Went there with my family for my mothers birthday. I recommended going there because I had been there once before and had a satisfactory experience. After our waitress arrived at our table, my father and I each ordered burgers, and asked to have them be cooked well done. We received both burgers and both were rare. After taking a bite and realizing the burger was completely rare inside, I politely told the waitress, she apologized, and took it back. To my surprise, I received that same burger patty, that I had taken a bite from, back. After taking another bite, I realized that it was still undercooked and tasted old. I put the burger aside and just ate the fries. Although my dads burger was also rare, completely red inside, he didnt want to make a fuss. During our initial order, we had also asked for grilled shrimp. We received four pieces of shrimp on a tray, in ice. We told the waitress that we had asked for grilled shrimp, and she just stated that, thats what we ordered. After receiving the bill, we were charged for everything, including $13.50 for four pieces of shrimp on ice. My family and I are not the type to complain and not too picky, and even left a 12% tip with the horrible service and lack of regard for our meal by the waitress (we have never tipped less than 15%, and almost always tip over 20%). We definitely wont ever be going back to Suburban Diner again.

Unfortunately not a good experience. First upon going in with my family the hostess started to seat us in the far corner of the diner near the back exit door (probably because I had a child with us), so I asked her if we could sit in the main dining area she gave me that look and said "nothing is available right now" while I literally can see half the area empty. I should have walked out at that point but it was 9:30 pm and we were not in the mood to hunt around for another place. Next the waiter came to take our order which so far seemed ok, but I noticed after placing the order that it seemed like most of the other tables had dinner bread given to them. Never got it. Food arrived and that is when I decided this place really sucks!! Wife ordered a greek salad with grilled chicken and I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich , all dry. Who ruins grilled chicken in a diner unless the chef really does not care. Then I went to pay the check at the counter. A less than personable young gentleman (and I use the word "gentleman" loosely) just stood there without asking "how was your stay or how was your dinner" and took the credit card and gave me the printout to sign and just walked away from the counter. Really??? Verdict: Bland service, Bland food, Bland management

The diner was clean and well-decorated, but the food was entirely sub-par and overpriced. My husband got a burger that cost $13.50 and tasted like a $2 Macdonalds burger. My sister got pizza fries (for a whopping $10.50), which looked and tasted like they were made with cheap fries and even cheaper cheese. The sauce was heavily seasoned, probably to disguise its poor quality, but all it did was make her thirsty. No one brought her a water until we were almost done with the meal. Her chocolate milkshake was not worth drinking, for it was made with copious amounts of chocolate syrup instead of chocolate ice cream and looked like it had been stirred with a spoon instead of blended. I got a vanilla milkshake, which was more milk than shake, and mozzarella sticks, which were decent but had the same overpowered sauce as the pizza fries. The waitress did take the chocolate milkshake off of the check, but it still came to $45 with the tip, which is unacceptable for a small lunch at a diner for three people. We will certainly not be coming back here.

There is nothing quite like a typical, highway, New Jersey diner for me. It represents a moment in time that may not be here anymore, but for some will never go away. Waxing nostalgic on too big menus, various themes of somewhere else origin foods that all look and taste like continental now. Booths arranged only somewhat haphazardly, and various staff members either too busy, or not busy enough. The food is good, but not memorable. Order what you like, itll probably come out decent enough. The service is accommodating, welcoming, and polite. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous. Overall, a good example of the diner experience. If you pass it on the highway, think about how hungry you are. It may very well be worth the stop.

Updated North Jersey diner located in the middle of Paramus on one of the busiest stretches of Rt.17N. The parking lot is large, but gets filled during peak hours. Be careful when pulling back out onto 17; you will have to time it just right as the Parkway exit flows into that acceleration lane. The food is good, will treat you well, but is not memorable. I would recommend to stick to the basics of breakfast, burger, or a wrap and it will be a good deal. The portion size is not that big, but decent for the price. The wait staff is quick. Overall, if you are traveling up 17 and you are hungry and want a quick bite, its a good diner to eat at; however, there are better options in the area.

My son and I stopped for lunch and didnt want a big meal. We ordered the soup, half sandwich and salad. The soup was so good I ordered some to take home. The sandwich was excellent as was the Greek salad. The waitress was very attentive. We complimented everyone when we left because we enjoyed our meal so much! We stopped in on a Sunday for this same combo and were disappointed that they only had that on week days. Their French onion soup is also excellent. Thick, gooey cheese on top!

This place is awesome. Do not go in on a Sunday unless you get there before 11am! It will be packed and you will have to wait forever! They have a robust menu but the choices are excellent. I love their unique spin on traditional breakfast items, except for the "peanut butter pancakes". They serve that with peanut butter on the side instead of creating a meal with the peanut butter. try the pancake omelette. Everyone I witnessed ordering it was pleased with what they received!!!

The Good: Open 24 hours. ADA assessable. Everything from cocktails to Italian sandwiches. The nachos were good and came out hot! The staff is great. Totally attentive and kind. Willing to make recommendations and personable. Parking available on site! Diner atmosphere - but much nicer than the commercial chains! The Bad: Fake ranch. Fake Blu cheese. Sour cream from a small container. So much unnecessary waste. Bottom line: Go for a cocktail and maybe split a desert?

Honestly, we waited about ten minutes for a table in an emptying dining room, both our orders were wrong (my steak was medium well even though I ordered it rare, my wife didnt want cucumbers or chickpeas on her salad) and our server was inattentive. If she had asked how everything was, we would have said something. If she wrote our order down in anyway, it mightve come out right. That being said, three stars because the glasses were cool. Thanks Suburban Diner!
