The last weekend in March 2016, my mother in law and I went in for cake testing for her wedding on April 28. The cake testing was great! We were able to pick four flavors to try, given coffee, and the girl (I think Priscilla), was very friendly. We really enjoyed ourselves. She decided on a vanilla bottom tier and a pecan top tier with Italian icing. The cake was paid for in full and scheduled to be picked up Thursday, April 28 anytime after 9 a.m. Fast forward to the big day....I arrived at the bakery at roughly 1230~1, to pick up the cake. They had a variety a cakes sitting around and were making several cakes, but the lady I spoke first to, didnt know anything about a wedding cake to be picked up that day. The second employee I dealt with, the same story. I guess then a member of management decided she had better step in. They had in computer that the cake was to be picked up on Saturday!! Luckily,I had the paid ticket and was able to prove my story!!! They then tell me they can have my cake ready in 30~45 minutes. My only option was at that point was to agree as long as they delivered it. Mind you,I still have not asked for any sort of monetary reimbursement. They FINALLY arrived at the house about two hours later with a very sad looking cake. The top tier was not centered, you could see the cake through the icing in spots, the decorating was not up to par, and to make matters worse, the ENTIRE cake was the same flavor with pecans!! I immediately told the guy delivering it, that I was very upset with the appearance it the cake (didnt know yet the flavor was wrong too). He gave me a business card and told me to call the following week, and wed be taken care of. My mother in law called and was told that they needed something in writing and then she would be reimbursed. Today is now June 9, and still absolutely nothing!!! I am very disappointed in the way the whole situation was handled. I was not going to write a review had it been handled properly but the fact that it has now been almost 6 weeks and we still havent even received an apology, really pisses me off!!

I have been a fan of cakes from heitzman for years, I even had them bake my wedding cake over 20 years ago! But yesterday when I picked up a 8 inch round birthday cake for my 81 year old mother, when we sliced it and ate it the icing was nowhere near what Buttercream icing is supposed to taste like. The icing was very gritty and not creamy at all! The cake was fine. When I called to voice my complaint I was told per the manager…. In her words….. I dont know what to say!!! I make the icing for all the cakes!!! She offered no discount or in store credit for even a donut!!! Just told me to bring the half eaten cake back in! I live in jeffersonville jnd!! Needless to say I will never order anything from HEITZMAN AGAIN! maybe it was the Dixie highway location in Louisville Ky… or the manager who obviously needs to go back to bakers school to learn how to make a wonderful buttercream icing I know heitzman can do! I paid 30.00 some odd dollars for this birthday cake!!! UPDATE: Upon a second phone call (We were cut off previously) to the manager Priscilla, I asked again what is the procedure when a customer informs you that the product they received was not satisfactory? I told her, you didnt even offer an apology AND THAT IS NOT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. So what can you do ? I suggested to her maybe you can offer me some kind of gift certificate or credit of some kind. She replied sure I can do that and Im sorry I dont know what happened . She took my information and told me she would mail me out a gift certificate for half of the price I paid for the cake. which I told her that was fair. I will await the gift certificate and I appreciate Priscilla for resolving the issue. CARON VAUGHN JEFF, IND. UPDATE: STILL HAVE NOT GOTTEN THE GIFT CERTIFICATE AS PROMISED IN THE MAIL FROM PRISCILLA! ITS BEEN THREE WEEKS AND I LIVE IN JEFFERSONVILLE IND. CALLING THE CORPORATE OFFICES MONDAY! JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS CUSTOMER SERVICE OR INTEGRITY! HEITZMAN SHAME ON YOU.

I a very excited to go to Heitzman bakery, "a real bakery" when I was in the area. When I say that I mean, a baked in house, specialties, beautiful cakes, donuts cookies and pastries. Theres a s differance from a chain grocery store bakery. At least there should be. Once I found the location, went in and was surprised to see a small, dinghy front area with mostly empty cases. There was two employees off to the side talking, and one walking past with a sheet tray in her arms. I was the only customer and not one person even seemed to care I had come in. The employees were dressed very casual no uniforms or even aprons that matched. I looked around for about 2 minutes and left never being asked if they could help me. My opinion is that this bakery is too outdated, no pride in customer service or appearance of location or employees, questionable cleanliness. So so disappointed will never go there again and surly not recomended them. Its a mystery to me how they even stay open.

Horrible the cake was dry and the icing was hard and it was my son 13th birthday and no one could eat the cake and tell said I have to re order the cake or a in store credit and the manage cuss me out that totally unprofessional and the owner was there and didnt do anything about it so I left empty handed

I bought some out of date cookies never dreaming this store would sale cookies so hard you could break a tooth on them.This hietzmans needs to step up their act this is the only one in town that gets bad reviews Dixie hwy gets a bad rap because the businesses dont care about the people they serve

Heitzmans has very good doughnuts! If you want some fresh bakery food or treets make a quick stop by Heitzmans Bakery! Only downside is that the surrounding area is not very inviting or clean.

My husband went there this morning around 10 am. had very little selection of dounuts. The dounuts he brought home were stale dried out and tasteless. Very disappointed.
