General Tsos chicken was terrible. Just fried hunks of dry flavorless chicken in a broth that too was seriously lacking flavor. How can a Chinese place screw up something so fundamental as general Tsos? The "fried rice" was like pan seared or something. No peas or carrots or anything, just rice that was dark and almost tasted burnt. The egg roll was the worst though, tasted so awful it is indescribable. It left the grossest taste in my mouth. I cannot describe how terrible this meal was I got. And btw everyone, this is my SECOND time going here. I figured it might have been a fluke the first time I went, this place had pretty good reviews. So maybe my bad experience with the chicken broccoli was just a fluke. Well that wasnt good at all either, but this general Tsos was the worst Chinese food I have ever had...anywhere. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

So the wife and I decided to start hitting up a different Chinese take-out spot around the Clawson, Royal Oak, Troy areas. New China is a small hole in the wall joint. Cozy and comfortably small dining room. We got take-out though. The food was fresh and hot. The chicken and lo-mien were not seasoned, but as to be expected. The chicken was very tender and with a packet of soy sauce the meal turned out okay. The lo-mien was not traditional lo-mien and unfortunately looked to be substituted with ramen noodles (a bit disappointing). Overall we enjoyed the meal. We may come back to this place, but only to try another dish. I think Ill stay away from the noodles, but the side of fried rice was awesome...so maybe a rice dish next time.

No place for families! Dont go with children here unless you want to be hassled by non-English speaking people the second your kid drops a little food on the floor. No kids menu. Ordered noodles for our baby here (plain noodles, think ramen) and was charged $8.95 for them. When the baby dropped some rice on the ground (maybe a spoonfull) the front check out lady came over and swept up and wiped down the table while we were still eating. Apparently, she is the manager. Food is okay, but highly overpriced considering you can get the same thing down the road on Long Lake at Kims with far better service. Pass on this place unless youre just seeking a bar.

This place is a hidden gem. With so any corporate restaurants on Big Beaver people tend to overlook our locally owned places. The decor is old school and classic. The food is cooked to order and piping hot to the table. The owner is also the server and she is a riot. After just a one visit she remembered us. We started coming here just a few weeks before we had our son. Our first visit back after he was born she was excited just like family. This place has won our loyalty and coming from 2 people in the restaurant industry that speaks volumes about New China.

The service was alright at New China, but as a Vegetarian there is a serious issue. The menu has a Vegetarian section, but the price includes the soup AND eg roll, which NEITHER is vegetarian. They will NOT substitute a spring roll for egg roll nor will they take off a few dollars for not ordering the soup and egg roll. They were not very freindly about being confronted with the problem. They would not listen and would not accept the complaint. We left upset and I would not recomend this resturant for anyone EXPECIALLY vegetarians.

Called in this evening to place a pick up order as I saw online it said they were open until 11pm. I called at 10:30 which should be plenty of time for just a pick up order! The lady who answered was extremely rude when I asked if they were still open and she responded with "Are you a regular?!?!" When we said no she said they were closed.....uhhhhh Im sorry, but we would have to be regulars for you to serve us a bit close to closing time? Not good business practice because now we never want to be regulars there!

I went into the restaurant at 940pm when they said it would close at 1030 to dine in. The person working there probably the owner said they close at 10 when clearly the open sign at their restaurant says 1030pm. She straight up lied to us and said I can give u a carry out and it would take 5 mins meaning she would just give us leftovers to get us out of he hair. I will never go back to this place and I hope they go out of business for lying and running a whack business.

If I could give this less than one star I would! Absolutely HORRIBLE service. From the minute you walk in it smells musty and old. Our meal was awful and the waitress told us that the chicken should be good because it was made 2 days ago!!! Disgusting. We voiced our displeasure and got yelled at from the owner saying we were crazy not to like their food. Unless you want to eat 2 day old chicken, be in a dirty atmosphere and have terrible service, do not go here.

I usually just get carry out from here, the food is amazing. I get the chicken and broccoli and its a fairly large portion, however it should be for nearly $10. My only complaint is that the woman who does the carry out phone/front desk is not pleasant at ALL. I have been to many Chinese restaurants before and they have all been very friendly, except this place. Im not sure why they have her in a position where her sole purpose is to work directly with people.

Setup is a selection of booths along a large bar, with a number of "tropical theme" drinks in the menu. Very good food; none of that cheapo inst-buffet junk, and theyll make it decently spicy upon request. Great variety, but not a mondo selection... all the staple Chinese dishes I love were there. The prices are a little high, but not overly expensive. For a sit-down Chinese restaurant, Id go back; its better than many of the areas take-out locales.

Stopped in for dinner this Sunday evening to try our local Chinese restaurant. The food was delicious; I got the subgum wor bar and my girlfriend ordered the lemon chicken and we got a side of crab rangoons to share. The rangoons actually had visible - and tangible - pieces of crab (probably imitation, but still good quality)! Egg rolls and wonton soup were also very good. A little on the pricey side, but the food is worth the money.

I have searched for a Chinese restaurant to compare to this one and it is yet to be found. The warm bread rolls are just one of the reasons to stop in and youd be hard-pressed to find an egg roll any where else thats as crispy. Go for the almond chicken or the three-star special and be nice to Alice, because if you go there often enough youll start to feel like family.
