My first visit here was pleasant but the tacos were kind of dry and too salty but the enchiladas were good. My second visit ensured that I would NEVER come back again. We were eating and a Bug flew into one of our plates and kindly started walking across our rice. We called a waitress over who looked at the bug and apologized that it happened and offered to take it away and bring another. She was very sweet I might add from the time we sat down. A man came out the back with the SAME plate that the bug was on and very rudely and nasty told us he doesnt have any control over the bugs and that if we wanted he would ADD A LITTLE MORE RICE ONTO THE SAME PLATE THE BUG WAS WALKING ALL OVER. we all looked at him like he was crazy. We said NO. He offered the plate back to us and we told him No, thats okay were good and that we did not want it. WTH??? This isnt a 3rd world country, you cant offer to give people food that a disgusting bug has been crawling on. The "no control" aspect made no sense, let me explain why, because its your establishment and maybe you should take necessary measures to keep things from flying around into customers plates. (Bug zappers, fly traps, etc).... Im sure one or two may get away, but YOU should have offered to replace the rice not put MORE RICE ON TOP OF THE OLD RICE. The waitress was kind enough to take the rice and beans off the bill. Thanks for that. Im sure she knew we were pissed and disugsted by it. Just saying I would not recommend this place to any of my friends or fellow classmates.

I came here for dinner last night. Ive been here before and surprised that there isnt that many reviews here on google. I usually get tacos here. Either the al pastor or the chorizo. I enjoy the tacos here because the tortilla is bigger than other places. And they only use 1 tortilla per taco. The meat to tortilla ratio is meaty. I hate places where each taco is a double stack of tortilla and not enough meat. Anyways, I also got the mole pablano which was the special of the day. I think my expectation for the mole was too high. The chicken was a older chicken, like a hen. The meat was not simmered long a slow. The meat was dry and chewy. The place is small with 5 tables. I noticed they were really busy with take-out and delivery orders. They charge $3 bucks for delivery. I heard the owner over the phone. A place so small you will here everything. The bathroom is right next to the kitchen. You can see all the action if you need back there. I will come back here for more tacos. But might have to skip the mole and check out other authentic delicacies. Credit card accepted here.

Visited this restaurant recently (not sure why they call themselves a deli), and I was very disappointed. I let the owner know I was using a Groupon and was instantly treated like a nuisance. I was told that several of the items from the extremely limited menu were not available. I placed my order and was surprised that I was the only customer at the prime lunchtime hour. I got an order of chicken tacos and was disappointed to find that $8 only buys you 3 tacos instead of the standard 4, and each only with a single thin tortilla instead of 2 nice thick ones, which you will get at any of the best authentic Mexican joints in Northern NJ. No spicy red sauce offered and I wasnt allowed to take a paper menu home since they only had enough for dine-in customers to view. No worries, I wont need it again, and I suspect this place wont last long enough to matter.

El Shutdadoor is what this place should be called! My first visit here, and menus were wrong, I got pushed over and ignored for Mexican and other Latin customers who texted, called in their orders and walk-in. I can clearly see the helper who was busy on his Mac computer expect every customer to be familiar with all the Mexican items. This guy needs to be more courteous and helpful to non Hispanics. I had to walk out of there when my breakfast was getting prepared by the cook. I was disgusted by the attitude. Hopefully someone had my breakfast. Thanks to Google I found another place close-by that satisfied my hunger for Latin style food, and they were pleasant to non Hispanics.

Very good Mexican food. My first visit I had pozole which was absolutely amazing. The pozole is huge for their regular size you can order a large cant imagen how big it is lol. And it comes with tostadas. We also ordered tamales which were amazing too and they have all types of fillings. Although the mole enchiladas were not what I hoped. I guess my expectations are higher growing up with a Mexican grandmother eating her dishes. But I Loved their fresh guacamole as you can see from the photos the portions are huge and prices are great compared to other restaurants

El Matador is caught in some kind of an identity crisis - Its a deli that wants to be a small restaurant. Its also bit pricey for expectations. The food quality deserves at least 4 stars - I ordered the tacos, and a drink. Out came 3 single layer tortillas with a fair portion of meat (photo above). Still hungry, I ended up getting a tamale which was was authentic as well. Id give it an extra star if it priced itself for what it was, or If they increased portions.

Ordered for take out and was delivered an amazing experience. Tacos are huge, authentic, and delicious. I have no doubt, based on the level of expertise, that the rest of the menu is as solid as the tacos. Thoughtful accompaniments that add to great bites are unadvertised. Fresh radish, cucumber, and lime in addition to a complex cilantro/jalapeno-based salsa verde and a SPICY chili red sauce tops off the taco experience. Highly recommend.

Literally the worst tacos I have ever had. Spectacularly terrible. Stale chips. Cardboard tortillas. Tasteless salsa. All three different tacos were ridiculously dry. I grew up eating Southern California street tacos, so my expectations might be a little high, but holy s**t this was bad. $6 for a side of rice and beans!!!? Stopped at McDonalds across the street after losing $20 on food I couldnt force myself to eat.

Best authentic Mexican restaurant! The food is to die for! I may be exaggerating a bit, but you give it a try and tell me otherwise. Lets just say I eat there at least twice a month. I dont even look at the menu. I walk in...give the big man (Mucio) and his mother a hug...sit down...stuff my face...laugh a bit with Mucio and his mother...and walk out a fat and happy camper.

Excellent addition to Broad St. food scene in Bloomfield. Great comfort food with a flair for seafood and realistic portions. Perhaps more obvious presence on the street will bring in more customers to this deserving cozy spot and a location where in the past very good restaurants have suffered because it is easy to overlook.

OMG this place is amazing. Better than Senoritas in my opinion. I am spanish/peruvian but i have def. had my fair share of spanish food. I love their tacos dorados. Plus the staff is so nice, especially the owner (it was a guy I am assuming he was the owner since he was there late at night). Will go regularly!
