(Taken as a copy paste from my Yelp account) This is one of my favorite spots since I was a child, going with my parents, friends and loved ones. Been coming here on and off for years near 20 + years. My father actually knows the family since they had a restaurant in another location in the early 80s. Owned by a Japanese couple, though they are getting older. Service is friendly and food is definitely on the large portion size. Wife does the seating and serving, husband primarily does the sushi. Sushi, ramen and the set menus dinner boxes are their strengths. They do follow more of the traditional Japanese style dishes and side dishes which makes them very unique compared to a Korean or Chinese owned Japanese restaurant with their non traditional sushi rolls and dinner combinations. The restaurant needs some updating, but I am willing to forgo the decor since I know a few years back they were actually looking to sell the restaurant which never came to fruition, so this may had some impact on their retirement. However if they can keep the food level at a great standard, I can live with the decor. (I think they last updated the interior back in the mid 90s) Place is large enough for medium size dinner parties. BYOB. A++ Service A++++ Food Give them a try! I know you wont be disappointed.

This is a small Japanese restaurant in an unassuming strip mall that has been in business for quite some time; it definitely has an old decor and feel. However, do not let the atmosphere turn you off because the food never disappoints. Local residents understand that the food easily achieves a solid 8-9 out of 10 with the portions being of a very generous size for the price. It is suggested to arrive there completely hungry or you will not be able to finish the entire dish. There is a large selection of noodle soups and sashimi, but just basic selection for sushi

I went on a Sunday night and it wasnt busy. I ordered yakiudon and nigiri sushi set. My wife got seafood udon, eel rice and karaage(fried chicken) set. I wouldnt call it amazing but every item was good and above average. Eel is really good. Both sets were around $18. Ill definitely come back again. I agree with a previous reviewer that everything is slow - it seemed like there were only two people doing all the cooking and serving. The restrooms are not the cleanest but okay. For those who have kids, they have high chairs and are pretty clean.

A great find in these days of Chinese sushi bars! The owner, Asahi-san, has been a sushi chef for more than 55 years, and has been in the same location since 1968. The sushi portions were 2 1/2 the size of your normal sushi. We had Hamachi toro, uni, and several handrolls. The quality of the fish was excellent. It is BYOB, but there is a liquor store next door. Very nice people and great service. I highly recommend Asahi.

Authentic sushi and delicious food. Excellent ingredient quality and food making technique. It offers the best Katsu Dong (Fried pork chop rice) I ever had. Various meal sets are all very worthy to try; Even the fried chicken tastes hilariously great! My then girl friend and now my wife took me to know this good place, and, yes, we come back again, again and again with our kids and our good friends.

This place is legit Japanese cuisine. The exterior in a strip mall is so unassuming but the food here is amazing. You wont find everything covered in spicy mayo (which I love!!) because its that authentic. They close in the middle of the day, but when my friend came to eat here we didnt get kicked out or anything. We had a great, leisurely meal. Come here if you want the real deal! :)
