You call this "Chinese food?" What a joke! Its even an overstatement to call it a "restaurant." The food they serve is terrible and disgusting, filled with food coloring, msg, and too much sugar. The "meat," or what its supposed to be, is a cross between canned Spam and stale bread. I probably dont want to know what they actually put in it. Very low quality ingredients, even lower quality cooking. This restaurants cooks probably need to buy an actual Chinese recipe book and do some studying, rather than cooking with their eyes closed and minds half-asleep. We couldnt even stand to finish it so we threw the rest in the garbage. By the way, we are fans of (good) Chinese food, so we know whats bad and whats good. Anyone who enjoys this kind of food probably never had a proper meal before, much less say a proper Chinese meal.

Went here while on vacation this last weekend. It was some of the worst service I have ever had the misfortune of experiencing. My food was acceptable at best however my fiancés food had hair in it and her "hot chocolate" was essentially just warm water with absolute no flavor. When we went to tell the waitress just gave us this blank look like ok something is wrong thats too bad and then just left without making any effort to remidee the situation. She was like ok "so you are done" returned 10 minutes later with the check that on top of had full charges for everything it included a 15 percent manditory tip which was not stated anywhere. Have never been so unhappy with a dining experience.

Food is extremely poor in quality, but large in quantity comparing to most others. Whats the point of having large dish but not edible for its poor taste. Wonton taste heavy in msg with absolutely no good flavor that they should have. The scallion pancake was so deep fired that it tastes nothing but old oil. REALLY bad. It is really a rip off unless you are happy with just bunch of food and do not care for flavor. We left almost everything after a few bites... 90% of scallion pancake untouched. Only managed to finish 50% of soup. Glad that we did not order anything else!!!!

This was the greatest culinary experience I have ever had. I highly recommend the China joy famous pu pu for two, which includes delicacies such as crab Rangoon and pork fried rice. Not only is this restaurant one of the greatest bangs for your buck in Bar Harbor, but they are also willing to feed hungry children and are accepting of tips paid in foreign currency. In short, China joy should be on everyones bucket list. I went there with the boys and was treated to some of the worlds finest cuisine.

The best Chinese food Ive had in a LOOOOOOOOONG time. The Sesame Chicken was perfect - not too spicy, not too bland. The rice was very good, the Crab Rangoon was not what we were used to but did taste very good. The Beef Teriyaki was a little chewy but tasted absolutely amazing, the sweet and sour chicken was a hit for my hubby... everything was sooooo good. We might take a day trip up to Bar Harbor just to enjoy this restaurant again and next time bring friends!

Chinajoy is a clean restaurant and very attentive waitstaff. I have to say that I never had Chinese food cooked with the seasonings & flavors that they do which made it a little on the strange side. The Wonton Soup had dumplings in it along with a lot of different vegetables that was very good. The fried rice was dry and the low Maine just had a different flavor. A lot of other people seem to enjoy eating there

I had a wonderful time here. I have seen China Joy for the last couple years of visiting Bar Harbor and I always wanted to stop in. I am glad now that I did. I can say I walked away from this place happy and very satisfied. I loved the atmosphere, food, drinks, and the service. All very good. Definitely a worthwhile stop in my own personal opinion. I will.be returning again.

As a Chinese, I didnt realize the best lobster on the island is from this Chinese restaurant. The lobster they offer is hard shell lobster, which is quite different to the soft-shell from other places and the meat is tighter and chewier. I also like the way they cook lobsters, that brings more flavor than steaming them.

I surprised that I had walked by this place in the past but had never gone until just recently. The food was great, and the portions were large. We had to take two boxes of food back and my wife and i only ordered two dishes. The staff was also very friendly. The prices were average to other asian restaurants.

Im heritage and found it not bad at all. It is better than a lot of American Chinese places, it has its authentic part. I wouldnt say its amazing but dont mind going back again, especially theres nothing else but seafood in town. You should also consider its the only Chinese place in 15 miles.

We called to order takeout not realizing it was one minute before closing time. Not only did they not complain, but made everything and even made something we ordered that was no longer on the menu (we had an old one from online). The food was better than expected with good seafood.

I was dismayed to find a piece of a plastic bag in my takeout order. Looks like it was from a bag they had opened for the noodles or something - had Chinese writing on it. Needless to say I will not be back. Have a picture of the fragment but was unable to attach it to this review.

Food is normal. Its just what you would expect from Chinese restaurant. Nothing special, but nothing horrible. Cheap price compare to other restaurants around the town. Definitely go here if you are low on money and need to something to fill your belly.

Im very picky, and Chinese food is my absolute favorite. The chicken fingers are amazing. My family has hated nearly every restaurant weve been to since we got here, but weve already been to this one twice in 5 days!

Could not understand server. I was alone in the restaurant yet the food took forever. They included the tip in the bill, even though the server did not deserve the tip. The chicken with pineapple was pretty tasty.

Good food, but we got it to go and they didnt include napkins. Also two tiny cups of sauce for 6 egg rolls, 6 chicken finger, and 6 fried shrimp. We should have been given double the amount of sauce we received.

On this day, Service was average for the 6 of us. The food took a long time to come out and too many little things were missing (cutlery, multiple requests for water Etc). The food was decent but not amazing.
