Ithaca Bakery has such potential. The menu looks great with so many options. For example, some of the desserts cant be found anywhere else in Ithaca. Unfortunately, every time I eat here the service is awful. During my last visit my wife and I both ordered the same sandwich. When we looked at them one was twice the size of the other. When I asked why this was the employee said they ran out of bread. Is this not something that they could have mentioned at the time I ordered? When I brought this to the attention of the employee he offered me some more toppings to stuff on the smaller sandwich, but never offered an apology or a discount or anything. Eventually he offered to remake the sandwich using another type of bread, but still acted like -I- was being unreasonable for demanding a sandwich that was at least as big as the original (and fairly expensive) sandwich that I ordered. This is also not the first time that theyve done something like this with no explanation prior to my order and no apologies afterwards. On another occasion I ordered one of the relatively new panini sandwiches on the menu. Again, when the sandwich was given to me it was (1) on regular sandwich bread and (2) not even grilled on a panini grill. Seriously, what is wrong with this place? Their food is amazing when they get it right, but when they get it wrong (about 2/3 of the time) they act like the customer is nuts for demanding what they paid for. I have never had service this bad anywhere else in Ithaca. Farewell, Ithaca Bakery. I give up.

Collegetown Bagels is one of those places you can take a visiting friend. An Ithaca institution that were proud of for good reason. They make fantastic bread and their bagels are so dense a whole one is practically breakfast and lunch. Their sandwiches are made of a great variety of really fresh ingredients. When I went there I had a pesto chicken salad wrap. It had peppers, tomato, and asparagus in it. I was impressed. The dark roast coffee I bought was really flavorful, and the little dish of shepherds pie I got had really substantial chunks of beef in it. If you swing vegetarian, theres tons of options here for you. But heres my problem. That meal I just mentioned cost me $11.23. It was a good meal, dont get me wrong, but shepherds pie was as I said a small dish, the wrap was smaller than my hand, and it didnt even come with a pickle or a bag of chips. If this doesnt bother you, and maybe it wont because you make more money than I do, I highly recommend Collegetown Bagels. Apart from that its a nice place. It can get real crowded during the work week, but I never have to wait very long for my food and Ive always been able to find a place to sit. The staff is really nice. But man, its just such a stiff bill that I cant recommend it too highly.

On multiple occasion they have messed up my order. Today I went and asked for achicken salad on wheat bread with mayo, spinach and tomato. When I got home, not to my surprise, my order was not correct. They gave me chicken breast no mayo on wheat with tomato and spinach. Other times they have forgotten toppings on my salad that I have to pay extra for. They constantly have burnt my cheese anytime I order a breakfast bagel, which you also have to pay extra for. So my advice to you is check your order before you leave or go to the one downtown. This is the worst location out of all of them.

I love a deli with a rotating chalkboard of customer-suggested sandwiches of the day, and this place has it. If you get Tom at the register, hell definitely know what it means to want only one double-shot of expresso in your iced mocha latte, if the sprouts are in season, and which treats have just come out of the oven. And did you know they have A+ catering? They do. The seating is sparse but Ive heard theyre expanding. Oh, and standing ovation for clean restrooms. Thank you.

I love Ithaca Bakery and will be back on a regular basis, but fair warning: This location isnt quite as together as the businesss downtown location. One room has been infested with flies all summer. On two occasions in as many weeks, the kitchen inexplicably piled ham and bacon on my vegetarian sandwich. Orders that are prepared correctly are really, really inconsistent. That being said, Ill be back! Theres free wifi, good coffee, and friendly service.

For a ten minute wait Id say it was a decent sandwich. For an hour long wait Id say it was an awful sandwich. I have high expectations for a cold sandwich that takes 1 hour with no warning from the staff. We followed up multiple times..."five more minutes". 1 hour later... mediocre sandwich. Couldnt even get a manager to talk to us. Your time is better spent elsewhere.

The sandwich menu was slashed not long ago and my South Hill side was axed. Luckily theyll still make the sandwich if I tell them all the ingredients. The new salad bar is fantastic- have much more control over what my salad looks like and costs. The soups are the highlight for me! Broccoli cheddar, cream of tomato, white bean chicken chili are my favorites.

Love the sandwiches and pastries here! Get the rosemary salt bagel (toasted) with parsley garlic cream cheese. You might be licking the wax paper to get all the garlicy-cheesy goodness. Also, keep an eye out for their monthly specials. Theyve hit the proverbial ball out of the park some months!

Not bad. Recent expansion of the space, elimination of some of the confusing series of order counters, and simplification of the menu have streamlined service here. The offerings are mostly fresh and tasty. Watch out for buying things from the cold case as they are often nearly expired.

We enjoy a morning bagel and coffee here when out by the mall. They have good lunch choices also. Seating inside and in a large hall dome area. Price is good and always a seat for four or more. Crowd is friendly as is staff.

Adventurous sandwiches are perfect for the kind of person who wants to try something new. The quality of food is great! However, sometimes waits can be pretty long during busy lunch times. Definitely would recommend

Delicious fresh food, artisan breads and bakery items, many different bagel flavors. Prices can be semi high. Coffees are so so. Staff could be more friendly. A bit chaotic during rush periods.

Yuppie food for sure. Prices to match. My sandwich was ok. Too much bread not enough filling. The coffee was week. Its not bad but I wouldnt make a special trip for it.

Great place to eat if you enjoy never getting what you ordered. Second time in a row. Who knew a BLT was so hard? Used to love this place. Wont be back.

Excellent Scones and assorted baked goods. Coffee options are good if standard. A plethora of sandwich options for lunch, though on the pricier side.

Lots of seating, not too loud--good place to work. Food is ok, but drinks and desserts are very nice. Good location, lots of parking, easy to find.

Ordered a turkey sandwich and a drink for lunch from an incredibly kind staff. The atmosphere here is fun and casual and the food is superb. 5/5
