Original review posted in late 2015 - I really want to like this place, but after 3 visits over the past 2 years, I just dont. I always leave disappointed and thinking Ill never go back. The food is okay, nothing special, but the service is terrible. Long waits for food and/or just coffee. The employees are rude and definitely seem uppity. Every time they get my order wrong or have forgotten my order entirely. Update as of 2/6/16 - To the Owner, thank you for your comment. I sincerely appreciate your offers, but they are not necessary. Prior to seeing your comment, I decided to give your cafe one last chance. I work at UMB, and I really like the convenience of the location, hence why I really want to like your cafe. Unfortunately, I dont remember the names of the staff who waited on me previously. However, the gentleman who waited on me today was exceptional. He was very professional and attentive. I did not ask for his name, but he is an African American male, slender build, longish hair with braids. My order was a bowl of turkey chili to-go. The chili was good; a bit over-priced at more than $6 for the small size, but Ill say the quality of the ingredients were worth it. Based on your eagerness for customer satisfaction and my experience today, Ill say this is a 4-star cafe, and Ill visit again.

I needed to kill a couple hours on a Saturday afternoon so drove quite awhile to get here, since it looked cute and was one of the only coffee shops in West Baltimore open--supposedly til 6. I paid $4.00 to park til then, but when I entered the coffee shop they were getting ready to close at just after 4 pm, "because of the storm," the woman said brusquely. Okay, its really windy out, but hardly apocalyptic. When I commented that according to the radar map it wasnt going to rain, the woman said "its only 15 minutes difference anyway." Please update your hours, people. I suggested that, and the woman said "thanks, Ill consider that," in a dismissive and sarcastic tone. On the plus side, the kid with the dreadlocks was very nice. Coffee is good and strong. Cookie not great.

Im in love with this café. My absolute favorite is the shrimp and chicken cheesesteak wrap. The service was prompt. I love the atmosphere. Good lighting for relaxing and enjoying an intimate date. I wanted to give you five stars but found one of the staff members very rude. The language and attitude was atrocious. I waited almost a half hour for my food due to a staff member badgering me. He was very disrespectful and made my time there uncomfortable. I ended up getting my food to go because of this. Other than this one very rude staff that needs training in costumer service. The others were very kind and respectful. I will return because I just love the food. Looking forward to a Thursday night there with some friends soon. I hope this guy isnt working.

I came in for a late breakfast while attending a conference downtown. Great prices and even better food. I had the joes verde scrambler thing. The potatoes were perfectly seasoned. I also got a mocha and I could actually taste the espresso! It was smooth, with a very small bite. Definitely my favorite mocha Ive had in ages. The atmosphere is very comfortable. Perfect for getting some work done on a laptop or meeting with a friend. They have a tv tuned to sports that is muted and smooth jazz music that doesnt overpower your thoughts and conversations. The people behind the counter are quick and attentive; my order was ready in ~4 minutes. Definitely recommend checking this place out. It is well worth the ~3 block walk from the convention center.

I get my fix here almost every morning. The staff is fantastic and pleasant, the coffee is good, and they make your sandwiches to order, which takes a while, but you get something that was made fresh, not just tossed into a microwave. Also, they participate in the Belly rewards program thing, which is nice in that its a rewards program that you dont have to have multiple different cards and stuff. If you get to the point where you have earned a "gift certificate" you can opt to just have a tab opened for that amount, again reducing the number of random cards and such that you have to carry around. Good coffee, good people, good food, good environment.

I tried to order a pour-over coffee this morning but was told that it would "take a while." I asked how long, and the young woman simply said "dont know, but if I get busy with other orders it could take a whiiiillle." It was clear that she wanted me to order something else. So I ordered a large black coffee, which tasted fine except that it had coffee grounds in it. If you arent willing to make an item, its probably best to take it off the menu. Other than this experience, the atmosphere was nice and employees were kind. The carrot cake was excellent, and they had a nice offering of gluten-free items.

Coffee shop/cafe. 8 small tables and a couple more high-top ones, plus a few outside and more upstairs when thats open. Several outlets. Free wi-fi with password. Hardwood floor. Decorated with local art, plants, political posters, etc. Jazz on the sound system, reasonable volume. A bit overheated on a cool fall afternoon. I was there from noon until 4 on a fall Tuesday afternoon and there were always some tables available. Extensive menu of lunch options and modest selection of desserts. Tea is bagged, chai is from powder, but they made an almond milk London Fog for me with bagged chai tea.

The service in this place is awful. I ordered a chili and drink during lunchtime and it never arrived. The cook apparently never saw the ticket for my order and never prepared the meal. Then, when I asked for a refund, no one on staff knew how to process my payment. Eventually, they had to call a manager by cell phone to come in and show the workers how to process refunds. This restaurant is a joke, staffed by lazy or incompetent workers that dont know or care about what theyre doing. I will never eat here again.

If youre going to stay at this coffee shop, asked for everything to-go no matter what. As much as I like this place, they absolutely do not know how to wash glasses here. Every single time, I ask for a glass of water this are stains all over the glasses. Sometimes, you can still taste whatever was still in the glasses before they were used. Seriously. Improve this. Im writing this from inside your restaurant, and Im staring at yet another dirty water glass.

Friendly, accommodating people; local art on the walls; music at the right volume; important ball games on the telly; free wifi; a chill upstairs secluded work sanctuary..... What else could you want from a coffee shop? Sure, the food is kind of expensive. But--its a great value for the ability to sit there as long as you want, in an awesome non cookie-cutter atmosphere, without feeling any pressure to buy stuff/eat stuff/do anything at all different.

My experience was mixed. The food and coffee was amazing. The atmosphere was hectic as would be expected. My fellow patrons were good people of all kinds. A pupper was allowed to come in with her owner much to everyones joy. There was a feeling among the staff that customers could be ridiculed once they left, loudly in full view and hearing of other customers. I dont know if I will return despite the excellence of everything else.
