I have been going to Romas for nearly 30 years. My grandparents live in Tuckahoe, just a short walk from this diamond in the rough. Every time we visit NY we go to Romas for at least once. The pizza is incredible; thin crust, great sauce and cooked just right. We usually order two of them as an appetizer. I am not a huge fan of Italian food, but they have the best veal parm Ive ever had, and thats all i ever order. I know, however, that they have a wide variety of pastas, salads and true Italian cuisine. However, the service has a bigger range than Robert Plants vocals. Many of the wait staff are curt and short with you, they do not automatically refill your drinks or even ask; its an exercise in waving an empty glass in the air. If you run out of bread, you better ask and dont expect a "sure" with a smile. However, every once in a while you will get a gem -- a true New Yorker who loves to talk. The atmosphere is out of the 50s -- its dark and has a certain low-rent mafia appearance. The tables are old laminated press board with plastic upholstered chairs. During dinner time, it gets crowded, and things can slow down considerably. All this aside, however, if youre not in a rush, if you understand that a waitress makes less than minimum wage and works a lot of hours, and you dont mind one or two bumps from someone scooting by your chair, this place is fantastic. Get a pizza as an appetizer, and get an entree and a couple of drinks -- and the sauce is not out of a can, they make it there, and its delightful!

Some of the worst service and food weve ever experienced. After waiting for a long time to be served, we tried to appeal to the hostess, who actually said to us, and heres the piece de résistence: "You must be from Peoria, if you dont know what Roma is like on Saturdays!" In other words: "How dare you come to Romas to have dinner on a Saturday!" When we were finally served, the server literally threw the plates on the table. No one ever came back to find out if everything was OK, something that is customary in every restaurant. Trying to get the attention of the bus boy was literally impossible. He would actually look at us and walk away. The water tasted like old coffee grounds, and the overcooked fish was served on a bed of over-boiled spinach, floating on stale butter. Even the bread (brought to the table without bread plates) was not good. Dont you hate having to leave a tip for bad service and lousy food? We did leave a tip, though. As far as were concerned its "Arrivederci Roma!" for us. First and last time.

Wow, the Roma restaurant is still very good. My family (former Mount Vernonites) ate frequently at this restaurant in the 1950s when it looked like an old dark bar with the back room pizzeria attached. In those days the antipasto was better than what they offer now. The pizza is not like so many other places where its just dripping oil and cheese right off the slice. Interesting to read that it is still run by third generation of the original ownership. Bon Apetit !!

The owners wife is a very nasty person. While she was saying the specials she told my kids to be quiet! I asked her if we were in class and if she was the teacher!!!! She said never mind and walked away!!! Just for that reason I will never go back there!!! Food is just alright. Much better restaurants with better service and better food!!!! Although our waitress Jeanette was great!!!

This is by far the best pizza anywhere in the NYC area. The crust is thin and crunchy, not too much cheese or sauce, and seasoned just perfectly. The pizzas are best if eaten there on those hot metal platters! Be careful of Fridays as they are often the busiest day there and getting a table or pie can take some time. Closed Mondays.

One of the best thin crust pizzas in Westchester. Its always good. I personally never had an entrée because every time I go I want the yummy pizza! However friends and family members say that everything else is equally as good. Id definately reccomend Romas if your in the Tuckahoe area.

This place is first class junk. This place is considered "fast food Italian" They serve cold pizza which has outdated toppings on it.I hated hated hated hated hated IT. This place is tasteless. Spend your money on somewhere else.
