my mother and i first entered Brewster pastry a few years ago because she needed coffee. it was two days before St. Patricks day, and was fairly early in the morning. we opened the doors and were assailed by the smells of real butter and powdered sugar. my mom immediately said that she knows what heaven will smell like. i almost started laughing when we saw the owner. even before ordering anything, i knew the food was going to be amazing. i have never liked irish soda bread, but am obsessed with his. it is studded with golden raisins and has a glossy sheen. it was incredibly moist, which is completely unexpected in irish soda bread. the weight of the baker is usually a great indication of the quality of the food, and Thierry is a great guy. our experience with him is that he is as sweet as his pastries. the phrase "you are what you eat" fits him perfectly. talking to him about pastries really shows that baking isnt just his job, but his calling. get to know him and his pastries and you will see what i mean. i think it isnt his fault if someone didnt bother asking one of the senior staff about something as serious as a wedding cake. and i will honestly say he could charge more for everything, and i would still pay for the food he makes. Brewster pastry pastries are just that good!!! their customer service is usually very good. i get the sense that even the hired staff are treated like family. the customers are certainly treated like friends. i hope even more people begin to shop at brewster pastry. every single thing ive tried there has been amazing. and think about it, a french baker who has traveled the world in his youth. france is like the best place in the world to get baked goods. i think we are lucky thierry decided to settle down in middle-of-nowhere Brewster. absolutely no complaints here. and i meant the weight comment as praise. i would never be as loyal to a skinny baker, or as trusting of their baked goods. extra weight implies he makes sure to try his recipes before he sells them. this method ensures every piece of food he sells is up to the standard he thinks you deserve. and although vegan chefs can also become very heavy, my own experience with vegan baking is that they should stick with making donuts and not experiment. real sugar and butter is really the only way to go with baked goods. long live thierry and his baked goods!!!!!!!!!!!!

The REAL DEAL! If your taste buds can discern quality, you will be IN HEAVEN when you taste this bakerys delicacies. You will taste the real butter, instead of vegetable shortening, in the baked goods. You will taste chocolate frostings and glazes that are not out of a can. One reviewer mentioned they did not like the cannolis, but this is a FRENCH bake shop. If you want Italan pastries, try an Italian bakery (good luck with that in the Brewster/Patterson/Carmel area!). At Brewster Pastry, you will find authentic French pastries and continental delicacies. We had them make the wedding cake for our daughters wedding. It contained tender, buttery cake layers, not the typical wooden-tasting cake that is in most commercial layer cakes. The filling was spectacular, and my daughter wanted rolled fondant, tinted to a custom color, for the outside. She had brought Thiery a photo of what she wanted, and he duplicated it exactly. It was a rave hit at the wedding; everyone wanted to know from where we had gotten it. We wrapped the top layer and froze it for our daughter and son-in-laws first anniversay, and when we opened it, it tasted just like it had at the wedding. No one could believe it. Try their "lobster tail" pastries; that is a pastry I never even liked from other bakeries, and now I am addicted -- if you can get one, as they sell out quickly. My absolute favorite is the "Marjolaine" - either in a full size cake, or in an individual pastry. If Heaven has a flavor, that is it. As the last reviewer wrote, I am in no way affiliated with this bakery, except to have become a devoted customer, because of the quality of the baked goods and the great customer service they offer.

AVOID FOR WEDDING CAKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My fiancé and I were recommended to this place through a friend of a friend of a friend. So we show up (with my future in-laws) and startasking about wedding cakes. A low-level employee named "Andre" sits us down and starts asking us questions about style, # of people at the reception, location, etc. Eventually we settle on a size, style, etc and he tells us he will prepare an estimate but the total price should not exceed around $500.00. Fine, we shook hands and were told to come back a few weeks before the wedding to choose fillings and finalize the order. Fast forward to our next visit, we meet with Andre, choose our fillings, and we are told he has to finalize the price, but the total price should not exceed $600. My fiancé caught this right away, but me, being the optimist, still feel this is a great price given the # of people we are having at our wedding. So we wait, and wait, and wait, finally I inform Andre we have another appointment and we have to go, but to call me on my cell with the final #. So he calls me and tells me the price is now $800.00. I call back and demand to speak to the owner. When attempting to explain my story (I could barely get a word in) the owner starts sceaming at me telling me I should have known to talk to him (the owner) directly. To me this showed a complete lack of understanding about how customer service works, a lack of control over his employees and a complete mismanagement of my expectations. Bad customer service overall. I would rather give another baker $1,000.00 than give these jokers a dime. Hope they go out of business.

I have had the pleasure of enjoying all sorts of goodies from this establishment for the past 4 years now. The smell of the store is incredible. The pastries, pies, tarts, breads, doughnuts, cakes, absolutely EVERYTHING has never disappointed. Fantastic croissants, artisan breads, and pies like my grandma use to make keep me coming back. Thiery has also accomodated special requests that only a master pastry chef could be trusted with on celebratory occasions that really made the day. I think Brewster Pastry is a real asset to the community and I wish them continued success for many years to come. I also want to say this is the first ever review of this kind I have ever written and I am in no way related or asociated with this establishment or the owners. I just happened to stop by there again last Saturday and picked up some breads and doughnuts and my family was in heaven enjoying all the delicious artistic creations which did not last last long at all in our home. Enjoy!

I went into this Bakery in advice of a friend who experienced it and had nothing but delicious things to say. I took a trip to the Bakery from Mahopac just to see. I selected some pastries and the cookies. The marjilian was delightful could not wait to get another one and cookies were fantastic not big bulky and all tasting the same. Very very good I throughly enjoyed this Bakery and will drive out of my way for the wonderful treats offered. Today I will be going over to get some treats for holiday and to try and meltaway (I heard raves about). Thanks for all you sweet treats. Its about time!!!! :) :)
