This is an update. I will leave my initial review below this update. I have sense come back to this restaurant many times with a group of friends and although food has been good, we have noticed a disturbing pattern. Our bill has always been way more than it should have been. The first few times we didnt dispute and cause a downer for the party, but we will never come back after itemizing the bill the last couple times. Today we made a complaint and they agreed that we had been over-charged and they corrected it without much of a dispute. Note, this has been consistent and appears to be a policy of the restaurant and not caused by a particular server. -- we wont be ripped off again. -------------------- my first review ------------- This is not your usual diner. Unique in many ways. It is casual. They have a friendly laid back staff. The food is as good or better than Ive ever had in a diner. The menu is a whimsical collage that is a little hard to read at first, but fun. They have a very good selection of food items, from typical NY diner, to items you dont usually see in NY, like Tex-Mex, BBQ and even chicken fried steak(how often do you see this in NY?). They have a fun selection of very good quality flame broiled burgers and they have always cooked mine perfectly. The prices are very good. If you find yourself in Queens and want good inexpensive food and an unusual experience, check it out.

I had to give this diner 1 star only because this is the only way I was able to write a post. The staff during the time period around 1pm to 4:30pm on a Sunday is very racist. During other days of the week like Monday to Friday during evening to Am hours of the morning it is fine. I am an African American man who is very established came in with his family during the time of 3pm to 4pm and my family and I were not treated with respect and the service was horrible. Irespective of the respect from the night staff myself friends or family will not eat in this particular Diner again. It is 2017 and Racism is still Alive From the time myself and my family walked in you could feel the tention but we tryd to stay and eat their because we came in with our kids. You try to give people the benefit of doubt but this place failed.

a glass of OJ and breakfast sampler =$14 and change 3 sunny side up, 2 sausage links, 2 bacons, 1 ham slice (should have been 2 slices) hash, 2 pancakes. tho they were missing a piece of item on my plate, it was still enough to make me happy. i didnt bother complaining about the missing 2nd slice of ham because the plate was alot. yet i should get what i paid for. the staff are hard working. menu is a mess- they need to make a better menu and less sticky, the menu was also dirty and sticky, i had to use the bathroom sink to wash my hands because of it. the fork sand knife doesnt look too clean but i was hungry so what the heck, i ate with it.

Greasy, cheap and always open! Friends have described it as a family owned iHOP which is a pretty apt description. Dont come if youre expecting a gourmet experience, but Kanes will always do the trick if youre in need of a big platter of greasy deliciousness. Dont bother counting the calories, it always ranges from OMG to Heart-attack! Being open 24 hours, this is one of my faves for go-to hangover food! PS. Place is often understaffed for the # of people coming here. Service is not the greatest (ie: waiting 30+ minutes for a water/soda refill) but the portions & food makes up for it.

Kanes is near and dear to me. It was my go-to diner for a while when I was living in flushing. I got to know some of the servers and they are all friendly people. The prices are a bit high, but they are a mom and pop shop, so i dont mind. theres always parking in their two parking lots and its right off of college point. i usually get their cobb salad or any of the breakfast dishes. They are also open 24 hours and dont mind if you wanna sit and read/write with a cup of coffee. Mama and Papa Kane as I like to call them are wonderful folks and I hope they never close.

Its wasnt busy there yet we had to wait for waiter for long to take the order then had to wait for our food longer but were missing few items which we order & I reminded them about it more than twice..after we were then they decided to bring the missing items which made no sense because by that time we were ready to leave...They are pricey now compared to before but the food quality & portion doesnt qualify for that much price. There are other diners which is cheaper & their food quality & portion is way better than Kanes Diner.

I remember when Kanes used to be good back in the late 90s. This was my go spot after a long day of skating at flushing meadows park. Everything back then tasted fresh. Now its garbage. The cooks clearly down know what a chicken parmesan sandwich is. I mean, who the hell puts bacon, BBQ sauce and American cheese on a chicken parmasan sandwich? These guys do. Service is bad too. They like to reuse the same oil. The chicken tasted like fish. And the food is extremely oily. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

These guys , waiters and cooks are unsanitary. Saw waiter and cook wipe their nose with their hands then serve people, he also put his hand over the entire toasted bread to cut it. They handle everything with their hands from money to the food, with out washing one time! Also the French toast tasted like chicken for heater because they didnt wash the spatula or the stove cooking it. Thats nasty and gross, something was causing the table to shake the whole time too. Not going back, stomache is a bit messed up too.

Its regular normal food. Overpriced. But the worst thing that happen the day i went to this place was when i got in with my little kids and then some kind of trouble was happening between the owner and a random guy. The owner was screaming like if he was at his house not caring at all about the customers neither the little kids who were there, not once but twice. After that the tension stayed at the place. I had to stay because I already ordered. Im not coming back over there and i wont recommend to anyone.

The "buffalo strips" are actually just the Tyson premade chicken cut into strips and covered in buffalo sauce. All the food was soggy and made wrong and the bread was stale and old... To top it off, the waitress was too busy watching TV to ever come back and fill our endless coffee (which also kind of tasted like dirt). Terrible food, terrible service. Do not recommend.

The best place to get breakfast, amazing food, and insanely fast. I was honestly skeptical of how good the food would be when our waitress brought our food to us not even 5 minutes after ordering, but it was fresh and delicious. Not only is the food fast and delicious, but the waiters and waitresses are incredibly kind and friendly! Would recommend this place to anyone.
