For a long time we heard that Maize N Blue was the place to go, and certainly their TV endorsement further piqued our curiosity. And then we went it and it was... eh. We didnt understand how anyone could eat here when the town has Zingermans. Theyre a little cheaper and depending on where youre located, more central than Zingermans... but just... eh. In addition to the sandwiches being totally forgettable, I was not at all won over by the atmosphere. Maize and Blue is a small room with a few tables stuffed in. Not in an intimate way or a cozy way... just... messy? Uninspired? Memory has it there was a TV going in the background, too, which always bums me out. I do think this place is a lot better than the sandwich chains we have around, like Jimmy Johns or Potbellys. But if were talking about deli, stick to Zingermans and Amers.

Stopped in for dinner after daughter had surgery. I heard they had good food. It wasnt to bad. But the place is very very small. Not to mention, my daughter had to use restroom. But they have no bathroom!!!! Who has a business and no restroom??? Have I known that we would have kept driving and ate someplace else. Not to mention their prices are a bit much for what you get. Then I saw they had macaroni salad, it looked good. But it was also very expensive for the small size. The worker told me it was homemade, but after talking to him, I found that to be a lie. And I decided not to buy it then. I will not be coming back to this location.

Super fresh and good toasted challah bread. Staff is all SUPER nice and friendly and helpful. They ran out of salami/Bologna (which is what my girlfriend ordered) so he came over with a menu, and apologized, and asked her which other sandwiches shed like, and gave suggestions which was super helpful because this was our first time here! They have a DOPE insulated pulley system that brings the food up from the kitchen in the basement, which keeps the upstairs dining area quiet and calm. My ONLY suggestion for the management is to advertise that they have fries--theyre curly fries and theyre super good!

Best sandwiches in the city... Perhaps the best in the state. My favorite is #25, "Mimis Beginning". For about ten bucks youll get a sandwich so big you cant get your mouth around it, served with a huge pickle half. If you are visiting A2 and cant make up your mind, this is a solid choice. They must have close to 100 creatively designed sandwiches listed on the wall, grouped by type of meat (turkey, roast beef, pastrami, corned beef, etc).

Yes, forget Zingermans. Maize and Blue offers a superior sandwich for less. The amount of meat they use is simply staggering - easily close to 3/4 of a pound in some cases. The employees are usually friendly enough. The place is never crowded because the idiot frat guys and sorority girls who inhabit the neighborhood dont seem to be aware of its existence. Try the Maize and Blue Awning; one of the best sandwiches Ive ever had.

Stupendously mediocre. A $9.00 sandwich better knock my drawers off, and that was sadly not the case. Pastrami was way too lean - looked like it came out of an Oscar Meyer package. Anyone mistaking this for real deli has not been to the Bread Basket or Stage. Not terrible, but if you want deli - keep looking.

If youre not a big eater, a sandwich could easily be shared amongst two people. Had the roast beef sandwich with Dijon mustard, and a side of small fries(quantity was more like a large). The food was fresh but the Dijon mustard was too overpowering, would probably order it with plain mustard instead.

Went here on a whim. Very pleasant service. Made several recommendations to meet my wifes dietary preferences. My family had four sandwiches. Each were very good. Fresh quality ingredients, including the bread and meat. Be ready, the sandwiches are big and delicious.

Nice deli, plenty of seating, more seating downstairs and outside. Maize and Blue theme, great customer service. Got the sandwhiche to go. Big sandwhiches. I ordered the Coachs Ruben. Very tasty will be coming here again. Crispy bread, just how I like it.

Sandwiches are decent. Overpriced as many delis are but on multiple occasions theyve close a half hour before their posted close time. Just because they know how to put meat between a couple slices of bread does not mean they are above honesty.

Michigan themed Deli located in the University of Michigan campus. Prices are typical for a deli, but the portions are average considering the price. The bread was too thick and made the sandwich hard to eat. Cool place, but we wont return.

I have been looking for a beef Pastrami sandwich similar to the one in Katz deli in NY and finally found it in this place. Its not the same but thats the best Pastrami sandwich I had in Michigan.

The sandwiches here are delicious, and about the same price as you might pay at similar delicatessens in the area. The staff are very friendly, and the amount of food you get is generous.

This is the best sandwich place in Ann Arbor, hands down. Amers is good, zingermans is really good, but Maize and Blue is way better, and very reasonably priced.

Quality has gone done. Bread was hard at edges and soggy in the middle. Driver forgot 1/2 our order. Wont order from here again. Not worth the high prices.

Amazing place, better than Zingermans in price and quantity of food. Breads are really good, and they load their sandwiches with meats.

Although the sandwiches are more expensive then most places that you are used to. The amount of meat and the taste cannot be beat!

Rude, slow, overpriced, and overrated. It should not take more than 15 minutes to make a simple sandwich late in the afternoon.

Those sandwiches are awesome. Not zingermans but as close as you can get for 40% less money. A must buy.
