Please read this carefully. I am very serious. I went there around 12 am with my family for a late night dinner. We unfortunately got this horrible, mean looking waitress who did not greet us, rushed us into ordering, and when we said that we needed more time, she gave us a dirty look and walked away. She NEVER (I repeat, NEVER) came to check on us! She then started gossiping about us to another waitress with red lipstick. The food is all leftovers from the morning and the appetizers (especially the fried fish ones) were hard, inedible, and looked as if someone just tossed them onto the dishes because they were splattered all over the place. However, I still did not complain. We left a tip smaller than 15% on purpose for the lack of service that we received and that waitress with the red lipstick suddenly rushed to our table, saying "I need to see the tip" and she had the gall to tell us that we need to leave at least a 15%! FOR WHAT?! Thats what threw me over the edge. I didnt complain for the lack of service and unpalatable food but she has the nerve to tell me that I didnt pay at least a 15% tip? What kind of place is this? TRUST ME when I say that you should spend your money elsewhere. Even food trucks have better food and service than this effed up restaurant. When I confronted the main waitress who took my order before I left, she yelled at me, threw down her chopsticks and said that she would have a go with me because to her, she did nothing wrong. I put that psycho b**ch in place. Its a servers job to show at least an ounce of respect and care to customers in order to earn a good tip. Should I be the one sucking up to her? A lot of Korean servers are very rude. American and Japanese servers never treat their customers like this. I was so upset that I got an indigestion and ended up vomiting when I got home. DO NOT GO HERE! You will regret it if you do!!! Trust me! P.S. If anyone in that restaurant tells you that you didnt leave a big enough tip, immediately confront that person and fight her because she does this to almost everyone. This is WRONG! Apparently, she thinks its her job to make sure that everyone leaves at least a 15% tip, regardless of how horrible the food and service are. Because you guys are complacent and overlook her request for more money, she thinks that it is alright for her to do so. She needs to be taught a lesson. A good lesson. Smack her if you have to. No employee there will call the cops. They are worse than dogs, those ignorant b**ches.

This was the first time I went to Kun Jip Restaurant and it will be my last. First of all, we went and there were no one in front of us. We waited for 5 minutes and a waitress came and took us to the other end of the restaurant. I thought we were going to be seated but to my surprise we were told to wait there. I thought OK, no big deal. Later the same waitress came back with two Korean guests (they spoke Korean). She told us the two came before us and we should let them go ahead of us. We were really surprised at this time but were polite and let them go ahead anyway. Then a bigger surprise was when the same waitress asked us to order our food while we were still waiting and not even seated. I was almost going to go out except that I didnt want to embarrass my friend. We ordered out meal standing and then while we were still eating the waitress suggested if we were done with our meal so they can clean the table. This was done in such a rude manner. I am not so sure if this is the Korean way of treating customers. My friend was still drinking when the waiter almost seemed to snatch the drink. By that time I almost had it. I asked for the bill. The bill came and I signed the credit card slip and even left a tip. While we were getting ready to go, a very rude manager of some sort came back with the slip and told me that I signed the customer copy. Without any sense of being polite, he asked me in a rude way to give him the merchant copy. That time I was really furious. I looked for the merchant copy in my wallet and then signed it without leaving any tip. He shouted at me and said "NO TIP" I said what tip? I told him tipping is not mandatory if I am not satisfied. He kept shouting with a loud voice “NO TIP” and almost threatened us. Another waiter by his side was swearing. By that time, we were afraid and I scratched a tip on his merchant copy and left. I felt very embarrassed. This is the worst experience I ever had in a New York restaurant. Never will I ever step foot in this restaurant again. They spoiled our whole evening. The food was not the best I ever had in a Korean restaurant. There are other Korean restaurants on the same street but definitely this is the worst. One thing though, I am not so sure if I wanted to go to other Korean restaurants after this incident. It has left a very bad impression in my mind.

The place was packed as expected on a Friday night but even with reservations we still needed to wait on the line leading up the stairs to the second floor. While we stood on the stairs we were handed menus so we could be ready to order as soon as we were seated. The only time I felt the need to read a menu while I waited on line to be served was at McDs, Dunkin Donuts, Burger King, etc. The service wasnt great and that had nothing to do with my race because I am Korean. I had to ask the staff several times before I finally got my glass refilled with water and when someone did finally come they didnt check to see if anyone else needed more water at our table before walking away. We also requested hot barley tea and once again the first person never came through nor the second. It took a third request for someone to finally serve us tea. And forget about anyone coming by to offer refills. Our Bulgogi and Dak Gui were served on the grill top to our table instead of a platter. The grill top was the serving plate. Is this another method they use to turnover the diner as fast as possible by eliminating a step in the cooking process? The cold grill top was placed over the BBQ grill then fired up with the cold meat and poultry on top of it. Now I should have known better and demanded that the beef and chicken be properly placed on a plate and have the grill wait to get hot before putting both on top of it to cook. Every and I mean EVERY other Korean restaurant I have been to they let you get the grill hot before you cook your meat. Unfortunately, I wasnt paying much attention to the cooking process because I was preoccupied in a conversation with my family and friends. When you cook meat on a cold pan you dont sear in the juices and you end up getting dry food and thats just what we got. Dry bland beef and chicken! To cap the dinner the servers waste no time in cleaning the table off of the paper placemats, silverware, etc. My nephew asked the waitress if they were trying to get us out of there to which she said no but here answer was not believable. If you are planning on a nice relaxing casual dining experience this isnt the place to go. Expect the NASCAR of Korean dining. Zoom zoom. In and out in a hurry with so so food should be their motto!
