This tiny restaurant is an absolute gem (closes at 1PM on Sundays). When we want to impress visitors, whether foodies or homespun types, we drive the 35 miles from Mankato to the Cottage Café. Meat and produce are as locally sourced as possible (herbs and table flowers from the "backyard"!). Prices are very reasonable, the kitchen is reliably excellent, the decor is quirky but excellent because it reflects the restaurants total integration in the sustainability of craftspeople in the area: pretty much everything is for sale. Dont forget to take home fresh-baked goods for breakfast! Only one minor limitation: Waitstaff are well-intentioned, sometimes charming, but seem to lack experience with restaurants serving food of this calibre.

Really charming little place. Every plate and chair is different. But the food was just phenomenal. Breads and pies are homemade every day. My steak was cooked perfectly and the chicken salad was unique and crafted to have the most perfect texture. Theres a surprisingly large menu, but just order off of the daily specials list. Theres always something for everyone.

Quaint establishment & homemade, organic, and local ( as much as possible) food. I love the raspberry salad pita. Their red cow burger is OK but Ive always found it to be too pinky red inside for my liking. Ask to have the home made sticky buns sliced in 1/2 (like hamburger buns) buttered and grilled. Way yummy!!!!;

Great place to stop at. Plan to take a little time here to enjoy the Scandinavian atmosphere. We were a group of six for breakfast and five had the Swedish pancakes. Everyone cleaned their plates. I had the Quiche and that was just the way I like it. This is a small place and you do need to make reservations.
