Diners beware...stay away from this place if you want dont want to spend 3+ hours at dinner. We had a party of 10 people. We made reservations over a week in advance. We arrived at 7pm, when our reservation was for. The hostess informed us that our table was not ready. We went into the bar area to order drink while we waited. The gentleman bartender that was there was really rude and kept making face at everything and made a snooty comment about my partner getting IDd. The lady behind the bar took my order and it took over 15 minutes to get my drink. On top of that, a few people in my party were COMPLETELY ignored trying to order something. At 7:40pm, 40 minutes of waiting at the bar, we were finally seated. The waitress took our drink order and gave us menus. When she returned with our drinks, she gave them to us and walked away before taking our order. We waited another 20 minutes for someone to come take our order. After we finally placed our food order, we waited another hour to get our soups and salads. Meanwhile, people sat for 15+ minutes with no drink. By the time the cook arrived, it was 9pm...yes, over an hour for the cook to arrive. Luckily, she was great and was the best part of the entire experience. Her name was Gabrielle, or something like that. After the she left, we waited another 20+ minutes to get the check. A good number of people in my group were suppose to get dessert with their meal. When we said something to the waitress, she acted like she didnt understand us..probably because they all wanted to leave for the night. So essentially, half our party paid for something they never received. We all ended up walking out the door at 10:15pm...we got there at 7pm. What a disaster. If I was not with a large group of people, I would have walked out and I know that several others in the group would have as well. I will NEVER EVER return to this place. NOT WORTH THE PRICE OR THE TIME!

Benihana is a Hibachi Japanese cuisine restaurant, so I expected great food + a great show. The food was good, but the show was just ok. I’ve been to much better Hiabchi restaurants where I had a blast compared to Benihana. The location can be somewhat confusing; a GPS will bring you in a roundabout area. Look for a plaza like area with a Wawa close by because that’s where this restaurant is. Food So since it’s a Hibachi, you should expect the food to be expensive, and it is. Although expensive, it is really tasty and it’s really good. It’s made in front of you as well, so you know how fresh it is. Unlike other hibachi’s, they don’t give you hibachi fried rice; the fried rice costs extra, which kind of sucks. The soup and salad given in the beginning were just decent, but the main course was awesome. Entertainment So Hibachi’s are known for the entertainment of watching your food being made. Most places, the chefs in front of you are funny, hilarious, and very entertaining. My experience was somewhat lacking because the chef who was performing for us was a bore. He rarely smiled, was quiet, and looked like he just wanted to do his job and get it over with. His skills weren’t that great, too. Maybe it was just our experience though because as I looked around, the other chefs look much happier and entertaining. Service Although the chef was mediocre, the service was great. We couldn’t really hear/understand our server, but she got her point through and made sure we got what we needed throughout our entire stay there. It was a birthday when we came and they even gave us a complimentary ice cream and song; that made our dinner much more enjoyable. The hosting was good, too, although the store’s policy of needing the whole party to be there before being sat was a little annoying.

Wow reading the comments left earlier thats sad. We love Benihanas and especially this location. We have been going to this location for over 20 years. Ill say this. If you go during peak dinner hours of course theres going to be a wait, yes even with reservations. (They cant predict how fast people are going to eat.) And compared to the other Japanese restaurants that TRY to get you thinking they are just like Benis not even close! But again thats all up to what you like. Personally while Benis closed for a remodel a couple of years ago we tried one of them no thanks. I personally like my eyelashes, they did a fire on the table that scared my kids. The fire went up fast and was so hot, next to my two year old really!!! Not wise, not safe and never again. And the oil in a container where the mans pants come down, he moons you, or it is to look like hes peeing it out eww! Not again what I wish to teach my children as appropriate at a dinner table. And throwing food to someone else at the table to catch, am I at the circus or the dinner table? The staff is super busy but again in these many years we havent one person from there give us a bad experience. Peter, Paul and Jenny are awesome! (A few other favorites but sorry their names escape me right now.) I guess if youre already upset it might just seem like everyone is rubbing you the wrong way? Just plan on going when you have the time to enjoy the meal and experience. Good food cant be rushed! Lets face the fact that when were seated we know others are waiting but we arent gonna hurry up. Truth be told. I thank the staff for always putting their best foot forward. And we shall see you soon.

I went to dinner here last night because my cousin had a coupon to use for her birthday that Benihana emailed to her. We got there she needed to show her ID to prove it was in fact her. The waitress continued to remind everyone that she had the coupon and that we could not order the Hibachi Special that night for 2 people because she had the coupon. So after all of that the manager/owner came up to my cousin and said I am sorry you can not use this because it has already been used. What? She said someone else had used it. The whole reason we came to the restaurant was because of the coupon. We normally get together and go to Kubuki in Cherry Hill for hibachi and I will definately go back there. Benihana was expensive and the quality of the food was not nearly as good. We got charged $3.25 each for fried rice (was not included). White rice is included. We got mushrooms and onions.....no veggies. Not that I always enjoy the Hibachi show but there was none. He didnt try to even entertain us. The salad was crappy. It was an awful experience....I will never go back. At the end of the meal they asked everyone sitting with us if they wanted to sign up for the birthday club for a coupon. I said dont sign up they dont honor it. I looked right at the waitress and said why waste my time? It was awful!!!!!!!

WORST EXPERIENCE!! I have been going out for Hibachi on my birthday every year for over a decade. My wife an I moved to the area last year and decided to try Benihana. This was by far the WORST experience we have ever had at any Hibachi restaurant. The prices were WAY higher than anywhere else and the quality was horrible. The chef had no clue how to handle his tools (dropped his knife twice) and had no idea how to cook. There was no flair or "show" he just hit the spatula on the grill top a few times as he tossed the food around with no care for the actual preparation. He cooked everything in stages and took 15 minutes in between each item. So for 15 minutes all i had on my plate were some oily vegetables. then some bland rice, followed by a 25 min wait for the entree. My wifes scallops were so inconsistent, one was raw on one side because he failed to cook them properly and 2 of them were so overcooked that she didnt finish. I ordered steak (medium rare) and chicken. The steak was well done by the time it hit the plate and none of my food had any flavor. The chef never interacted with the guests and didnt say more than 2 words besides confirming what we ordered. I will NEVER go back to this restaurant.
