Closely spaced tables, low ceilings, and a fresh cut rose on the tables define the intimacy of this small cafe. The menu is heavy on breakfast items but there are a couple lurkers, some with a notable Asian flair. I was torn between the Big One omelet (three meats and veggies folded in, served with toast and chunks of fried potato) and the Bandito skillet (chorizo sausage, peppers, and veggies served over eggs and potatoes), but chose the Big One and was pleasantly surprised by the inclusion of zucchini as one of the vegetables inside the large omelet. This is the type of creative preparation that you cant find at the local coney island (i.e. the one immediately next door) and I will surely be back to try more of their dishes. I wont be bringing my kids or my rowdy pals--they dont seem to fit in with the professional crowd or the early closing time (Recipes serves only breakfast and lunch). The premises is very clean and service was pleasant; prices are on the upscale side but it is justified by the flavor and quality of the well-presented food here.

Today it was our second time at your Troy branch. We came back after an excellent experience last week. This time we did not like the table after we were seated and we waites the opportunity until a better table is available. We asked the manager i beleive her name is Lizzely if we can move. She refused and she inssisted to move us to a table of her choice. How rude is that. She is punishing me and my wife for setting on a table and requesting to move to another table. When spoke to her she did note even showed any politeness in explaining her rudeness. We are soooooo upset and disappointed. We love the food but we will not come again due to the manager behaviour.

I was just at Recipies in Troy with a group of retired ladies for breakfast. We have gone there once a month for several years. The waitress we have is always wonderful. The "manager" , Leslie, was extremely rude to us while we waited for our party. She treated the ladies with disrespect and rudeness. I will not return while Leslie is there, and I encourage anyone else who goes there not to give them your business.

If I could, Id give this place 15 stars. Yes, 15, lol. I have never tasted anything less than YUM from Recipes. I always get the sausage and gravy, which is just special. I also get the strawberries cheesecake french toast which is just a huge plate of even more YUM. Seriously, this place is so cute and the food is enough to rave about. :)

Some of the best brunch/breakfast food in the area. Great staff and actual good coffee. Not that burnt Folgers swill that most restaurants serve. They do crazy stuff with omelettes. Not in a high-traffic area so theres usually not a long wait unlike most breakfast places nearby.

Great hollendaise sauce, eggs over poached a little but its rare to get eggs cooked perfect anywhere. They have some great specials (strawberry cream cheese french toast), and wait staff is really good. Recommended to get there earlier than later on weekends.

I adore this elegant yet relaxed atmosphere! Perfect! The Bandito bowl(scrambler skillet) is to DIE for! The potatos covered with scrambled eggs, chorizo, salsa and melted cheese is the perfect combination to excite your taste buds :-) A MUST try!

Serving breakfast classics. The food is consistently satisfying. They arent trying to reinvent the wheel but Ive never been disappointed. They are always decently busy and wont seat you until your entire party has arrived.

Was seated quickly . However , sat there for 15 minutes before I was greeted. I had to proactively get up and get a waitress. Then I had to wait another 25 minutes for eggs . Food was good but the service was terrible.

I ordered the Crabcake Benedict. It smelled like dog food. The crab meat was abysmal. It tasted just as awful as it smelled. My muffin was burnt. Definitely not worth $13 I paid. So disappointed. I will never return.
