Za has interesting pizza toppings and combinations on their specialty pizzas. Its a slightly upscale place with pleasant seating and waitstaff. Unfortunately, I found their crust, while thin, to be rather bready when I was expecting a little crustiness. I was dining with friends who are repeat customers but would probably not choose to go there on my own. Note: Pizzas here are all generously sized 10" individual pizzas. There are no other sizes available. The prices reflect the toppings and dining experience and may seem high for those looking for take out pizzas to share among a group.

Food is usually great. Service is usually good, but they really let me down today. About 45 minutes after we ordered, our waitress finally came by to tell us that our order hadnt actually been put in, and offered us the chance to wait another 20-25 minutes for our food. Mistakes happen, but youve got to pay attention to your tables and notice when people are sitting there with no food for that long! Also, this is the point where a restaurant ought to consider offering something for our troubles -- not just a longer wait for full-price food!

LOVED this place. Stumbled on it from out of town. Ive never had such unusual, amazing pizza with fresh ingredients and totally new flavor combinations. The staff were so nice and knowledgeable about the neighborhood as well as the food. Dont miss this restaurant if you like pizza (and salad, wine, beer) and are in the area. My only tiny criticism is they could use a larger menu with bread, appetizers and side salad portions. But basically this is the perfect neighborhood gourmet pizza spot for locals and visitors, with fantastic service.

We tend to eat in the Kendall Sq area, Doyles, CBC, Sebastians, Emmas and Kendall Kitchen...this s just another one to add into the mix. Its a bit different but not exactly something totally new. The pizza could use a bit of flavor...maybe something in the sauce and for the price itd e nice to be a bit larger (especially for the $11 ones). The salads are different and I think pretty good. I cant rave but I cant bash it either.

I ordered take-out. I am completely disappointed by the size of the salad. Eight bucks for a side salad? Are you kidding me? Two more dollars to add half a breast of grilled chicken. Do not bother with this place. There are so many places with more to offer their patrons. I feel like an idiot for trying this place. If youd like to waste money, by all means, eat at Za!

Ive been to this place many times and always left with a smile and a full stomach. Everyone I have ever brought to this place also loves it, as they have very creative pizzas (pizza with mustard, salami, onions, swiss cheese) sounds gross but it somehow all comes together, as did the smoked salmon pizza with red onions. Try this place out, its a home run!

This is my FAVORITE PIZZA RESTAURANT. Its got gourmet pizza to die for, great pasta, and many other wonderful dishes and drinks. The service is great & the staff are very friendly. Za is very easily accessible by public transportation, car, or walking. Going here supports a local, independently owned small business =)

The pizza at Za is the best in Boston. The salads and desserts are amazing. You wouldnt think some of the combinations they want to serve you would compliment each other... but just try the fig pizza. It is amazing. I love the cucumber salad and rosemary creme brulee!! And a great beer and wine selection as well!

Who can resist Mac & Cheese pizza??? Fresh ingredients and perfect portion. Awesome drink selection. Best dessert! Very children friendly. We have been going there since they opened. We also held a private party there and it was flawless and surprisingly affordable, while everyone thought it was so fancy.

A simple menu: Pizzas, salads, and craft beers. Everything Ive tried here is really good. Some healthier choices and often locally grown ingredients. One of the few fun and comfortable dine-in pizza places in the area that has character and doesnt feel like a chain. Open until 9 on weekdays and 11 pm weekends.

Innovative toppings and personal sized pizza make this a great, casual option for dining in Kendall Square. Toppings are locally sourced, and specials are always changing, with options such as Kimball Farms Peach, Caramelized Onion, Smoked Goat Cheese, Pickled Cherry Pepper and Basil.

Stumbled upon Za while looking for someplace to eat near Capitol Theater. Been back about a dozen times since. Pizza and salads are stellar...the tart-like crust being standout. Ingredients are distinctive, local and fresh. Nice wine list by the glass.

This place has very unique food that is worth the couple of extra bucks. My wife and I had a bottle of Wine 2 Salads, 1 Pizza, and 2 Desserts for $68 before tip. Not too pricey but not cheap either. The portions were small but the quality was superb.

Loved it. It has a cozy, polished atmosphere. The staff is friendly and on point. The pizza and local beer options were unique, fun and made from quality ingredients. I enjoyed myself here. $40 for drinks, pizza, a salad and shared dessert.

The food is great and the ambience also very cute. I tried the salmon salad which was delicious and their sandwiches are fantastic. Their coffee is really tasty. And I love the H2rose!!! Will definitely be going back soon!

Creative, tasty salads and creative, tasty pizzas all at a reasonable price with some local ingredients. The beer and wine selection is solid and the service is good. One of my favorite places

I like that it was locally sourced; the combinations of flavors were good. But the salads were kind of bland and the pizzas kind of cheesy. Great for a casual, affordably priced meal.

Pretty great build-your-own individual pizzas! Lots of exotic ingredients and specials. I personally like to keep it simple and do pepperoni and bread and butter jalapenos.

Creative pizzas and fabulous salads - they do only two things but they do them well. Slightly pretentious food in a comfortable atmosphere - whats not to love.

A great modern pizza with seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. Throw in delicious salads and a nice beer selection and you have one of our favorite spots!

Love the Beef Bomb. Quality of ingredients is good. Unique menu items and ability to customize or create your own Za. The price is on par with the area.

Ordered two pizzas for takeout and I was told it will take 20 minutes, it ended up taking 50 minutes. The manager didnt even come out to apologize.

The smoked salmon pizza is outstanding and on our last visit to ZA we had it with a really good Italian Chardonnay, slightly buttery but not oaky.

Oh how I love Za. Amazing personal sized pizzas that are almost just too big. Great toppings, a comfortable atmosphere, and a solid staff.

Incredible pizza place. The olives were delicious and the mac and cheese pizza was the winner of the three we had.

Clearly a great pizza place. Do not order a cheese pizza from Za. If you do, you miss the point of eating at Za.
