Acadia is one of my favorite vacation spots and I visit every couple of years. I have made a habit of frequenting this breakfast spot on the way out of town each time. However, after my recent couple of experiences I will be looking around for other options. Here are some notes from our last visit, Tuesday, 8/23: - Street parking was easy and we got a table quickly, likely due to mid-week breakfast. - Server took a while to take our order and bring our drinks, even though it wasnt all that busy. She didnt seem to be all that happy to be at work, either... - Coffee was average - lukewarm and somewhat watery. - We were never offered a refill on coffee by our server and we ran out of cream within that first round. - One member of our party got chocolate milk which was basically white milk with chocolate syrup, floaties and all - not all that appealing. - Portions were sizeable, no problem there. - We all thought we ordered the homemade sourdough bread, but what we got was bland thick-cut white bread. - While there was a basket of Smuckers jams, the options were limited mostly being some sort of Cinnamon Apple. - Two of us ordered ham and it was very fatty, such that we could only eat two-thirds of it. - Over-easy eggs were undercooked in the middle. - There was an upcharge for maple syrup for pancakes - really? Who eats pancakes without maple syrup? And were in Maine. Shouldnt it always be real maple syrup? Just build it into the cost structure of the food. - We werent offered to go packs for our leftovers and had to fend for ourselves. - The bathrooms are both singles and the door sticks on the one I used. I couldnt tell if it was locked or not. Thankfully, it was, but only found that out when someone tried opening it on me. With some minor improvements, this place could be much better. For now, Ill try other spots and circle back if I hear/read good things about Riverside again...

I have always enjoyed the Riverside for a couple of decades now, however today I inquired about the buckwheat pancakes because for years I have enjoyed them w Maine blueberries and real maple syrup here. A few weeks ago the pancakes were a bit fluffier and thicker than before and I didnt really think about it until I had some gut issues later that day. I am WHEAT sensitive so I have enjoyed being able to get pure buckwheat pancakes out at a restaurant but today I specifically asked the waitress to check w the kitchen to see of they had changed the recipe and if they now had WHEAT in the buckwheat pancakes. She thought they did not but she asked anyway and indeed they DO now Contain WHEAT . I am very disappointed. See I make good omelettes at home so the 100% buckwheat pancakes where such a special treat. I want to let other wheat sensitive folks out there so they dont figure the recipe is the same. Very saddened because I will now only visit when relatives are in town. I gave 3 stars because the other food has always been good especially the home fries.

Drove here for 2 hours and made it in time for late breakfast/lunch and ordered a crab and swiss omlette. It was really amazing! Served with hearty potatoes and fresh raisin bread - totally yummy. Highly recommended. Danielle was my server at the bar - and she was great. She talked me into trying a warm pecan pie with ice cream and that may have been the best thing I have eaten all year...(and its late October). I told her that it was almost as good as mommas... and thats saying a lot. Definitely the best meal Ive had in Maine. Id go back there again and again if I was working closer to Ellsworth.

Waited 15 minutes in line with several tables available, no names were being taken and no one was paying any attention to those of us waiting. No names were being taken and it was unclear who was next in line. Total chaos was apparent and didnt bode well for a pleasant meal. Gave up and went elsewhere.

Love the food here! The pancakes are the best! They close at 2. We got there at 2:07 just for coffee to go. They ended up making a fresh pot of coffee just for us!! What great customer service! I would eat breakfast everyday here.

Travelling from WV and ground this restaurant for breakfast through app on my phone. Great find! Food was great, priced decently, and service was very friendly. Service was a little slow but they were really busy.

Super friendly atmosphere, good service, great weekend brunch breakfast specials. We were from out of state, but it appears to be an in place for locals. We will be back the next time were in Maine.

The restaurant was clean and tastefully decorated. I had one of their Sunday brunch offerings -- a tortilla filled with eggs, sausage, peppers, and onions -- and it was delicious.

This is a great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is only very slightly off the main drag from I95 to Acadia National Park. The food is really good.

Not bad, food was good and the atmosphere was cool, however we were asked to leave early so other people could sit? The restaurant wasnt even full...

Excellent home style breakfasts and lunch food. Waitresses are always on their game, and the wait time is better than expected during busy days.

Waitress yelled at me after asking on the status of our food. All I ordered was a scrambled egg. I left so I did not try the food.
