Initial Impressions: Our first visit to La Rive Breton was pretty good considering it is still a new restaurant. Like most new restaurants it seems to take a while to work out the quarks. We have lived in SOMD for 10 years and enjoy supporting local businesses so we decided to give them a try for my husband’s birthday. We were seated immediately after we entered the restaurant. There were only around 5 other tables of patrons dining (approx.. 10-12 people in all) so we were surprised that it took around 5 minutes for anyone to wait on us and take our drink orders. (I believe it may have been due to a wait staff miss-understanding.) Food: Everything was absolutely DELICIOUS! I can’t stress this enough. For starters we got the mussels appetizer which came out about 10 minutes (decent) after our order was taken. They staff was kind enough to bring us extra fresh warm bread to dip in the sauce which was absolutely incredible. Our main courses were just as delicious but it took at least 45-50 minutes to get it. With only a couple patrons in the restaurant that night I can’t imagine how long it would take on a Friday or Saturday evening with crowds. Perhaps they had a smaller kitchen staff because of it being a Tuesday night? Luckily we weren’t in a hurry to get anywhere and we enjoyed the ambiance while waiting for our main courses. I got the "Teres Major Steak (potato purée, crispy brussels sprouts, trumpet, balsamic reduction, sans mushrooms). The meat was pre-cut but it had so much taste to it. The Brussel sprouts, a food I typically don’t eat, complimented the potato puree and steak so well. It was perfect. My husband got the Scallop Pappardelle (hand-cut egg yolk noodles, soft goat cheese sauce, and crispy kale) and it was so creamy. By far these were the best scallops we have ever had in our lives! Dessert: While my husband stepped away I asked one of the staff members (ended up being one of the owners) if they did anything special for birthdays and if it was complimentary. He said yes and asked how I wanted the dessert to be brought to the table (embarrassing or in a sweet manner). There was never a discussion as to what dessert that would be brought so I thought all was taken care of. The dessert, a devil’s food cake with a small side of whipped cream and raspberry drizzle was topped with a lit candle and had "Happy Birthday" tastefully written around it using fruity drizzle. It was really good. Bill: Once we received the check I noticed that the dessert was on it. After bringing it to the attention to our sever who said they don’t do complimentary desserts she asked the owner about it. The owner approached our table and apparently he hadn’t heard me say complimentary when we had our short discussion about the dessert earlier that evening and apologized for the miscommunication. When the waitress returned with our check the owner decided to comp the price of the dessert after all. He didn’t have to do this but it just goes to show how much respect this restaurant has for their customers. In conclusion: We will definitely be back again. Hopefully when we return we will be greeted in a timely manner once we are seated and that the kitchen can speed up with the main courses. With that said… I like quality over quantity any day so if quality food takes that much time to make then I guess I can wait.

Excellent food, bold, fresh flavors... Every bite delighted the palate with an explosion of culinary expertise. Good size portions for a five star restaurant. Overall four star... atmosphere lacks the ambience of a five star restaurant, but its a new restaurant! Very pleasant staff but service needs improvement... Given time I have no doubt this restaurant will be exceptional! The expert coordination of culinary flavors create the most savory dishes anywhere in Southern Maryland! Kudos to the chef!!!!

A most delightful evening. Our waitress, Taylor, was genuinely pleasant. Passing on to the owner, Steve, that we were celebrating our anniversary he promptly came to our table and congratulated us, thanking us for sharing the occasion with them. The food is superb. The servers are attentive. We have again, enjoyed our meal at this quaint culinary gem, thank you.

Everything was amazing from Wine to Desert. The cauliflower soup was so delicious. We also had the kale salad, the scallops and the monkfish. Not one bite was bad, everything was cooked beautifully. Lauren was our server, ask for her and your experience will be complete. Great place for a special occasion dinner. Cant wait to go back!

La Rive Breton continues to delight! This was our third visit and we can honestly say that we have had 3 consistently excellent meals. Their wait staff is attentive and professional, something very hard to find in the area. We have recommended La Rive Breton to numerous friends and all have been as equally impressed.
