This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the Boston area. My wife and I lived in China in 1997 for a year and we miss getting "the real stuff". Fortunately, Formosa Taipei gives us a lot of authentic Chinese food. We especially enjoyed: Salt & Pepper Chicken Fried Chicken w/Bone; the flavor is fantastic; the name does not do it justice Wonton in Peanut Butter and Hot & Spicy Sauce; delicious, spicy & sauce is on the side which is nice Spicy Beef Noodle Soup Taiwanese Style; sublime, and spicy Ko Cha Dish (Pork & Squid w/vegetable); fantastic flavor combo (I think there is spiced dried Tofu in there as well) and quite spicy. This is probably the best thing on the menu that Ive had which is saying something. As a bonus I usually get to eat it all by myself since its quite spicy: Thanks Formosa Taipei!! ;-) All that said, I am NOT a fan of the Three Cup Specials. I hope you enjoy the food at Formosa Taipei!

Our family was staying in the Boston area for a wedding and a couple of college tours. I found Formosa Taipei online. The décor is indeed nothing to write home about - its primarily a takeout place, but the food was worth writing home about! We had Beef Chow Foon, Singapore Mei Fun (extra spicy), and a tofu dish. The food was fresh, hot, and delicious. Today, we went back and had a few Dim Sum items (Daikon Cakes, Crab Rangoon, and Roast Pork Buns) - they were all excellent. The staff was friendly as well.

I was very much looking forward to trying this place after reading all these excellent reviews. But after yesterdays disappointing experience, I know I will definitely not be a returning customer. The chicken (in the bean curd roll) was sour! The food was bland and the buns tasted like it was heated from those frozen packaged buns you can buy at Chinese Markets. This seems to be just another greasy fried makeshift Chinese restaurant.

Always worth checking out the specials hand-written on index cards and pinned to the wall. They do a lot with "chive flowers", which are chives with the flowering heads intact. Their Ko-Cha Dish is unique and hearty, with pork, squid and dried tofu. House-Special Rice Cake is delicious. Hot & Sour Soup is vegetarian, and surprisingly good. Steamed Mini Juicy Pork Buns are basically xiaolongbao (Shanghai Soup Dumplings).

My wife and I have been to this place many times already. There are many dishes that we liked and would recommend to other folks. 1. Appetizer: Steamed Mini Juicy Pork BunsSweet Custard with 2. Hot & Spicy Minced Chicken 3. Noodles w/ Beef & Green Vegetables in Sha Cha Sauce 4. Fried Boneless Chicken Thigh Over Rice 5. Beef and Tomato Over the Rice 6. Desert: Sweet Custard withPeanut & Ginger Sauce

I love this place. Parking is a bit of a hassle. Theres a credit minimum and little seating but they make amazing bubble tea that I dont have to travel to the city for. Tip: ask for extra ice. They make authentic bubble tea and heat the boba. The ice helps prevent the boba from sticking.

Simple hole-in-the-wall place with minimal atmosphere (not even music). Not a typical Chinese takeout counter, and barely a sit-down restaurant, but the food was delicious and generously portioned. After lunch there, my friend and I were plenty full for hours.

Although I wouldnt say the food is stellar, it is the least Americanized takeout chinese food in the area. Delivery is fairly restricted to the near-Lexington area, but they are always remarkably fast. Minimum $20 for delivery + $2 fee.

非常喜欢的店,味道好,价格合理。龙虾做的不错。点的多了,有点浪费。生意非常好,要预约的。

Great food, not a lot of space so plan on takeout unless you can find a spot. Thai and Chinese food. House fried rice is very good. Plan on taking some home or sharing a meal. Grab a bubble tea as well.

Ate there a few weeks ago. Ordered fried rice and got a doggy bag container with paper plate for dining in. This place fooled me as being Taiwanese. Its actually chinese. Avoid....

The food here is incredible, but its primarily a take-out place. They do have some seating, but its normally always taken.
