First I have to say that I have no idea where "Carol/ Aug 2010" and "Chris 5/11" ate but it could not have been at this restaurant. We have been eating here monthly for the last 25+ years and I can honestly say have NEVER had a bad meal. Carol mentions frozen french fries. That is the farthest from the truth. Perhaps there was confusion w/ other restaurants. Anyway.. I must say that it gets very crowded and you can not make reservations but if you go at an odd time (ex. 2pm-5pm) it shouldnt be too bad. The food is the best of any restaurant I have ever had. They are known for their crabcakes and are pure lump and NO FILLER at all. I have no idea why the other review cited stuffing as filler b/c I always get the crabcakse (2- 1 for there and 1 to bring home) and it has NEVER had filler in it. You just cant please some people so take some of the reviews with a grain of salt.. You have to try this place and make up your own mind The grounds are beautiful and there is even a little shop in the back. And you do NOT have to tip before your meal is served. You simply tell them you will leave your tip at the table. no biggie Pros- everything... Food is the best and always fresh. I have never tasted anything that resembles frozen here. Obviously in the middle of winter one can not get fresh fruits like in the summer but they change the menu from time to time based on availability. *Crabcakes- best in the world.. no lie *it is served family style and the wait staff knows what it means to keep the food on the table. We have never had to wait more than a minute or two to have veg/fruit etc refilled. Cons-yes, it is a little pricey but good food is worth it, prices for child platters, price to share a meal

The food quality definitely does not match the price. Spent over 50.00 for two people to have 1 crab cake that looked more like a side of hash browns and pork chops that tasted like they were sitting in a steaming pan all night, soggy and absolutely no taste. And who does not serve mashed potatoes and gravy with pork chops? They brought out dry, season-less fries, canned green beans with some ham bits thrown in and two serving spoons of corn. I guess since they are cut back in the middle of nowhere, they can charge whatever they want and serve whatever they want and call it good..would only taste good to someone just getting off of survivor island, and would of licked a toad for sustenance. NEVER AGAIN!! What a waste of money, had a jumbo lump crab cake dinner (enough for 2 people) that was absolutely delish, came with a side, salad and breadsticks at Fratelli’s – also ordered an app and two drinks and left a tip for the same price as the nasty crab cake hash and pork chops and dry fries meal here..YUCK!! Anybody remember Horn and Horn (Westminster all you can eat) from back in the day? - yeah they had better food and was a heck of a lot cheaper..but somehow people still come to this place..the niche must be being the only gig in the middle of the woods.

We just had the worst birthday dinner at this place. We use to like driving up there for their family style meal but after today. I dont want to take any chances. You can get bad server but the server accusing you is just wrong. So we over looked that it was dinner time. So just assumed our server was busy. So we try to understand. But did notice that we couldnt find her to ask for things. Food got cold, didnt feel like eating so when we found her ask for dessert. But only after serving everyone. She came back with small box. So when I asked her for another small box. That is when she got off accusing or telling us that you cannot take sides. And if you want to take any left-over of your main dish. She will tell you that you cannot take away any left-over of sides (on your table)because they are family style. She will accuse you of asking for refills just to take it home. WHAT!!! (but THE ONLY REFILLS WE HAD WAS FIVE COBS OF CORN, A SMALL DISH OF COLESLAW, AND A BASKET OF BREAD: ONLY ONCE.) and she took away the any remaining side dishes that were left before asking us. It was clear she didn’t want us to take away any side dishes with the $30 steak MEALS we had. We were only interested in coleslaw. Because we use to like them.

Considering this is a farm-I was expecting fresh food. The meal choices are limited, I went with the stuffed shrimp. It was ok, however the portions are small, especially for $30 a plate. My husband had the 5 ounce crab cake (on the site they advertise "jumbo") and it was just a dollop, there were shells still in the crab cake. Even on the way home my husband and I joked that we needed to make a stop for a burger, however the cost of the meal pretty much outweighed that choice. The sides were disappointing. The peaches, green beans, and beets are obviously canned. The server was slow. Every time you asked for something she would disappear, then come back and say oh your drink/napkins/refills/etc. are on the way. I was tempted to go and refill my iced tea myself. She served the food so that plates rested atop one another-not a huge problem except she gave an extra plate to divide the kids meal (you have to pay 3$ to split a plate between a 5 and 3 year old) and it had gravy all over it. Then you have to beg for extra napkins. Ive gone to Clementine and Woodberry Kitchen which offer "farm to table" style and I expected a similar experience. This was disappointing and I wont be visiting again.

I went to Friendly farms for the first time this past Saturday. The restaurant is located along a nice scenic drive through rural Maryland, its has a great atmosphere to bring the family as there is land and a lake to feed the ducks. But lets talk about the reason you came here which is the food. I got the fried chicken. The chicken was dry and was not seasoned at all, the chicken skin (which is normally the best part of chicken) was dry and distastefully unseasoned. The fries had no seasoning and the rest of my food tasted like it came from a can. The beets tasted like they were soaked in vinegar for months. I wouldnt send somebody to this restaurant to even use the bathroom the food is so bad. The thing that gets you is that you pay before you get the food and go in to sit down and eat. This way you cant just leave when you taste the food as you have already paid for it. I cant speak for the crab cakes that have been getting raving reviews but the fried chicken, chicken tenders, and vegetables were all terrible and I would never recommend eating here. I actually couldnt wait to write this Google review to tell others about here.

We first went to this restaurant 2 years ago after hearing it had a duck pond. Weve since made it a tradition to go here every Easter for lunch. Its pricey, but its a nice tradition, children are much less ($7.95), and if you get there at the right time, the wait isnt too bad. We go right after church, get there right at 11am when they open on Easter morning. Not a fan of apple butter, or cottage cheese period, but the fries, sugar rolls, and crab cakes are to die for! The ham is great (I actually love the combo of the ham and a crab cake) too. My picky 3 year old who wont touch many things period, even ate the ham last year! The gift shop is really cute, but not alot of room to move through there. We always take some bread and take it down to the pond for the ducks. Ladies, bring a second pair of shoes, heels sink in the sometimes wet ground (april showers), and then youre stepping in duck poop if you take your shoes off. And bring a warm coat because before you pay for your meal, youre standing outside in line while people decide what they want and pay for it. Worth the wait!
