I am a HUGE coffee connoisseur, and recently while spending a few days in Boone, my wife and I searched for a coffee shop. First of all, the staff are extremely helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. My wife is a fan of iced coffees and Im a daily brew kind of guy. Somehow they brewed the daily flavors just perfect to maximize the taste - not too strong, not too weak. We brought home some flavors also - Highlander Grogg and Snickerdoole - which I had not had in years...brought back some memories. They have quite a few decaf selections as well. And their in-store grinders are perfect for those who dont grind fresh at home. The thing that surprised us is that their indoor area is spacious enough that it doesnt feel crowded. Even when it started filling up right before we finished and left, we could still hear each other talking without having to yell. We have decided that every time we are in Boone, we will stop here. We could not believe there werent more coffee shops like this since Boone is a college town. But this tops the Starbucks inside Harris Teeter, and the Panera at the mall. Do yourself a favor and visit Higher Grounds Coffee Shop!

I love them! Theyre the best coffee shop in Boone, it has the reward on the wall that says so! The older lady is so nice and always complements me in the nicest way! But! The younger lady with the short short hair doesnt care about your requests of an Order and is kinda rude at times, she doesnt make your drinks in the order that theyre supposed to be made in. So make sure you taste your drink before leaving if you get your drink from her.

My husband and I were visiting Boone last year from Charlotte, NC and was looking for a place for a quick breakfast. We found Higher Ground on Google and saw the raving reviews and decided we had to check it out. Well...it was quite possibly the best coffee we have ever had. Its been over a year now and I still think about it all the time and wish that I could have another cup more accessibly.

Been hiking all week and needed to charge my cell phone, computer, table etc. Stopped in here a little grungy looking and was met with a warm smile, awesome service and an extra cord for charging. Talk about the extra mile. The salted carmel mocha was excellent and service was amazing.

The lady who was working when we came was very friendly and helpful. When we go to Boone, we always make a stop here. I recommend the Heath Mocha Frappe if you are looking for something refreshing and sweet, with a hint of caramel and coffee.

Better than Starbucks and cheaper. The location is convenient and cozy in the corner of the plaza. A great place to stop for a coffee before work or just to hangout and procrastinate on homework. Will definitely be coming back.
