After years and years of searching for a Mexican Brunch on Long Island , I stumbled on Verde Kitchen and Cocktails. After waiting a month for its opening, I was lucky enough to be one of their first customers. Not only is the food spectacular, the ambiance is truly out of this world. The first thing that I noticed while walking into the restaurant was the colorful day of the dead style hand painted mural behind the bar. A perfect contradiction to the beautiful dark wood bar and hand made furniture collected from different parts of the island. They also have brass bowls and trinkets scattered around the front room. Reminding you of its authentic Mexican roots thats commonly paired with fresh flowers from the greenhouse. Its very charming however, the best was yet to come. As you continue to walk into the restaurant you find yourself in an exquisite greenhouse with plenty of seating. Filled with flowers and herbs that are used daily in their cocktails and food. The chairs and tables are refinished by the owners, giving the feminine green house a lovely masculine touch. The food leaves other "Mexican" restaurants holding their heads down in shame. After being in Mexico, and having the pleasure of eating authentic street tacos, you can never go back to the "American" taco. Luckily, Zach, the head chef does a superb job recreating a street taco. Not too much, not to little. After every bite I kept on saying "this taste so fresh" and I wasnt speaking in slang. The entrees are something that you simply cant find anywhere else- I actually dare you to find a better Carne Asada. The Skirt steak is marinated with Guajillo peppers, giving it flavor that Ive never tasted before. The steak had a great char and was cook perfectly to temperature. Below the grass fed organic skirt steak was a bed of green onions and poblano peppers that were roasted perfectly. The dish also includes yellow platanos. A nice soft and sweet touch to the dish. Lastly, the avocado relish is added on top. A pleasant treasure to this sublime dish. Its served with warm tortillas and garlic rice, allowing you to remake your dish into many tacos. As far as the drinks are concerned, I cant say enough, actually, I dont shut up about it. After drinking at Verde Kitchen and Cocktails quite a few times, I simply roll my eyes to any other restaurants that try to focus on cocktails. They just cant compare. Ian, CJ, Annie, Jen and last but certainly not least, Julie should all tap themselves on the back for being able to reproduce gorgeous cocktails time and time again. Like the tacos, every drink is so, fresh. Each cocktail is made with fresh squeezed juices topped or muddled with fruits and herbs. After coming to Verde, you wont want to drink specialty cocktails anywhere else. I promise you that. Lastly, the brunch! The reason why I walked into those doors. The brunch is way better than any Mexican brunch Ive ever had in Manhattan (and, Im pretty sure Ive been to them all). One of my favorite dishes is the Masa biscuits with chorizo gravy. The biscuits are made with masa to give it a distinct corn flavor. The gravy has their homemade chorizo that never disappoints and to top off the dish are two perfectly 2 poached eggs, served with chorizo home fries. They also offer fresh squeezed mimosas and Bloody Marys for $5.00 that are well worth it. With all that said, I must compliment the owners Andy and Anthony. They do a great job greeting tables with a smile on their face, always willing to explain the food and cocktail menu in great detail. They really have a passion for their restaurant and it leaves you excited to be there. I wish them all the luck in the world and I will continue to visit Verde regularly. Thanks for bringing such a fresh, hip and delicious restaurant to the south shore. Bravo boys!

Let me say first I am a chef and a foodie! I all types of foods, flavors and I am not a picky eater, but I thought the food was absolutely terrible and over priced for the portions! The service was great, nice host and waiter so complaints there. I really like the atmosphere too and I had very high hopes for this place. We were not crazy about the verde sauce served with the tortillas. We order quesadillas, it was very bland and I did not like the use of the Mexican fresh cheese Oaxaca. The texture is like fresh mozzarella so when you heat it then it cools a its rubbery. We order the mini Carnitas tacos, the pork itself was ok but extremely greasy and way over priced for what you get. We split an entrée Pescado Mole, when they placed the dish down this fish smelled like it was on it way out, I took one bite and literally did not swallow and spit it out. It was disguising. Again I am not a picky eater by any means and LOVE new flavors. I will say the asparagus was cooked perfectly but the flavors of this dish were off putting. I see other reviews are much different but we will never go here again.

Amazing experience! I cant rave more about this place! The food was just unbelievable. Authentic mexican. The street tacos were so amazing I cant even describe with words. The cocktails were so ooooooh good as well. They have a pepper infused Margarita that was just so good we had to have 3 each! This was some of the best food we have had in years! Furthermore, the staff was incredible. Very fresh and local ingredients, you could tell the chef took special care in his creations. I will definitely be going back again. Dont even think twice about going here! You must try the carnitas tacos... oh my god. So good. A+ people. A gem that I hope remails in Bay shore for many years to come.

Review is based on a brunch experience. Bloody Marys and Marias (tequila instead) were tasty and a good size for brunch ($5). The biscuits with eggs had a sweet sauce that really made the dish. Starting off with a side of Guac was a great decision, tortillas were a bit too crunchy though. I personally really enjoyed the tacos, just a tad messy. Used the YELP deal which was a great incentive to come back. The place has a beautiful atmosphere with a green house out back. I didnt sit at one but inside I believe it was all high top tables. Not my fav for a nice night.

My girlfriend and I just got back. Im up to my gills with food. Everything we had was amazing, from the chorizo quesadillas, Mexican street tacos, black bean spicy soup, the guacamole, and the donut holes for dessert. The staff was great, although we went on a Monday and it wasnt busy, we hope that when we return its going to be the same explosions of flavor that we experienced the first time, Im not worried if I have to wait for the food, because it was that good. Go and enjoy the best Mexican cuisine on Long Island.

I have been dying to try this place since i have been following their Instagram. We finally got over here for taco Tuesday. The food was ok. The waiter we had really was great! Friendly and attentive. The Mexican street corn was fabulous! The chicken taco was pretty good. The Carnitas taco was ok, but lots of fatty meat, which I dont like. I also didnt care for the shrimp tacos.. the shrimp was very "strong" in taste.. a bit fishy.
