Terrible experience. The only reason why Soco is even getting 1 star is just for the food. I came here on Sunday June 18th for Fathers Day. I came here with my wife and our 1 and 2 year old daughters. Soco opens at 12pm on a Sunday. We decided to come here last minute. We joined the line that was already lined up in front of Soco at 12pm. Once we got into Soco, we were greeted by a hostess who was only seating guests with reservations. We did not have reservations. We were second in a line that was starting to get longer and longer by the minute. I asked the hostess when she will start seating guests without reservations, she said 10-15 minutes. They were catering to guests who were late for there own reservations. At 12:15pm, the hostess decided to go around to all the guests at the bar and everyone else waiting in line, asking AGAIN, if anyone had reservations. I then asked that we start getting seated since it has been 15 minutes and guests with reservations were not there. She finally decided to seat people. We were seated all the way in the back, outside, not to our preference nor did they even ask. Everyone seated around us were seated after us. Within 10 minutes, everyone received drinks and an appetizer. We waited 35-40 minutes for drinks. A few minutes later, our appetizers together with our food came after asking our waitress numerous times why our food and drinks were taking a longer than everyone elses. The two tables next to us ordered the same appetizers as us. I would hope that this wasnt a result of me speaking up earlier in line, but it seems like an odd coincidence. The food was amazing. I had the Chicken and Waffles. The buttermilk fried chicken was delicious. We also had the BBQ Spare Ribs and Mac and Cheese. All was delicious. I highly recommend this place for take out or delivery if offered but the SERVICE was TERRIBLE!

So went to the fantastic establishment on a whim of a girlfriend who saw them on Love & Hip Hop (or some ratchety show along that nature), thank God she stomached the burning of brain cells......because this place an 8th Wonder!!!!!!! So my initial exposure was begun by contacting the restaurant to get reservations for a summer Friday night with Kathy (the manager), who was pleasant and attempted to accommodate my girlfriend and I. We arrive at SoCo I believe sometime after 8pm....on a summer night Friday, we asked for Kathy who recalled speaking with me on the phone and who joyfully seated my girlfriend and I immediately (Joy!!!). the star treatment continued with the waiting staff whom were extremely attentive and generally in joy to be working, mind you now they were packed we counted at least 3 large parties celebrating birthdays or some occasion but that didnt alter their service to smaller dinner parties. Our server Tabitha (aka Tabbi) was fabulous with all her recommendations and and overall service. So we went with the stars of red velvet waffles and buttermilk fried chicken, collard green and mac n cheese sides. The drinks were to die for I tried a red lemonade, mardi gras and Bourbon Street Mango Juice (yes I know I need a program). The decor was simple yet modern and the fellow patrons were your standard Brooklyn flavor. So if you didnt get the gist of my review I was thoroughly impressed by the staff and management, and my overall experience and food experience was above and beyond. SoCo is my new fav spot in BK........Chez Lola!!!! But SoCos food, staff and management gets my thumbs up across the broad!!!!!!

Arrived at the restaurant, post my sons graduation ceremony, around 2:15 pm. reservation was for 11 people 9 people came, waited for half hour to be seated. Finally at 3:20 we were seated. Waiter came and asked about water ($5.00 a bottle) and drinks. as previously stated by other reviewers the price of the drinks and the glass the drinks come in. Rip off in the highest order. BYOB!!!!!! Ask for tap water. Orders were placed and we waited and waited and waited. Other diners came got their meals, ate and left and others were seated, but my table, waited and waited and waited. 2 hours for food, we ate the appetizers and digested it and was still waiting on the main course. Finally food came and it was a let down. Portion size ridiculous, cold, tasteless and lets not forget one dish was under cooked and the waited actually tried to convince us it was cooked. the only thing that actually came to the table that was good was the mac and cheese. the tables around us got their food in a timely fashion, Our waiter was Houdini most of the time, other waiters were helping us, serving us, As per him, he was cooking our food?!?!?!?!? Then the manager came and said he will adjust the bill, only to go pay the bill and the cashier doing their own thing, we had to go back 3 times before the adjustments were actually implemented. This was an awfull experience, I know we were in a gentified neighborhood and maybe this is acceptable to the gentified people but this whole experience was distasteful and disgusting, No I will not be recommending this restaurant nor will I be returning,

Im sitting in a faraway place out there in NY state, a place they call Long Island. I will not be having this. Long Island is a far departure from the hectic busy life of Manhattan, so I drove long and far to get to Brooklyn and get me some classic chicken and waffles. SoCo is a trendier version of Roscoes. When Roscoes gives you big plate, bit portions, SoCo gives you big plate and not-as-big portions. No matter, the food was pretty delicious. I had the staple, the popular, the legendary: -=-Buttermilk Chicken and Red Velvet Waffles-=- $18. Good, expensive, but unique. Who will not bow down to Red Velvet waffles. It was soft, but lightly not-overly sweet. The chicken on top was really the highlight here though. It was not oily at all for something fried. There is a definite emphasis on the "buttermilk" part of the name. The chicken meat itself was soft and went down pretty easily despite the constant food gorging of my NY trip. Maya was my server at the bar, and she was attentive for the most part at during the busy hour that I was there. She offered the Mothers Milk Beer on tap which was a good compliment to my meal. Hell, beer is good with anything. If you find yourself in Brooklyn and dont want to make the hours-long wait at Grimaldi, check this place out.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood. The menu has recently gone through an upgrade, and so has management. Nonetheless, The quality of food, has remained perfect. The flavors, spices of the dishes Ive eaten are savory, give me a nostalgic feeling of when I use to visit my Big Ma in South Carolina and eat her delicious southern traditional recipes. Some of the dishes also remind me of my wanderlust visits to the Caribbean. The menu gets me as a foodie, Chef, and my cultural roots. Brunch is by far one of thee best options Ive experienced. If youre in Brooklyn come by! My daughter Loves this place too. We do a lot of Mommy daughter, dinner dates here. In fact, my whole family loves this restaurant. As for servers, Ive only had one energetic encounter with one of the Servers, who seems to be very distant, but in observing, he may consider himself being extremely focused on his job. Though he can stand to be a bit more attentive to the folks hes serving. Other than that, the staff, servers are always accommodating.
