I WAS excited to try Woodlands, as I am a new resident of Boone. My husband and I got sat in a little corner table next to the kitchen which was very cramped which would have been okay if it wasnt 54 degrees outside and the window hadnt been open right next to the table with no way to close it. We were freezing the whole time. The server took our drink order about and then about 5 minutes later she came back to fill my husbands tea but failed to refill mine which was less than half way full. We put in an order for an appetizer and entree to share. We waited for about 30 minutes and finally our entree came, no appetizer. The appetizer was taken off the bill but it was still disappointing. After all of these things, I was annoyed but still wanted a Woodlands tshirt because I love the Woodlands logo. Since we didnt have to pay $10 for the appetizer, I thought I would spend it on a shirt. I went up to the host stand and was ignored by THREE employees who were standing there avoiding eye contact with me. I finally just left without my tshirt /:

This is one of those places that needs to be visited if you are visiting or passing through Boone. The friendliness of the staff will varies, as all restaurants will, but weve never had any issues. Best suggestion for the food is to order their Pig Out and share with the table. The offer two sauce options, mild or hot, making it very homey in feel. The Pig Out menu option includes a variety of meats (such as beef and pork bbq, ribs, chicken, etc.) and sides (such as corn bread, fries, corn, etc.), giving you the opportunity to test a variety of their menu. The building itself looks extremely small, but looks can be deceiving as they offer two levels of seating. The top floor offers live music occasionally and has more windows (this would be your preferred seating if given the option). The second floor (i.e. bottom floor) has TVs and a variety of pig-themed art to see. Fewer windows, but it is still very well lit. Love this place; definitely worth visiting!

We visited Woodlands on a Monday evening. We were seated near the musicians which would have been okay had they not been so loud. They sang and played quite loudly and occasionally let out a howl that was startling and long. Had I been at an outdoor concert it might have been fine. But we were in a small restaurant hoping to enjoy a family diner celebrating a family birthday. It was impossible to have any dinner conversation. We requested a table in another room and the waitress was sweet about it. The food was tasty, although two in our party didnt receive their meals, and those meals had to be cooked because apparently they were just missed, so that was a long wait. The wait staff was overworked and unable to keep up with the crowd, however they really did the best they could. I doubt I will return, while the food was good, it wasnt worth the hassle we had to go through to get it.

Stopped in for lunch with 3 friends. What a mistake. Our server seemed annoyed when we didnt know what we wanted to order the minute she approached the table. The food took forever and we heard her apologizing to tables nearby several times as we waited. When the order came, all 3 of my sides were wrong. My friends orders were correct and they were almost 1/2 way through eating when mine came back---correct this time, but cold. When I went to pay, the cashier asked how it was, and when I told her, her response was to ROLL HER EYES at me and tell me she "couldnt give me a free meal." I didnt ask for a free meal (and I told her so), and I paid for the one I got, even though it was practically inedible. The managers response was to offer me a free tee shirt. Right, so I could advertise for their sorry service and worse food??? I will never go back there!!

I had lunch at Woodlands Barbeque last weekend with my wife and her family, or more accurately, tried to have lunch there. When we arrived we were told there would be a 45-minute wait for a table. We waited outside, and after 45 minutes or so a table became available and we were shown inside. We sat down, got our drinks, placed our order, and...nothing. We waited and waited, with no sign of our food. Finally, after over an hour, we flagged down our waitress and asked her why our order was taking so long. Her response? "Were really busy, and everythings taking 45 minutes. According to the computer, youve only been waiting 43 minutes." We got up and walked out shortly after that, having waited a total of almost 2 hours for a lunch that never came. Needless to say, we wont be stopping by Woodlands Barbeque the next time were in the area.

Good pulled pork barbecue and hush puppies. Might be cheapest place to eat in Blowing Rock. Live, country, guitar-playing singer at supper who can be talented, depending on which night you go. Very casual; seating inside is unpadded wooden picnic tables and benches without back rests, decor is pig humor. Fast service. Iced tea is served in Mason jars. Bar. Additional dining room is down long flight of stairs. Useful when crowded or if music is louder than you like... or if you dislike being solicited individually with a tip jar. Thats the only thing I dont care for at Woodlands; tipping is supposed to be discretionary, not coerced. The top jar should be left on the piano. Much newly paved parking directly behind the building in 2017 is a big improvement. Fairly steep hill back to the front door. Let out the disabled up front, then park.

We were really looking forward to eating here after reading reviews but it didnt live up to the hype in some areas. I will say that the pulled pork was amazing. But the super nachos my husband got were made with really cheap ingredients including the liquid canned cheese product instead of real shredded cheese on nachos. My five year old got a burger that was very obviously one of those frozen pre-made ones. My side salad looked like a bag was opened and lettuce was posted onto my plate. It was so dry and over cooked and charred so badly that none of us could eat it. The chips and BBQ sauces come from big store bought gallons, we saw them refilling the bottles. I guess for the hype, we expected fresher ingredients and more homemade items. The staff was really friendly though and the restaurant seemed pretty clean.

Let me start by saying I think a lot of people who rave about a places bbq are actually raving about the romanticized image of an elderly black man playing blues hymnals in between bastings, and would rave about how good the bbq is if I dumped it out of a plastic deli tub from the frozen food section of Winn-Dixie. When I eat bbq, I stick my little pinky out like Im having Tea. I know good bbq. This is good bbq. Plus, music upstairs, TVs downstairs, selection of sauces on the side, and i noticed that in between customers they clean the tables with Clorox wipes instead of last weeks bar rag. I really, really liked everything about this place. Arrive early because they were packed!
