We made a last minute trip to Kansas City for my wifes birthday because she wanted to eat at Buca. We went for lunch on on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 and were seated with 2 other tables fairly quickly. After being seated we waited for over 10 minutes for our waitress to acknowledge us and take our drink and appetizer order. We ordered the trio platter and mozzarella bread. The platter came out in about 20 minutes with the calamari being so burnt it was inedible. I had to let a different waitress know because once again Kitty our waitress was no where to be found. The manager brought out a new plate of calamari and set it on the table next to the burned plate which really showed how bad the first plate was. After the 2nd calamari plate was brought out we asked Kitty about the mozzarella and she said it was still in the oven, it came out about 10 minutes later. After waiting almost an hour and a half we had we had to find the manager because we still didnt have food even though both tables seated at the same time as us were either done or finishing dessert. After 95 minutes out food came out which was prosciutto stuffed chicken and a small and large quattro al forno. The chicken was burned and mushy but the pasta tasted ok. The manager was very apologetic and only charged us for the bread, chicken, and drinks. After the manager brought our food Kitty finally came back and asked if everything was ok now that we talked to the manager. Within a half hour of leaving is when more problems started. My daughter and I both started feeling ill with severe stomach cramps but the real fun started on the trip home on the turnpike when my young toddler who ate the pasta started throwing up in the car. It is sad to say what was one of our favorite restaurants is now somewhere that we will not be returning to. I should have known we were going to have problems when we heard the manager tell one of the groups seated with us that they only had half of their staff today. After checking reviews on other sites this seems to be quite a problem for this restaurant.

This was the worst experience I have had at this restaurant. Ive taken my family there many times and always had great service and food. I made reservations on line two weeks ago and specified the Popes table for 8 at 6:30pm. I received a call earlier this week confirming that reservation and was informed that that table is usually reserved for two hour slots at 6, 8 and 10 and if someone wants the table at 8 we would have to give it up. I was ok with that. Today, the date of my reservation, I received a call in the early afternoon that a party of 12 wanted the table at 7 and we would be moved to another table. I was disappointed but said ok. It was a celebration for my wifes 60th birthday so we were ready for quality service and food. Our drink order was not complete and when we told the waitress to cancel the order she said "oh I forgot anyway so theres nothing to cancel". We ordered 7 entrees and a pizza. The pizza arrived after we were finished eating so we had it put in a box to take with us. We ordered a dessert platter and waited about 20 minutes and it wasnt delivered. When we told our waitress to cancel it she got snippier and said fine. We had asked for 3 separate bills and waited to get it. I finally went to the front desk and the manager had dropped off a single bill at the table while I was on my way up front. The receptionist was very friendly and took my credit card and said shed take care of it for us. Meanwhile, the manager saw us at the front desk. She had our dessert tray and when she saw us, spun around and took the tray back to the kitchen. She didnt approach us or ask if there was a problem. Our waitress appeared with three separate bills and I said put it on one and well leave. She ran my credit card gave it back and said "happy birthday" and mumbled something as she turned and walked away. This was the first time in my life that I didnt leave a tip. Our bill was $310 and I would have left 20% but with the poor service AND attitude of the server and manager, neither deserved a tip.

I dine out seeking great food followed by great atmosphere. Italian cuisine is my favorite as I grew up watching Grandma make her special marinara and meatballs. Lets not even get started on all the garlics and herb breads. I went to Buca di Beppo on a Thursday afternoon for a birthday celebration and well of course, the search for a great dining experience. Upon entry, the restaurant carried a very unique Italian like appearance that was comforting as we entered. We waited patiently in the lobby for 8 minutes before being greated by a back of the house employee stating someone would be with us shortly in which was very clear to be an almost empty restaurant. The host approached very politely but not professionally or well groomed which immediately decreased the feeling of qaulity for this established. After being taking to our table at a very quick pace, the aroma of urine surpassed any smells coming from the kitchen and immediately my appetite was gone. This causing me to further inspect the cleanliness of the dining area, it appeared as if no cleaning crew existed. It was 1:00pm. The carpets were a mess and I could not get over the smell. I wanted to leave but was there with friends and family who suggested going here so I didnt want to be rude. Any other day I would have left. I wasnt impressed with the qaulity of the plates or silverware as it felt and looked very cheap and unsanitary. Our server was very nice and attentive which helped adding she got triple sat right after us. The food had flavor but everything was missing something. It seems as if the idea was to get as much on the plate as possible that resembles the look of spaghetti and meatballs. I was truly disappointed and couldnt wait to box up the food and leave the sour smelling dining area. The food was way overpriced as its priced for portion, not quality of freshness or flavor. I know some people like this restaurant but I will never return nor recommend it to anyone who hasnt been. Thank you for reading and I hope this review helped.

My family and I moved here from California just a few months ago. We loved the Buca Di Beppo in Anaheim, so much so that we used to go every few weeks as a family. However, we tried this one out and it was terrible. My wife went to use the bathrooms and got lost, she came back angry because she asked three different staff members were the bathrooms were and they just pointed and said "that way," each time. Thats not very good hospitality, by the way that place is a maze and only has one bathroom it takes talent to find it on your own. Our server was rude and impatient with us. The plates on the table were all dirty, and so was half the silverware, yet she was inconvenienced by us wanting clean plates and silverware. Once we got our food, which took way longer than our family ever had to wait for in Anaheim, we werent impressed with it either. My wife got the chicken that was tough and dry, while my kids pizza was burnt all around the edges and all the toppings were on one end of the pizza. My dish just isnt even worth mentioning, but I will say the potheads at McDonalds could have done a better job then the people they call chefs at this particular Buca. We asked to see a manager and never saw him. Which didnt surprise us, we just assumed he was too busy trying to BS his way out of all the other terrible experiences that other guest had to deal with like ours. Please dont waste your time going here. I feel ashamed of myself for taking my family here, dont embarrass yourself by going.
