Last night Rooster decided to have some folks over for a pow-wow and figured having a couple pizzas hanging around might fare well. He conferred with me about where they were to come from. I said "How the hell should I know? I just moved here." He perceived the wisdom in this and dialed up Standard, opting for a straightforward pepperoni and also, a white pie. A few minutes later we hopped into the Roostermobile and shimmied on down that way. It looked like a pretty chilled joint. I gave the menu board a once over and decided that everything was actually priced quite fair. Fair is good. It keeps you from resenting things and the people who price them. By the time this epiphany had run its course, Rooster was handing over some greenbacks and we were on our way back to the barn. I believe that there are 3 types of pizza; first you have the "Cheap Slop". Designed for coating the lining of your stomach to slow the penetration of alcohol, these pies are less about taste and more about filling a niche. They have their time and place, especially when your wallet is on welfare. Secondly, we have the "Step Up". These pies are made with more care than its predecessor, and with better quality ingredients. The crust usually gives you pause for though and the interesting topping combinations lead to arguments and finally, compromise. Then of course you have the gourmet joints where youre looked at like a cretin if you arent using a fork and knife and dont appreciate the sophistication of the Cabrales, Serrano ham and grapes offering. Standard falls distinctly into the middle category. Quality stuff that wont break the bank (everything here is under twenty bucks) The Pies were well balanced and all the ingredients used made their presence known. It seemed to be old hat for the Asheville veterans that graced our presence that evening, but being the new kid on the block I had to take a step back and make note. No doubt Ill be pulling those notes out the next time were in the mood for a pie. Grade: B- (an oil base on the white pie would really compliment what are mostly dry toppings, texture wise)

I chose this pizza joint because of its proximity to the hotel I was staying at. I had tons of work to do for a conference and I just needed a quick bite. I love pizza, so it naturally all I wanted. Standard Pizza Co. did not disappoint. The veggies on the pizza were delicious. The feta actually tasted like feta and not styrofoam. And the salad was pretty generous. Basic. But generous. And the slices were gigantic. So big plus there! The venue seemed pretty cool and was pretty quiet too.

I called ahead and ordered the garden pizza. They told me itd be ready in 20 minutes; I arrived on time. I stood and waited in the restaurant for exactly an hour and watched people come and go with their orders before I received mine. The cashier was rude and unapologetic every time I asked about my order. Very frustrating experience. Wont be coming back.

Late night Date. Pull up, and it being in a retro gas station was cool. Went in and was pleasantly surprised to get greeted by the aroam. We order a 16" margarita and thirteen. Was the best pizza. Fresh and really hot. Cheerwine on tap. Awesomeness. Followed by best wait staff, with many smiles. Thank you all for a wonderful finish.

I normally love standard pizza I normally go after class or around lunch time and I look forward to it but I just went to pick up a few slices and the cheese is hard and so is the crust, definitely not good pizza :( I didnt think you could mess up cheese pizza but they managed it, it might be time to find a new pizza place

We went here for dinner while in Asheville. The pizza was good, but not awesome, and the atmosphere was unique, but they could do so much more with it. It is an old service station(or made to look like that) and there was very little auto memorbilia or anything like that.

Really good New York style pizza, both in terms of crust and topping options/combos (yay ricotta and feta!). Easy in and out or a comfy spot to dine in with decent beer selection. Id say more than your standard pizza fare, especially for small city South.

Quick and consistent pizza by the slice. Love the specialty pizzas or create your own slice. Calzones are great, beer selection is usually solid. Fun place to grab a slice and a beer, sit on the back patio and enjoy a summer night.

Our second visit in two days. First day was a margarita and today the Cuban. Both excellent. I grew up in the NYC area and they know how to do pizza there, the crust compares well with that pizza. If I lived here Id be a regular.

The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is great! Their pizza is some of the best Ive had in Asheville. I personally like the Cuban (the toppings include banana which, I know, sounds weird but once you try it, youll understand.)

Nice attempt at a New York style pizzeria. Flavor is almost there and you can order by the slice. Of course I recommend getting a pizza made to order because you dont know how long the slices have been hanging out .

Always fresh and tasty. Its a simple place. A converted gas station with ample inside seating under AC and an outside patio are. What I like is the staff takes the time to get to know their customers!

Love. Not the best pizza ever but consistent and great price/value. Friendly staff. Quick. Consistent. As the name implies, good standard pizza, no more no less. An anchor in the neighborhood.

Great. Good prices, chill atmosphere, beer, decent music. Overheard staff discussing Reddit, so it won arbitrary points with me for that. Will definitely come again. The pizza is good too.

The pizza was pretty good. We have never been here before and ordered entirely to much food. The young lady at the register was miserable. I would give her attitude a 0. Pizza was a 4

We were visiting Ashville and decided on Standard Pizza. Its nothing special to look at but served some great pizza that we all enjoyed. They had a 98.5 health rating as well.

Standard Pizza is good. Need a late night slice on Haywood Rd? They got you covered. Good specialty pies. Try the 13 or Greek. Spinach salad is solid and filled with spinach.

Always fantastic, always affordable. Sometimes it can take a while if theyre busy, but you cant rush pizza like this. The slices are huge, and the toppings are great.

Standard is a great neighborhood spot! Super good addition to the West A scene with great local beers and a really consistent pie made with top notch ingredients.

These bearded disgruntled hipsters will make you a hell of a pie just dont make the mistake of being nice to them - pick up your pizza and get the hell out of there

Good pizza. Great atmosphere. Phenomenal calzones! Theyre open late night on weekends too- which compliments the West Asheville bar scene pretty darn well.
