopening when there was hardly any standing room. I was still able to place my order within 10 seconds of walking in. The lady was fast, respectful, and very positive, even in the stress of what seemed like 2 - 3 orders per minute. She even remembered how to pronounce my name when my food was ready, which also only took about 5 minutes. Again, I dont usually give a thorough review like this but if I give give 5 stars, I feel like it needs qualification. Theyve definitely earned it.

My fiancee , mom, and I were in Greensboro and craving a hot dog so he typed in best hot dog in Greensboro and this place came up. We were not disappointed!!! It has a laid back diner vibe its an older place but full of charm. Its simple but good they have hot dogs the chili was really good, chips, cans, plastic bottles, and glass bottled drinks definitely get the glass bottle coke or cheerwine. Its inexpensive and the homemade ice cream is amazing I had the pistachio and it is probably the best ice cream I ever had. The mint choclate chip and peach are great too. Well definitely be back and spread the word!!

The hot dogs are red. (This freaks out some people on their first visit.) The ice cream is the best in town. This place is a throw back to a different time as far as decore. You can still get sodas in a bottle. It is a favorite haunt for two high schools and for university students. Locals bring in sports teams to celebrate victories. The menu is not large, but if you want a great hot dog, or a refreshing cone, or are a poor student needing to fill your tummy on a limited budget-this is the place. Dont worry if the line is long, the service is quick.

I worked at yum yum back in the 1950,s when it was called west end ice cream co. because "Yum Yum better ice cream" was on the front of the building and UNCG girls called it yum yum they changed the name. I grew up one block from yum yum. I knew all the family, and this is probably the oldest food establishment in Greensboro, since it has been in operations for over 100 years. A great story of a sucesful business. Good food, and good service.

I have been eating at Yum Yums all of my life. The service there has always been great and it really is a cool spot to check out. Since Ive grown up (and my metabolism slowed down) my order has reduced. My current order is 1 hot dog with cheese, 1 hot dog with chili and onions, a bag of salt and vinegar chips, and a cheerwine/rc cola (depending on the day). Following completion of my dogs, I go up for chocolate ice cream. It is awesome.

I have been going to Yum Yums since high school and many of my friends have been going there since they were very young children. They are famous for their pink hotdogs all the way with relish slaw chili and mustard. I always get the exact same thing: two dogs all the way and a chocolate shake. Theyre also famous for their ice cream. All of the ice cream is made on premises. Dont come to Greensboro and miss out on Yum Yums

This ice cream parlor has a very long history and I hope they never go away. Theyve been serving the heart of UNCG for as long as I can remember. I use to go here as a kid and now I bring my kids here (and Im 50 btw). Nothing like sitting on the brick wall just outside with your kids, eating a great ice cream cone, and enjoying all the beautiful scenery that UNCG has to offer! ; )

I had two of the hot dogs "all the way" and ice cream. I thought the dogs were disgusting. Unnaturally pink (dyed with what??), spongy and flavorless. All you could taste were the toppings. Worst hot dogs Ive ever eaten. The ice cream was nothing special, just average, not extra creamy or anything because it was home-made. The place is crowded and hot.

This place is a Greensboro and UNCG staple with amazingly cheap and delicious hot dogs and homemade ice cream. The ice cream flavors are always new and exciting and the hot dogs go down easier with an ice cold Cheerwine in a glass bottle. It has a 50s diner feel because the building is that old. Service is fast and friendly. This is a must stop!

For the reviewer who rated Archdale Soda Shop 5-Stars and Yum-Yum 3-Star, thats a joke! Inexpensive hot dogs and homemade ice cream are Yum-Yums game and anyone who doesnt like their hot dogs would probably also prefer their hot dog with ketchup. Get your dogs ATW and if you dont like that theyre red, go get a life.

Finding this gem of an ice cream shop was a happy accident for me. My small cup of vanilla had a generous serving, was well priced at $2.75, rich in flavor, and delicious! Service was quick and friendly despite the lunch rush. The one drawback: this is a cash-only business. I removed one star for that reason alone.

Yum Yum has been here for-ever. I went to UNC-G and had many a meal here while in college. Their hotdogs are classic and unchanged since back in the day, and the ice cream? Oh, lordy, the ice cream is incredible and made the same way it always was. A treat that can be enjoyed on the cheap.

I have ordered the same thing my whole life: 2 cheese dogs, salt and vinegar chips and a cheerwine. Pro Tip - Use the chips to scrape the extra cheese off the paper and prepare for the overwhelming regret you will feel for the years you have wasted not eating at Yum Yum.

Have been hearing about Yum Yum for several years. Finally went today and was not impressed. Ice Cream had no fruit in it and tasted old. Hot dogs were the old red kind with no flavor. Dont see what everyone sees in this place. Prices were cheap though. Would not recommend.

Delicious, creamy, buttery ice cream served along side hot-pink/red hot dogs. Staff is friendly, and stepping inside is like going back in time to when we didnt know how bad ice cream and hotdogs are for us. Love to drop by this place whenever Im on UNCGs campus.

I LOVE this place!!! My mom used to go here when she was at UNCG, so she brings us here now. The ice cream is the absolute best!! Definitely my favorite ice cream hands down. I also love the hotdogs and the fact that you can get a Cheerwine in a glass bottle <3

I have been going here since I was a little girl and it has always been my favorite hot dog place. I went to UNCG and went there a lot and got to know the workers; they are the best! This is a definite gem of an establishment in the city of Greensboro
