I had never been to one prior to this, so I have no comparisons. Being a 10 year veteran of the food service industry, I would have to rate this location, overall, as good. The food was wonderful, but the staff and services were below par. Our server really didnt seem to want to be there. She said all the right things, but they were so fake it was almost uncomfortable. She didnt try to upsell with dessert or even ask if we wanted any. Thank goodness our children werent with us. The rate she moved, we would have had to box everything up to go and had a screaming child ruining the experience for others. There was a salad bar there, but I couldnt find a price for it and felt too much of a burden to ask our server. The hostess was very friendly. She was the only one who asked us how things were and she kept herself busy between customers.

I wont be back. We used to be regulars at the Chelsea Big Boy until it closed. We were excited when it reopened, but when we went to have dinner, we were completely disappointed to see 4 HUGE flat screens all over the restaurant. There was no seat available where a television wasnt visible. Absolutely HORRIBLE! If I want to eat in front of the television Ill go to a sports bar. Big Boy used to be about family and friends gathering, not watching television rather than interacting with the people with whom youre dining. I wont be back. The service was also very sub par - and I noticed a lot of the staff paying more attention to what was happening on television rather than with the customers. I wont be back and I miss the old owners and staff. Ill stick with the Cony Island across the street. Take down the televisions!

Between listening to the cook complain about what we ordered, and having to spell out everything for our waitress, we decided we will not be returning. Watched the waitress touch food with her bare hands and then give it to the table next to us. Also she gave us a banana split.. with vanilla ice cream, banana, caramel and nuts. She insisted that was went on a "big boy banana split." We had to show her in the menu that what she was insisting, was very wrong. Manager was not much help what so ever. Dont waste your time and money here, take your business across the street to Coney island. Better food and staff.

Foreign staff that can barely speak English. Ordered Cajun Chicken Alfredo, and it was far from Cajun, and the alfredo sauce looked as if they poured curdled milk on the noodles. Tasted about the same. This was my third visit to the restaurant, and certainly my last. Very dirty restrooms. Would NOT recommend this place. Go to coney across the street. Big Boy is a waste of your time.

Today I had lunch, received my bill, and then the manager charged me more than the stated amount on the bill when I reached the register. Unbelievable! Said the bill was incorrect. Well then dont give it to me in the first place! And if you make the mistake, you eat the cost difference! What a cheap place. They got their $1.30 today but theyve lost all future business from me.

The last 2 times we have been there the hostess/manager was too busy talking about her personal life to seat us. The first time - she finally did. The second time she never did and we walked out. This was a Friday night - and it was not busy at all. This should tell you something. We went to the diner across the street - which was packed! And we got fast service!

Always have good experiences here. I live in Chelsea and eat here a couple times a month over the past 3 years. Generally I go before noon and the wait staff are always friendly and attentive. I dont recall ever having a problem with my food. One waitress I get quite often, Lisa, is great!! I think Ive had to wait once for a table which was about 5 minutes.

Very bad service, took forever to get waited on, hair in the food, wouldnt bring two different things we ordered, wouldnt take away used plates, they would just stack up, stale food on breakfast bar and food not very warm. I will say that the manager did make it right with us. And no tip for the waitress, she was not good at all.

If you have a PEANUT allergy do not go here apparently they use peanut oil to cook in. Which absolutely makes no sense whatsoever since so many people are allergic to peanuts or nuts in general, not very happy with it as I love big boy and was so excited when I heard they where opening.

I can see why. Ackward service. Didnt know their product. Food prepared improperly. I never complain but had to when I left this place. They had no clue! Traveling. Hungry. Ate and left or would have sent back. We waited so long did not want to spend any more time there. Good riddance!

Ordered take out for dinner (4/23/16). Ordered buffalo chicken sandwich, which came sloppy and fell apart as I pulled it out of the soggy wrapper. Also ordered a side of Mac and cheese, there was 5 bites, with barely any cheese on it. Horrible meal. Never again

Worst food ever! Burnt hash browns INSIDE the farmers omelette, ham tasted off, and waitress never returned to our table until she asked if we were ready for the bill. They cashier did discount the meal, but that didnt make up for how sick I got!

We live in Chelsea and frequent here at least once a month. Since the new owner took over theyve gone down hill. Food isnt as good as it was, nor is it as clean. The restroom was horrid, and the smell was awful.

Big boy is normally pretty consistent. Not so much for this one. It took over an hour to order and get food, when it finally arrived it wasnt very tasty. Recommend uptown across the street instead.

Well I now know how theyre paying for all the renovations $12 for the breakfast buffet $7 for a BLT between the coffee and the apple juice we spent $30 I will not be back.

I had the Big boy burger with pepper Jack cheese. It was delicious. Serves was good and staff very friendly. Buying a box off Coffee is a must if you stop in and visit.
