I used to love Mai Thai. A friend of mine and myself made weekly lunch dates there. I always got their Tofu Pad Thai medium spicy. And it was always very good. Lately though we noticed we would sit for periods of time without drinks when we dinned in and/or we would be there for an hour and a half or longer between waiting for our food and our checks. However, the straw was this: myself and a friend from out of town decided to get takeout from them. It was 8pm when we got our food and drove home. We were looking forward to a relaxing evening visiting and watching a movie. We ordered our movie and sat down to eat (movie was to start at 9pm) and it was then that I realized my food was FAR more then medium spicy. I thought at first maybe it was just me, so I kept trying to eat it. But it was just WAY too spicy (and I like spicy foods). It literally was making my lips go numb trying to eat it. So I decided to call Mai Thai to let them know and see if they would offer me a replacement. The girls I spoke to were extremely rude. They told me if my box said medium than it was medium. I tried to tell them that I order it all the time and its never that spicy, but they did not care at all. They told me that maybe they just put too much "spicy" on it. I was shocked at their lack of care. I told them that they needed to make it right somehow that it was $12 Id be throwing out the window because I was not able to eat it. They told me to bring it back "right now" and they would make a new one. By this point it was 8:45pm. I do not understand why they could not have simply taken my name and asked me to come back within 24-48 hours. They wanted me to box everything back up and drive 20 minutes back up to their store that same night, then another 20 minutes back home. At this point I was just done trying to get them to understand where I was coming from, and it was obvious they did not care either way. I wont be recommending them to friends and family anymore like I had been--and I certainly wont be going back.

Mai Thai is the best. The food and service are excellent. I have eaten at a lot of Thai restaurants in the United States and in Thailand, and have never found better food than Mai Thai. The wait staff is very efficient and friendly. The owner is usually working the sushi bar. All food is prepared fresh and they will customize any order for you. Spicy levels 1-4 are fairly tame. The heat starts to show up in level 5. I recommend the spring rolls or chicken satay as an appetizer, Cashew Chicken for the entree, and their fried ice cream for dessert. They also have excellent sushi, fired rice, Pad Thai, and the dishes you would normally expect at a Thai restaurant. Average entrees are $9.00-$11.00 for dinner, a little less for lunch. The building originally was a Long John Silver’s Seafood House, so its size adds to the noise level. However, the size also lends itself to efficiency. There is never a long wait for food, even when the place is packed. Also, you are never rushed to finish the meal. Friday and Saturday nights are crowded between 6:00-8:00pm. Parking can be a challenge and there is usually a 20 minute wait for a table. I recommend getting there by 5:30pm on a Saturday and there will be no delay. Take Hwy 42 east from I-75 in Florence and Mai Thai is across the street from the Wildwood Inn on the lest side of Hwy 42.

Edit: this review was modified from my first from over three years ago. Very good food and a wide selection of entrees. They even help save money if you pay in cash. My wife and I are fairly regular customers. But the last two visits, the service was just OK, and the servers seem less friendly than before and rushed. On the last visit, I was done eating and still had food remaining that I wanted to take home. No one came by for almost ten minutes though it was not that busy and there were many servers. Also, they now serve brown rice as an option which is great. But it is a $2 additional charge for it. I chose it anyway because of the nutritional value. The rice came out sticky. The portions are also noticeably smaller than previous visits. I once rated this place 4 stars, but took a star off. Still though, some of the best tasting food in our love for Asian fare.

Stopped in here because I saw the sign for Sushi and the parking lot was almost full so I figured it was pretty good.... Boy was I wrong! Ive ate just about every Sushi restaurant in Cincinnati and this was by far hands down the worst Sushi Ive ever had! I got a Volcano roll which was fried and literally tasted like it was cooked in 10 year old grease! Only ate one bite of that one. Got one of their "specialty" rolls which was rice, more rice and then some more rice with about a gallon of different sauces on it. It was horrible.... Ate about half. Last I got a spicy tuna roll. Cant mess that one up right? Wrong! Rice with 2 pieces of cucumber and the smallest little piece of tuna Ive ever seen. Then of course a ton of nasty sauce on top. Even the soy sauce was bad.... This may be a great Thai restaurant but if you want Sushi go somewhere else!!!!

I recently moved here and was hungry so I google mapped food and drinks near me and decided to just stop by. The place was closed but reopened at 5 and we were right on time and they were ready for the rush. We were the first customers in the door. I ordered a Sam Adams Boston lager and asked about specials. our waiter brought out a special menu of all the new items and we were tempted to buy the crab and cream cheese spring roll and it was amazing. It was only $4.00! That is perfect for a snack or an appetizer. The Edamame was on point too. Nice and salty but not too much and it was easy to suck on. We then moved on to our entrees and were very pleased . I always order sushi and am so satisfied with my experience that I am saving this plave to my favorites and will MOST DEFINITELY come back! Great atmosphere too.

The food was all fantastic, my girlfriend and I had crab Rangoon for an appetizer - it was literally the best weve ever had, their Tom Kha Gai (coconut milk and chicken soup) was great and the meal specials we had were delicious to the eyes and mouth, and fully satisfied hunger - expect to take some food home! For the level of quality at this restaurant you would expect a much higher ticket price of about $20-25 a head. That being said the downsides of this restaurant are the quality of seating, and the green tea I had left much to be desired - it tasted store bought. Great place for a date or even a night out with friends - they have a large selection of foreign beers and sake, everything is reasonably priced and delicious!
