My wife and I have been coming to this On The Border for several years now. This location has some of the friendliest people you could ask for. All the waiters and waitresses are always smiling, always happy (even when its crazy busy) and are always ready to suggest what to eat. Kin Tang, the manager, with whom we speak to every time we dine there is exceptional. You can tell he takes prides in this establishment and it shows. He visits tables just to say hello to customers and thank them for their business, he cleans tables, delivers food, whatever it takes to keep everything running smooth. Our server on Cinco De Mayo was Ashley and she did a great job. We asked for some suggestions for dinner and she basically ordered our meal for us...and it was delicious. My wife loved everything and considering she is super picky with her food, this was a major milestone in our dining out experiences. We didnt order the "Guacamole Live", where they prepare guacamole right at your table, but it looked nice so we plan on ordering it and having Ivana, the lady who we watched last night prepare it for us. They also have the greatest Cinco De Mayo block party!! We rocked out to a killer band, Big Bang Baby who can play pretty much anything you can think of. It was an awesome performance and we hope they play next year. All in all, On The Border New Brunswick is the place to go if you want exceptional service, smiling faces and great food. Thank you to everyone for treating us so nicely and trust us, well be going back here soon!

Looking for authentic Mexican cuisine? Fuhgeddaboudit! If you took an Applebees and a Taco Bell, smashed them together, and poured bright primary colors over the result, On The Border would be the result. So, whats the point? One word: ALCOHOL !!! Reviewers point out that the food is relatively inexpensive and excessively salty. Helllllo! You arent served salty chips and spicy salsa when you are seated for no reason. The reason is to get you drinking early, and often. There are dozens of truly authentic Mexican restaurants and taquerias within just minutes of this location, yet this place is packed at night and on weekends. Why? So people can get their drinky-drink on, of course! The service is ... inconsistent at best. We have received good service here, but also truly terrible service. It really seems hit-or-miss, and the perception is that there is a lot of turnover on the staff. If you need a convenient, accessible, and easy-to-locate place to rendezvous with a group before a movie of game, On the Border may fit the bill. But if youd like a truly great dining experience with authentic Mexican cuisine, venture off Rt. 1 and into the cluttered, confusing streets of New Brunswick a few minutes away. And ... BYOB!

I went on Friday, July 7th and my experience wasnt a positive one. The hostess wasnt friendly, yet she was to the person before me. I cant say it was racially based, but the person seated before me was white. So... In addition, the waitress (Morgan) did the bare minimum. She took my order and brought me my food. That was it. I gave a tip, although she didnt even deserve one. Usually I tip in excessive of 25% for good service, but that server only received 13%. She really didnt deserve that much. I might go back to see if Id have better luck with a different server and hopefully, that wench wont be at the door or in a better mood when she sees "a colored." On 07/11/2017 I returned and was immediately greeted by a friendly hostess. The server (Mariah) was extremely friendly as well. My experience was like night and day. Hanniyah (another server) was very friendly to me and even sat at the table with me to talk. I initially gave 2 stars, but increased it to 5 since my experience was so much better. I recommend Hanniyah and Mariah to serve you if you should ever go to this restaurant.

On the Boarder is a chain restaurant that specializes in Mexican food. The place is always clean and the people are always really friendly. There is not usually a wait, but at peak times you may have to wait a few minutes. The menu does not change all that much of at all and that is probably because the know what works and they do it well. The drink menu is pretty good, but the last time I went I was told that they were not able to do a froze margarita, which was odd since it was a Mexican place. The margarita on the rocks took 25 min to get out to me, but the waiter apologized and said it was on the house. I have to assume that they can usually do frozen margaritas and that they just could not do that that night. Bummer. I will have to go back and see about that. Otherwise, this is a good place that is quite festive and has something for everyone.

The place has a great vibe and atmosphere to it. They have chandeliers made out of beer bottles and the place is decorated with care and creativity. They even use mini mini corona bottles for condiments. I got the grande fajita steak nachos. At first the portion looked small, but the nachos were actually very filling because each chip had so many ingredients on it. I also liked how they put the pickled jalapenos on the side rather than on top of the chips. I always like it when they refill your basket of tortilla chips, and these chips were nice and crisp and big. The queso is also straight up amazing -- thick and heavy and drippy gooey. The mango margarita is also amazing. Very smooth and a very pleasant taste. Chilled perfectly with a good amount of sweetness. All in all, I enjoyed my experience here.

I avoided going to this restaurant for a long time because it always had so many cars around it that I thought I would have to wait forever. Finally I checked it out on a Wednesday night, figuring it would not be packed. There was no wait, but still it had lots of people eating. It is huge inside, so the load of cars do not create a great wait. The waiter was fantastic. The food is all that Americanized Mexican, but a decent-sized menu of it. The servings are huge. I would give it a higher rating, but a lot of the food is packed with cilantro and cilantro tastes like poisonous soap to me. I have gone back three more times so far, each time with a different wait staff, and each time the person was fantastic. Everyone working there looks happy to be there, and they have been trained well.

I would give 0 stars if I could. Whats the main reason you go out to eat? Food. They brought us cold food. How can you allow cold food to go out to the table? The service was horrendous. The manager stepped in and brought us all new side dishes. They came out a bit warm, not even hot. We order some mixed drinks and had some children with us who ordered drinks as well. We got our mixed drinks before the kids even got their drinks. Totally unacceptable. We asked for water when we ordered our mixed drinks as well. Didnt get that until halfway through our cold meals. The bill came and it was still over $100 for cold food. Unbelievable. I love mixican food but I will not return to this place. I recommend avoiding at all costs.
