After my first time here I went back again the next day. I went around 11am to dine in. Chicken isnt as spicy as I thought it was going to be. Chicken is cooked to order so it comes to your table piping hot. Sides are good but the greens taste like they are from a can. Not a long wait at all. Chicken is cooked in peanut oil. ***UPDATE ***Ive been here a dozen times now.... Some servers are more friendly and professional than others. Theres 2 servers I will not let serve me. One because as soon as you put tip money (15%) down (while youre still sitting, talking and eating) she will come grab the tip and receipt and never come back to the table. The other because she moves slow and doesnt treat each guest equally. I cant give it 5 stars because food nor service isnt consistent. Slaw is only good half the time. Half the time its watered down...tastless. Sometimes chicken is to crispy. Side item portion sizes arent the same. Okra always comes out over fried (not getting that ever again lol). Seems like weekend food is horrible. Food taste better during the week.

Took a chance and visited for the first time on Friday, 10-14-16, just to see if it lived up to the hype. Ordered a five piece wing dinner special. Couldnt wait to get home to dive in. But it was a total disappointment. I only ate a few bites of the side dishes...and I could only eat one wing. Basically the meal wasnt even edible. The chicken was extremely hot & spicy....so much so, that you couldnt taste the meat. It was as if someone dumped an entire bottle of hot seasoning onto the chicken. After one wing, my mouth was on fire. Shocked that this is their standard chicken. I assumed that the regular chicken (which is what I ordered...because I hate hot & spicy chicken or hot food of any kind) wouldnt be so hot. I ended up dumping it into the trash. I got back up, got dressed & went to Popeyes instead. I just wish I could get my money back. Paid a small fortune (closer to $20 with some simple adjustments to my order) for a meal that wasnt edible. I wont be returning.

I drove an hour to get there on 2/6/2016. My boss highly recommended it. The chicken was very good. The "best" fried chicken? Not for me. The "experience"? Absolutely terrible. We walked in at 5 pm. We waited 30 minutes for a table (not unreasonable) Our order was taken at 5:50 pm. The waiter told us it would be 30 minutes for the food because they were really behind. We were willing to wait. At 6:10 pm we got our food. The waiter said they had run out of white meat...at a chicken place? Worse thing was, a couple came in 30 minutes after us and obviously knew the owner as they chit chatted and hugged. They got their food before us and were done eating and gone well before we even got our food...and they had chicken breast. It was our waiters first night. I still tipped him good and he gave us free slices of pie. Needless to say, we wont be back.

This was one of the worst experiences with fried chicken I have ever had. 1st off I paid just short of $25 for eight pieces of chicken ( 1 whole chicken ). The cashier told me when I said that it was my first time that the chicken is really good and Ill love it. It took almost 30 minutes to get my order, when I got it, it was presented to me in a brown paper bag with 2 slices of bread. And then placed in a plastic bag. I was told to not close the bag in order to keep the chicken crispy, I complied with this request (order), then drove home. Once I arrived I was prepared to eat my Guss chicken only find out that you will see from the picture the chicken was burnt and cooked in old overused cooking oil. I have written this to say that I will never have Guss World Famous Fried Chicken again. WORST CHICKEN EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have tried to get in for some time since they opened. I was able to today. Cool look inside, nothing you have not seen in a bunch of down home style places. I placed my order to go. The prices are a little high, however good food is not cheap. It took over 15 minutes to get my food, I am not the only person who today who had the same problem. As a mental note if you are on lunch, DO NOT GO THERE!!! got back to work, food looked and smelled great. The cole slaw was ok, the beans great. There was no fork or napkins in the bag. Also nowhere I seen to get any in the restaurant. The chicken crust was great. It was crunchy and with a great kick. The meat was juicy, however kind of bland. Over all good food, horrible service.

The seasoning on this chicken is phenomenal. Having eaten at the original in Mason, TN theres not a whole lot difference as far as the food quality goes. If I could criticize this place just a little it would be to say that the chicken was about 1-2 minutes overdone, though my wife thought it was perfect so really its a personal preference I think. The sides we had (fried okra, slaw, beans, Mac and cheese) werent anything to write home about but the chicken will keep you coming back to me and time again. We will definitely be back soon as the staff was fantastic and the restaurant was nice and clean. Get here before 6:30 or youll be waiting for a table.

I so looked forward to this because Fried Chicken is my go-to comfort food. Got a table within 15 minutes which wasnt bad, ordered and food server gave us our drinks and never checked back til we got our food about 30 minutes later. Chicken was dry and tough. Breading was good what there was of it (lot of our chicken had no breading) sides while good were really over priced. $30 for 2 chicken dinners and one ice tea and one water. I dont think we will be back!!! Ill stick with the fried chicken at Lees Famous Recipe or at Lindners Pub. Its much better chicken, service and less than $20 for 2 - 4 piece meals with 2 sides. Very disappointed!

Since I regularly use google reviews as a guide, I thought Id post our experience here. We visited on a Sunday afternoon. There was a nice crowd, but no wait. Our chicken was pretty good. I didnt expect it to taste like my grandmothers, but its the best chicken Ive had out. The chicken was fresh and hot and the sides were pretty good. I didnt care for the greens, but the cole slaw and mac& cheese were decent. Our kids enjoyed the chicken tenders and fries. Our server was delightful. Overall, it met our expectations and we will return.

Im not a fried chicken connoisseur by any means, but the chicken was decent and different enough to be unique. Very crispy... and spicy. Service was great. The Cole slaw was excellent and the beans tasted good, but like canned. Atmosphere was clean and casual. Only complaints are that pricing was rather high for what you get and I got probably the tiniest thigh Ive ever seen. I got a three piece meal and my daughters chicken strips were larger than all three of my pieces. For the price, Id expect generous sizes.
