First off the people that work there are on a ego trip as if they are some sort of exclusive dining spot. There was a odor of arrogance coming from some of the people that work there. The food is nothing special, the quality of the ingredients are nothing special. The temperature of my food was not ideal, my guess is they must have had it under a heat lamp for a little bit. I do not know for sure but all I can say is that it did not seem like everything was prepared in time to plate the dish and get it to me. The taste of of the food was just plain BLAH, nothing special about it.. I do not know what else to write about this place except for the fact that they think they are something they are not, they charge for something they do not provide and they can not produce a high quality meal to match their prices. I would stay away from this place, I have been there 3 times.. First time was a bad experience, second time wasnt my choice and the third was my giving them the benefit of the doubt... They still sucked on the third visit.. Good riddance!

Ok, Ive never experienced anything like this before in any restaurant - any where - including some snooty French places in Paris. Im interested to hear/see if anyone else has had this happen to them at the C.H. Read on.... My husband and I stopped in the Clinton House for a quick lunch. I ordered a turkey sandwich and asked if I could have it on another kind of bread as opposed to what was offered on the menu description. The waitress told me that they could/would not do that -- even though the bread I wanted was already offered on the roast beef sandwich. I pointed that out (meaning they had the bread) but she insisted (not in these words) that I had to have the sandwich their way, or no way. I was hungry so I had it their way. not happy. Burger King gives better service. A little work on customer care is in order here. The sandwich was good, but really. Id never go back there again and neither would my husband.

Owner is some guy who goes by Pete. His real name besides what Id call him to his face is Pantellis Gialias. We ate there until my wife and I became violently ill. After leaving the hospital I spoke with this JERK who basically yelled at me over the phone and was very unprofessional about the situation. He has since made up stories about me and my family because he is a tiny little coward who has to scream in order for anyone to notice hes in the room. I will never spend another penny in his place and am sad for anyone who has to deal with him.

I have been to Clinton House many times over the years. They are very consistant with their food and service. However, recently they changed out their wine glasses to a very small desert size glass. I am a wine lover and now aviod the place because of the glasses. It has nothing to do with the volume of the wine it has everything to do with the experience - drinking out of the inappropriate glasses. I hope they get the message. I am sure they are loosing other customers as well.

I ordered a filet mignon which was not cooked quite to my liking - I politely asked the waitress if it could be cook alittle longer - my plate was removed and I was informed a few minutes later the chef/owner would not redo my steak. I was then informed I would have to order something else from the menu - I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE A STEAK. Could not believe it - he is like the Soup Nazzi from Seinfeld. Of course, I went home upset and hungry. I wont be back...

My husband and I have dined at CH several times for different occasions including Valentines Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, our Anniversary, New Years Day, etc. We love the ambience, staff has always been very polite and provided good service. The food has always been wonderful and we keep coming back. On one occasion, our server even brought me a special sauce to try with my duck. Very comfortable and accommodating. Will continue to dine at Clinton House.

I cannot believe the owner of this restaurant doesnt get the importance of proper wine glasses. They are using desert glasses to serve Red Wine. They will not provide better glasses unless you order a bottle of wine. Even those glasses are horrific. They have some very good wines available and I would frequent more often if they would just get the glasses right. I would imagine there are many others that feel the same.

We are locals, and we eat here very often. We have never, ever had a bad meal at CH - it is the most consistent restaurant we have ever frequented, including many of the more upscale eateries in Manhattan. The wait staff is efficient, although many do not do a good job of remembering frequent customers. Given how much I enjoy the food, that doesnt concern me.

The food here is very good. It is not cheap, but I didnt feel ripped off. We showed up 30 minutes late for our reservation, which I know is a pain on a busy night. We called to let them know we were late. But the host was pretty rude to us when we arrived regarding our being late. Waitress was a bit off and not overly pleasant. All in all a good meal.

The Clinton House serves consistently good, standard American cuisine, from crab cakes to steaks. The atmosphere is kind of old-school to a fault, and it feels a bit dated. Still, theres a sort of historical charm about the place, and really, its just a Clinton, NJ institution that you have to go to at least once if youre in the area.

Love Clinton House. Definitely consistent quality, great steaks, reasonable special offerings with soup/salad, entree and coffee/dessert. Prime Rib Sundays with jazz in the bar section is great. Never had an experience with arrogant staff as one reviewer notes, and we have been here countless times.

I have been here a few times in the past year. The food was cooked perfectly. Enjoyed the atmosphere. The wait staff was attentive. The price is in line with what I was served. This isnt a fast food place, so obviously quality costs more.

Great food - reasonable drinks. Sometimes the service is slow, but its worth the wait. Sunday dinner specials include dessert and beverage, too, which gives one a great food value. All dishes are wonderful. Can be noisy when busy.

"we are not a clean plate restaurant" Thats what the manager told us when we sent back the chicken asparagas because it contained MSG. The food is garbage and staff gets arrogant when you cant eat the garbage they serve.

Have gone here many times for Holiday and Anniversary Dinners and loved it. Had lunch there today and thought a hamburger would be safe...it was overcooked, tasteless meat with soggy french fries..very disappointed!
