I will preface this review by saying that I am generally not a fan of Indian food. My wife, however is, so she convinced me to try it one more time. Red Saffron is an unassuming restaurant, located in a strip mall in Spotswood. After sitting down, we the friendly staff quickly presented a menu and took our beverage orders. When they returned with our drinks, they answered our many questions about several of the dishes and told us they could make the dishes any way we liked from mild to screamingly spicy. I chose to try Samosas for an appetizer followed by Butter Chicken, Nicchi, who has food allergies, decided to try a more savory chicken dish. The food was cooked to order, served hot, and delicious. The owner came out a few minutes after we started eating to ask how everything was and tell us a little about himself and his establishment. I could go on with minute details for some time, but I will sum up our experience. The food is quite good and reasonably priced, the restaurant is clean and well lit, although pretty spartan, and the staff and owners are very willing to accommodate requests for food allergies.

I went to order from Red Saffron last night and not only did I get a very rude person on the phone. I order Indian food all the time so I guess pronouncing the order properly was too much for them to understand. The meals I was ordering were all around $10 each. I was then asked if I wanted rice. What Indian meal doesnt come with rice? I was told rice was an extra $2.99 on top of the $10 meal and $1.5-2 naan that is ridiculous. I was told it was written on the menu I looked over the menu several times I didnt see Rice on the menu nor that the meals didnt come with rice. I was really excited and wanting to try this place out because I love Indian food so much and order minimum of 2 times per week. I went to cancel the order and said thank you but I will be ordering from somewhere else and the response I got was horrible "where else you going to order from". There are other Indian restaurants close by that have amazing food for very good prices. I will not frequent this restaurant at all. I do not care how close it is to my house. Such a shame being that I order so often! Red Saffron it was your loss.

This place is absolutely wonderful. Ive ordered from here 4 times and every time ive ended up satisfied. I have a pretty westernized palate(i like burgers, subs, etc), but the things ive gotten from here that both me and my family enjoyed were: 1.) Vegetables Samosas- these are spiced savory vegetables in a crispy outer layer 2.) Both the naan and garlic naan-flatbreads 3.) Malai Kofta-its like a vegetable/cheese dumpling in a very savory sauce 4.) Butter Chicken- cubed chicken in a creamy savory buttery sauce. 5.) Shahi Paneer- cheese curds in a creamy savory sauce 6.) Murg Curry Masala - chicken pieces in a very rich savory brown sauce 7.) Gulab Jamun- the best way i could describe these is a small round donut soaked in an intensely sweet syrup Please dont be intimidated by this place if you are unfamiliar with indian cuisine! I will probably be going here once every week/every other week as long as it is still here.

I personally love this place and food here . But I would like to say that the veg biriyani I had first time it blow my mind, but I was disappointed having it second time because it was no way like the way I had earlier . I still have no regrets coming here just an suggestion to the owner that please update your opening timing and add your schedule of the day if any . Because my last experience was not good, we came all the way from north jersey based on your web timings , while reaching we found that you serving only take away as some catering work was going on . Still you made us sit and eat their , but the issue was chef kept us waiting for long and also most of the food was not available. So my advice is only this that please keep your schedules updated online so that people can come accordingly.

I dont write reviews often but this god awful restaurant deserves it. First off these other reviews are a marketing scam I can say this for most reviews. So about my experience...I was looking to order some naan with chicken a simple order that was still somehow managed to get messed up. Instead of getting naan I dont even know what I got. It was some flat paper like bread. The chicken was like rubber and was so bland and smelled. I instantly called them up and it turns out the paper they drowned in oil that didnt rise was their naan. The women on the phone was so rude I wasnt expecting a refund or anything just telling them about my experience. All in all its a scam and you should spend your dollars somewhere you can get real food

The food was excellent. Everything tasted very good. We had naan, chili chicken, karahi chicken and butter chicken. The butter chicken was good and standard fare. The karahi chicken was better and the chili chicken was the best. I like the fact that you can order everything with less chili or more, as you prefer. I always prefer chilis more, so this is perfect for me. I would go to Red Saffron, whenever Im in the neighborhood and wish I could have a branch closer to where I live. I cant wait to try some of the mirch dishes. It would be even better if the menu were to include a sampler of a number of the dishes or appetizers, like they have in some American restaurants. Best of luck and keep up the good work.

Great addition to our area! Had the old standby chicken tikka masala, the veg biryani, and something new to me- the cream mushroom, which was a surprising delight. Everything was excellent, with sizeable portions and CHEAP, too- prices top out at ten bucks for an entree that will feed two. You only need to order one naan ($1.50)- its probably a foot in diameter before its cut. I hit Indian restaurants on Rt. 27, the Indian strip, as well as many others. Red Saffron is as good as any Ive been to. Hope they are here for a long, long time. Its nice to see something other than one more pizza joint. Hope the local provincials give it a shot.

1st order: Yummy home type food. Enjoyed the Tandoori chicken, Mutton curry and Noodles with my family... They make it as you wish and friendly owner... Added to our regular retaurant 3rd order: Felt cheated, may be the first order is just an attraction technique. The hard tandoori chicken was just some fried old chicken and then sauted with Onions... Not from the oven... Have to throw it in trash. The curry was OK in the entree but the chicken was so soft like Paneer..Family have to sleep hungry.... May be the Cook is changed.. Will i order again? May be , may be not?

We catered from red saffron twice.one was during Diwali with Indian cusine and second time during New year ,it was a Indo chinese menu with pizza . Both the times the food was delicious .They delivered it to plainsboro which was added advantage and when they delivered the food ,it was not in aluminum trays but in steel containers so the food remain hot for a longer time and we did not had to reheat it . Their pizza with some Indian spices was excellent . I would definitely recommend to try .
