Its difficult not comparing this place with Barboncino -- theyre in close proximity in the same neighborhood and serve the same thing: brick oven pizza. Furthermore, Barboncino is the big brother of all the brick oven pizzas in the area since it was first, and arguably, the best. Yes, its unfair to compare them. But its hard not to. My apologies to Ogliastro. I hope you understand: * Both menus are mostly just pizza with just a few high quality mouth watering appetizers. Ogliastro has slightly more items on the menu. * The staff at both restaurants are as friendly as can be. Love the people at both places. * Barboncino is a slightly more minimalistic pizza. Ogliastro is slightly more busy. * Both pizzas sure are pretty. These are pizzas you can be proud of taking to the prom. I dunno. Although both pizzas are phenomenal, for me Barboncino just works better. I think the cheese is tastier. I like the dough a bit more. Dont get me wrong -- I am definitely a fan of Ogliastro, and I wouldnt hesitate coming back, not for a second, but Barboncino is as good as it gets, while Im a "fan" of Ogliastro. What would make Ogliastro 5 stars? Im not a chef, so I dont know how to express "make the cheese more delicious and dough tastier" in a helpful way. Perhaps it should research putting even more tastier / gourmet small side items, like a gourmet Italian tapas. Ill tell you, that Carciofo is one of the best things Ive eaten in months, and I would come back for the meatballs alone! I think this is an area where Ogliastro can really compete. Carciofo: A+ Delicate, yet delicious. You would be doing yourself a bad disservice not trying this gourmet delicacy. Polpette (Meatballs): A+ It had my 1.5 year daughter asking for meatballs all day long. Bufala: B- Nice, but a bit too bland for me. I didnt feel like it was savory. The flavors were a bit too weak. I think the sauce should stood out more. Same problem as the carbonara, except the carbonara was a blanket of spiciness instead of a blanket of blandness. Too homogeneous, which makes it uninteresting. Vongole E Gamberi: B+ I didnt care for it. It wasnt savory: the flavors were all too muted; they blended with the crème fraiche, and the whole thing was just too homogeneous. However, my wife and step father liked it, so Im giving it their rating, not mine. Id give it a C-. Carbonara: D I dont mind spicy, but the whole pizza just tasted the same no matter where you ate it. Spiciness doesnt work like that for me. Picante flavors should be used tastefully, to punctuate something interesting, not as a blanket to hang over the entire dish. The bufala has similar, except with bland flavors instead of picante flavors. Margherita with sausage and shaved Parmesan: A- My favorite of the bunch. It had distinct flavors which I could enjoy -- definitely more sophisticated and less homogeneous than the other pizzas. I wish the Parmesan was stronger -- perhaps they should offer Romano? The sausage was fantastic. Savory, soft, delicious.

Ogliastro serves really fantastic, creative personal pizzas alongside a great selection of beers and Italian wine. The decor is a warm, although a bit overly "crunchy". They have a large backyard with a lot of seating (for those nice days). Generally the staff is really kind and accommodating though we did once have a bit of an altercation when we accidentally miscalculated the tip and one of the managers made very passive aggressive comments and ended up yelling at one of the people in our party (alongside some borderline racist statements). Very, very unprofessional. Having worked in hospitality myself, nobody - especially not a manager - should act that way no matter what the occasion. In general, I love this place - the food and the people are really wonderful. I would love to give it 5 stars but that one management experience leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I will definitely be back - I just hope that manager is gone.

Beautiful space, super friendly and attentive staff, and the burrata is on another level. What else do you need to know? This place is a gem. EDIT on Sunday, 3/8/15: When we arrived for brunch, we were told they were out of Bloody Marys and were making more. We have since finished our meal but asked about the Bloody Marys anyway, and were told they are "nowhere near" being ready. How any restaurant in this neighborhood is not prepared for Sunday brunch is beyond me. Very disappointing. Rating has been downgraded to 3 stars.

Delish and accommodating. Had a party of 6, one of which was a sleeping 3yr. toddler in a stroller! They got us a table (mind you in a smaller, more intimate restaurant so this could have been hard, complicated and we could have been turned away!) NOT here! They set a table for us and left room next to us for the sleeping toddler! So impressed with the service! Then the food arrives which was beyond yummy! Tastes a lot like the food we ate while touring thru Italy on our honeymoon. Thanks and we will be back.

Couldnt even try the pizza. I ordered a cheese pie from the car. Took me 20 minutes to drive there because of traffic. My son goes inside and they sold the pizza to some one else. What kind of business this? Not only that the person on the phone lied about when I ordered the pizza. Lady, I have a call log on my phone. I ordered 20 minutes ago. If you want your business to succeed you need to treat your customers better. Went to Ginos pizzeria on Washington Avenue, great pizza.

Good pizza, amazing (secret - you have to ask about it) wine list and fabulous salads. But the thing that put this place over the top for me was the outdoor patio. It was like being in a small piazza in Italy, eating, drinking and having a great time with friends.

Ogliastro is fantastic. I prefer the saucier pizzas, but all of the ones Ive tried are thoughtfully put together and delicious. The wine selection is just what you need. For appetizers, the Carciofo is amazing, but you really wont go wrong here.

Delicious pizza and tasty salad! The beer and wine by the glass selections are solid - there are 8 or 9 beers on draught. We tried the funghi pizza, which was tasty, and their house made chili infused olive oil brought it home. Well be back!

Great pizza, great cocktails and Italian drinks selection and attractive setting. The staff is warm and helpful and the kitchen is open later than most places in the area. Great place for a late cocktail or a personal pie.

This place is a Prospect Heights gem. Amazing pizza, brilliant decor, and the best bartender around. Surprisingly empty at times considering the quality. Support this place and keep it in our neighborhood!

Some of the best artisan pizza in New York, no joke! Wine/beer selection is great, service was good and friendly, and the atmosphere is awesome. Fairly affordable too.Highly recommended.

A spacious patio in the back, a beautifully lit space inside, and terrific Italian-style pizza served at reasonable prices. My new favorite dinner spot in the area.

Great pizza (though virtually nothing else), and an excellent bar for beer, wine, cocktails. Cozy with a great outdoor space as well
