There is a ton of hype around Emily and always a wait. After eating here I can see why. This pizza was the most pizzagasmy pizza I have ever put in my mouth. Youll be dreaming about this pizza long after you eat it. After a couple of attempts to eat here when the wait was over an hour, we finally hit it at a good time and got bar seats immediately upon walking in. There was a sign on the door that the burgers were sold out, which seems to happen very early in the day if thats what you are going for. Looking on the menu I was surprised to see its a $27 burger. Its described as Pat LaFrieda dry aged beef, Tom Cat pretzel bun, EMMY sauce, caramelized onion, Grafton cheddar, cornichon & fries. The jury is out on whether its worth the price since I have yet to try it, but I can tell you that the pizza is. In addition to pizza Emily offers salad, wings, fries, and a full bar which includes draft beer and craft cocktails. Pizzas range from $12-$22 and are divided into categories of Red, Pinks, Greens and Whites. They all sound so good we had a hard time choosing but ended up going with a Colony (sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, pickled jalapeños, honey) and Quattro (pickled jalapeños, cheddar curds, bacon, ranch) The timing was a touch slow so we had time for a second round before the pizzas came out. This was a ton of pizza for two. The Colony was so, so amazing. The sweet honey flavor mixed with the spicy jalapeños was a total win. Beware this is a very spicy pizza so you might need to remove some peppers if you are sensitive. The Quattro was so pretty just to look at with a huge ranch swirl on top. It was even better to eat. This pizza is rich, creamy and amazing. I for sure got some heartburn after eating it but it was worth it :P We killed both pies pretty hard since they were so delectable, but still went home with our leftover slices. Cant wait to return-if there is a wait its worth it. Go to one of the bars across the street to kill time.

My wife took me here to celebrate my GRE results. I hadnt even realized such a great restaurant is practically in our backyard. Emily is dimly lit in a good way and is a very intimate (small) space. We sat at the bar, not far from the large Neapolitan pizza oven. The bartender who served us was very friendly. She was very good at accommodating our vegan needs. The pizza was amazing. It was definitely as good as any pizza weve had in New York and that includes Lucali and Paulie Gees. Perhaps I dont have a developed enough sense of taste to differentiate one pizza from the next but I think you could put Emilys pizza up against any pizza place in the city. So many pizzas lack a depth of flavor; they may taste fine at first but then are missing that kick at the back end. Emily doesnt have this problem. The flavor was as good as Ive had. Combine the great pizza with the nice interior and the good service and the result is one of the better dining experiences Ive had in New York.

The reviews are raving so Ill give a dissenting opinion. My girlfriend and I have been here twice, attracted by both the positive reviews and proximity. Pasta was under-done, over-sauced, and just kinda meh for the frannys bill; the pizza was spongey, soggy, and busy. Couldnt make out the fancy ingredients through the aggressive honey. I was really bummed out. Its fairly pricy and located near the hipster-neo-italian frannys and speedy romeo. Both of which are around the same price point and better executed. Second trip was a little better. We both ordered simpler pizzas, both were crispier but only for a few minutes. The dress everything with a little more moisture than I like -- and Im just not into topping-centered super moist pizzas. Its not my thing, and its not their fault I dont like em. I would say their pasta is objectively not worth the money, and a pizzas can be pretty okay but fall flat other places nearby.

So, first let me say, we order too much for. All the damn time. For 4 people, we ordered 2 pizzas, the wings, 3 burgers and a seasonal gnocchi special. The beer selection was good. Im automatically a fan of place with a sour beer. The gnocchi had fiddle heads and mushrooms and was tasty af. They crisped the gnocchi, which were like airy pillows and the fiddle heads were fresh. The wings were so, so good. They were crispy and tangy and not too spicy. We all liked the burger with onion sauce was sweet and salty and messy! The actual burger flavor was eclipsed but all and all a will rounded burger on a really nice pretzel roll. The pizzas are where we headed south. The crust was soggy and had too much tomato sauce. There was hardly any sausage on the sausage pie. We got the Emily pie, too. It was okay but definitely not truffle flavor. The honey with pistachios were nice on the Emily. Id go for the burger but leave the pizza.

My friend wanted to go here for dinner; I guess he saw it on TV. I was pretty disappointed. He told me the burgers were featured and supposed to be great. Well they didnt have any of those. The couple sitting next to us said they only sell 25 a night. Theres no other meat supplier that can sell that blend? I ended up with one of the red sauce pizzas and the sauce was terrible. It had zero flavor at all. When I want sweet red sauce I go to a certain pizza place. When I want acidic sauce I go to another. But I am not even kidding you literally couldnt taste the red sauce - like it was spooned out of a Hunts can. I also found the wine pour to be less than generous, maybe because it was served in a kiddie cup. Anyway, $90 for two people, one drink each and two 12" mediocre pizzas. One star for ambiance as there was a fight in the bar area while we were there. Total bust.

My expectations have been so high, but I honestly was so disappointed afterwards. I came here to celebrate my birthday full of anticipation for the dry aged beef burger. Well, first point I didnt like was that it was so incredibly loud, I could barely understand what my friend was saying. I orded the homemade lavender lemonad, which tasted bitter and weird. The burger looked amazing, but after two bites I already felt kind of sick: Grease was running down my hands. Basically the whole burger tasted just greasy. The worst: To bite on a piece of bone in the meat - so bad! Maybe my expectations have been too high, but besides that the piece of bone in the pattie is just a no go :( Oh, and my friend actually didnt like the burger either and felt really bad afterwards. Just too greasy! (The pizza looked really good though)

This place is always packed so when I happened by with a friend right as they were opening for the evening our decision for dinner was made. We sat at the bar and grabbed a few cocktails. They were well made and not overwhelming. The bartender was super nice and had great Wine suggestions for the pies that we ordered. This place is definitely more suited to parties of 4 people tops. Otherwise be ready to wait or have to make a reservation way in advance, the space is small and full of 2 top tables. As for the food, it was delicious fresh and light. The flavor parings on the pies ranged from the usual suspects to more unusual flavor combos that totally worked. Also noticed that they do pies to go which may be the way to go for me. Otherwise Ill definitely be back to try the burger Ive heard so much about.
